The Spell Unspoken/ A Call to Arms 9/?

Willow threw herself on her bed. She sobbed quietly into the
pillows. Her secret was out. She'd heard Buffy's words but she was
afraid to believe them.

"Willow please don't cry" Kida begged. She sat on the edge of the
Wiccans bed and rubbed her back. She remembered doing so when they
were younger and Willow was upset about something. It usually worked
then.

And it still did.

"She knows Kida" Willow choked out between breath stealing sobs "You
heard her panic, she tried to cover it up but she panicked"

"She was surprised Willow" Kida attempted to pull Willow up
straight, but the witch resisted. After several attempts Kida gave
up.

"She's straight Kida" Willow buried her face further into her tear
soaked pillow "And now she knows I'm attracted to her. Our
friendship as I know it is over"

"No it isn't" Kida argued.

"Yes it is" Willow sat up abruptly "I know her better than you do.
She doesn't like girls"

"She loves you" Kida pointed out.

"As a friend. She doesn't want me like I want her" Willow flopped
onto her back "That's why Tara left. She knew I was in love with
Buffy. She pointed it out to me in fact"

"Tara left for a different reason. It wasn't you or Buffy. And just
because Buffy doesn't like girls like that doesn't mean she doesn't
like you" Kida frowned at Willow.

"I'm a girl too genius" Willow pointed out.

"Yeah. But your also Willow. She probably loves you as much as I do"
Kida turned to stare out the window "Possibly more"

"What?" Willow pulled Kida down next to her, but she couldn't seem
to catch the mystics gaze "Hey I'm talking here"

"I heard you" Kida mumbled.

"So answer me" Willow pinched her arm.

"Ow. I plead the fifth. And I repeat. Ow" Kida rubbed her arm.

"Well that's just a pain in my a- Uh Kida, is that a friend of
yours?" Willow sat up slowly eyeing the tiny intruder.

"Huh?" Kida sat up firmly. She relaxed her stance when she saw who
it was "What are you doing here? Isn't this against the highest
regulation?"

The little girl stood silently in the doorway. She watched as the
Wiccan and the Mystic rose to seated positions on the bed before
speaking.

"She wants you" The childs voice was small but firm.

"Me?" Willow poked her chest thinking the child was talking about
Buffy.

"Not you silly. Though the slayer does love you. She wants Kida" The
child stressed the pronoun.

"Oh" Willow pointed up "The big she"

"Yes" the girl smiled.

The smile reminded Willow of someone. But she couldn't place it.

"Are you coming?" Kida asked nervously glancing from the little girl
to Willow.

"No. I'm to stay here until you return" the child took a seat next
to Willow and took her hand "Don't worry I know my limits"

"Okay" In a flash of light Hakida disappeared.

Willow blinked several times trying to rid herself of the spots
behind her eyes. "Did it have to be so bright?"

The little girl chuckled and waved her small hand in front of
Willows eyes. The spots instantly disappeared.

Willow got a good look at her then. She had deep red hair like her
own, but her eyes were a grayish green the reminded her uncannily of
Buffy. She was small in stature with pale skin that usually
accompanied the red hair. There were freckles across her nose, and a
crooked grin that still bothered Willow which she couldn't place.

"So what's your name?" Willow brought the childs hand closer to her
body and rubbed it with both hands.

"You tell me" the little girl said honestly. Not a hint of teasing.

"Hmm. I dunno lets go ask Buffy" Willow hopped off the bed. She
scooped the child up blancing her on her hip "So your what 5 or 6?"

"5 1/4" the girl said proudly.

"Even better" Willow smiled. The grin was identical.

"She's attracted to me" Buffy hugged herself.

"And you knew this right?" Dario asked trying not to laugh and ruin
the slayers happy moment. They were after all, few and far inbetween.

"I do now. But I think I kinda did. Just blew it off as wishful
thinking" Buffy grabbed Dario's arm gently "I really do have a
chance don't I"

"Yeah. You better take it. And treat her right, because if you don't
I'll have to come kick your skinny slayer ass" Dario punched Buffy
in the arm.

"Ouch. Over-protective much" Buffy joked, she was actually enjoying
the mystics company.

"Only when it comes to my Kida, and those she loves" Dario said
sniffing haughtily.

"Well- Willow who's that?" Buffy noticed the Willow stood in her
doorway holding a child that looked remarkably like the witch.

"I don't know. I asked her name and she said for me to tell her. I
just thought I should bring her to you and we'd chose together"
Willow paused thinking "It was a strange notion."

Buffy smiled. Willow had thought to include her in something. She
had a sneaking feeling it was something special. "Great. But what to
call her"

Dario stared the child down "What are you doing here?"

"The Goddess sent me to fetch Hakida. She told me to stay here until
Hakida returned" the girl delivered this calmly smilng at Dario.

Buffy and Dario realized at the same moment that the smile was
Willow's.

The girl turned to Willow and smiled at her as well. She enjoyed
being carried "I love you"

Willow smiled back at the child. Dario shook her head, she turned to
remark about Willow's sappiness to Buffy only to find the Slayer
intranced with the child as well.

Dario sighed and chuckled to herself, If they only knew what the
Goddess had planned for their union. She'd apparently decided to
start now.

"Rowen" Buffy and Willow said at the same time.

Dario jumped slightly "What?"

"We'll call her Rowen" Buffy said firmly.

"Yeah Rowen" Willow said genly stroking the girls hair.

'Rowen' lay her head on Willow's shoulder and sighed.

"You agree to Rowen?" Buffy asked the little girl.

She simply nodded and smiled at the Slayer.

"Then Rowen it is" Willow confirmed.

