a crossover challenge; "With Great Power..."
Okay, you want a crossover idea, why not this one?
Buffy meets Spider-Man
I think there's a great deal of potential here. Both Buffy and Spider-Man(if you're at all familiar with the character) have a similar theme; semi-reluctant heroes who nonetheless accept the responsibity of who they are; the recurring theme of Spider-Man is "With great power, there must also come great responsibility."
They both started their careers in high school, and later through college. They both go into action with a sense of humor; both Buffy and Spidey tend to make wisecracks at the expense of their opponents.
They have both known tragedy in their lives; Spidey once stood back instead of stopping a burglar, who later killed his uncle Ben, and later was unable to stop his arch enemy the Green Goblin from killing his girlfriend Gwen Stacey. Buffy was forced to kill her boyfriend, and later was unable to save her mom from a brain tumor.
Spider-Man and Buffy both have their share of interesting villains. C'mon, who wouldn't want to see the Green Goblin leading an army of Gentlemen, or Ethan Rayne hanging out with Venom, or Spike working as a hitman for the Kingpin. Spider-Man also has his own vampire nemesis of sorts, a lab-created vampire called Morbius. Hook him up with Maggie Walsh of the Initiative. Spidey has also been known to hang with Blade the Vampire Hunter (played by Wesley Snipes in the movie).
C'mon! Who's up for the challenge? Let's see our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and how he'd deal with the unfriendly neighborhood of Sunnydale.

(still thinks Nicholas Brandon should play Peter Parker in the movie)
