FIC: Dream Theme

Hey. This is short, and pure fluff. This is for the Dream theme.

Buffy stalked the campus grounds, her senses focused trying to find any vampires that might have been out. Actually, she had a lot less to do lately. The vampires knew that this was her turf, so they didn't try much anymore. It was boring sometimes, but it also left her lots of "normal person" time.

She let her serious countenance break for a second, and cracked a smile. If only she had realized earlier that happiness wasn't some unattainable light at the end of an extremely dark tunnel, but rather something that followed her around and just waited for her to notice its presence, she could've avoided several months of.unhappiness. But it was here now, and she held onto the happiness as tightly as she could.

Willow, was the cause of her happiness. Who else could it have been? If you looked up happiness in the dictionary, Willow's name would be there. Okay, so maybe she was a little in love. So, what was she doing patrolling, thinking about Willow, when she could go be with Willow?

"Okay, I'm done. You here that? I'll just leave some stakes here. Slay yourselves."

"You think they will?" Willow asked, coming up behind her. And Buffy jumped. "Sorry."

"No.that was a good frightened jump. So, to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"

"Just wanted to see you." Willow smiled sheepishly. "Wow, was that corny or what? I mean that was.not that I.you know what.I."

"Yes that was definitely corny," Willow looked down at her feet, "but if you hadn't said it first, I would've said something just as corny. Come here."

Willow walked over to Buffy, and put her arms around Buffy's neck. They just closed their eyes, and stood there in an embrace as Buffy put her hands on Willow's back. They knew they were upright and standing, but they couldn't feel anything. Abything except for, their.what? Hands? Touch?

But that wasn't...all there was. They couldn't, wouldn't, move.

"Question." Willow said quietly.

"Yeah?"

"Is a hug.supposed to feel this good?"

"I dunno. And right now.I don't care."

"Me either."

Buffy pulled her head away, a pleasant, dizzy sensation pumping through her. She kissed Willow's chin, then her cheeks, then her forehead, then her nose.and that's when Willow whimpered a little.

She brought her finger up to her lips, and Buffy got the message. It was one long, "losing all air" type of kisses, and they found that those were the best kind. They stopped trying to regain their breathing, and all the emotion that had just passed through them, reached the maximum point.

They both dropped into sitting positions on the ground, silent tears running down their faces. It was all like a dream. It wasn't really possible to feel this good. Nobody was supposed to. And they were selfish and evil, because they didn't give a damn whether or not they were supposed to or not.

"That was.really." Willow said.

"Overwhelming?"

"Yeah, but in a good way."

"Lots of good here. 'I love you' is just becoming more and more inadequate, isn't it?"

"I like hearing it, though."

"Actually, I like saying it too. Love you."

"Love you too, Buffy."

They didn't see the vampire looming over them.

Buffy jolted awake, in bed. For a second, she was panicking. She didn't just make all that up. Did she? Couldn't have. Then she felt an arm trying to pull her back down. She looked over.

Smiling, she raked her fingers through Willow's hair. "I knew it wasn't a dream." She closed her eyes, and went back to sleep.

"When I held that gun, I felt an incredible surge of power. Like God must feel when he's holding a gun.." (Homer J. Simpson)

"You've been fighting evil here for three years, and I've helped some, and now we're supposed to decide what we want to do with our lives. And I just realized that that's what I want to do. Fight evil, help people. I mean, I think it's worth doing. And I don't think you do it because you have to. It's a good fight, Buffy, and I want in."

"I kind of love you."
(Willow Rosenberg, Buffy Summers, BTVS)

"Don't.."
"What? Don't love you? I didn't know I got a choice in that."
(Angel, Buffy Summers, BTVS)
