Ivy,
I've got to disagree with you there about Angel wanting to be a
superhero and take away Buffy's memories to "add insult to injury." While he
could have stayed human, when he spoke to the TPTB they told him Buffy would
die sooner than she was supposed to because of an army of demons. Angel lost
more than Buffy when he asked the TPTB to change him back to being a vampire
so he could continue to fight the evil and let Buffy live. (or at least as
long as she would have.) As for her losing her memories, that was part of
the price he paid, he alone had to live with the memory of happiness with
Buffy, for everyone else it never happened.