"Well Rowen. It seems the Goddess has something more for you" Dario
sent her a meaningful glance.

"I know" Rowen sighed and made herself more comfortable on Willow's
shoulder.

"You need a nap don't ya?" Willow rubbed her back gently "I need one
to, wanna share?"

Rowen yawned and nodded.

"Ok let's go back okay?" Willow turned and left the room. When she
entered the hall she narrowly missed colliding with Dawn.

"Oh Sorry Dawnie" Willow righted the girl with her free arm "I
didn't see you"

"It's okay. Who's the kid?" Dawn asked catching a good look at
Rowen "She looks like she could be your sister"

"This is Rowen. Dawnie, Rowen, Rowen sweetie this is Dawnie" Willow
gave the short intro.

"Your the Key" Rowen reached out and touched Dawn's forehead "But
your true gifts are untapped"

"Your the Oracle" Dawn said surprised by the knowledge. It seemed to
have just jumped into her head when the child touched her. "I'm
really tired Willow. I'll see you later. Bye Rowen."

"Until next time" Rowen resettled herself.

"What was that about? Oracle?" Willow shifted Rowen to look into her
eyes. The knowledge was hidden behind the innocence of her gaze "I
suppose you tell me when I'm ready"

"Yes. Can we sleep now?" Rowen yawned again for good measure.

"Sure baby come on" Willow made her way into her bedroom.

"Yes My Goddess" Hakida dropped balancing herself on her right foot
leaning her weight on her left knee. She had her fisted right hand
over her heart and her fisted left lifted above her head, as was
customary when greeting her goddess.

"You may rise" The disembodied voice seemed to spiral around
her. "You are quite adept at following the procedures I set. Except
when it comes to looking like one of my chosen"

"You called me up here to complain about how I look?" Kida rested on
her knee's knowing better than to rise fully.

"Yes and No. I called you here to set a few things into motion.
First I sent the Lost Oracle to fetch you, while she is there my
little Calypso and Slayer will name her" the goddes began to take
form. Grayish blue smoke whirled around Kida playfully before taking
human form. She stood nearly 6ft tall and was draped in a soft
flowing robe.

"So Willow is the Calypso" Kida sighed "But why did you send the
Lost Oracle to be named by her? Aside from the obvious, Willow is
her mother in an Alternate Reality, thing. You realize she's now
stuck where she is?" Kida sighed heavily. She'd never understand
gods.

"Yes I realize that the child is now a permenant fixture in that
world. It was the only way to un-lose the lost Oracle. Is un-lose a
word?" Artemis took a seat on the silver throne the dominated
room "Well anyway, I also called you here to tell you I've decided
to change your lowly status. I'm going to make you equal to my other
Mystic advocates. Though you are already equal in power."

"So what I'm being promoted to-?" Kida sat back on her heels.

"I'm going to let you keep your little red head. Your assigned to
protecting the Slayer her witch and the little family they've
created. Which unfortunately includes the demon that destroyed
your's" The Goddess sighed when she saw Kida tense "I apologize
child, but the demon and her mate are also important in the
prophecy. I suggest you make your peace."

Kida sighed knowing there was no reasoning with the tone the Goddess
had used "I can forgive her, even Vengance demons have 'human
failings'. Um do I have to leave Dario?"

"No, she will always be with you. Not even I could keep her away.
Well atleast not without killing her, or you. Good thing you are
both to valuable to me to kill" Artemis crossed her legs and watched
the Mystic bristle at the off-hand way she spoke of their lives.

"To valuable to kill. Nice." Kida rolled her eyes.

Artemis sighed, she knew when she wouldn't get much more of a rise
out of the girl. Unfortunately she'd hit that point to quickly "Well
I suppose you should get back to this little family. This Buffy girl
makes an interesting Slayer. I've never known one to be so social.
Except maybe Faith, the mistaken one. Until next time"

"Wait I have one more question. What do you mean I can keep my red
head?" Kida held up a hand to still the goddess from sending her
back without answering her. The ploy didn't work.

"I may answer that......next time" The goddess waved a regal hand
and Kida vanished from the throne room. But not without leaving the
last word.

"Well that was bitchy" the words rang out clearly even though Kida
was no longer in the realm.

"I'll have to punish her for that" Artemis smiled. She knew exactly
what to do.

Rowen sat up quickly, she was jerked awake by the slight pain in her
head. Willow sat up as well in reaction to the abrupt movement.

"What's wrong did you have a nightmare?" Willow gathered the shaking
child to her.

"No. Kida made the goddess mad. She's on her way back" Rowen blinked
several times hoping the pain behind her eyes would disappear soon.

"What? How did she piss off the goddess?" Willow asked wondering how
the girl got her information.

"Now that I don't know. Maybe we should ask her. But I wanna finish
my nap first" Rowen smiled up at Willow tiredly.

Willow stroked the little girls cheek and lay back down with Rowen
stretched across her stomach.

"Later's good"

"So how do I go about getting Willow to know I'm interested" Buffy
asked making herself comfortable on the guest bed.

"I don't know what Willow likes, or really what she's like. But the
constant touching thing worked for me when I wanted Hakida" Dario
shrugged.

"Touching? I can do touching, plenty of touch I can handle" Buffy
babbled before she realized what she was doing.

"You both babble like little monkey's. It's frighteningly endearing"
Dario said with a straight face.

"Well I-" Buffy was cut off when there was a short scream and loud
thump in the closet behind her "What the hell?"

Dario rushed to the closet door and threw it open.

Hakida lay on the floor of the closet covered in a sweet smelling
gooey substance, moaning.

"She's lucky she's a goddess. Not that I'd think of hurting her
anyway" Kida mumbled pulling herself up slightly.

"What did you do to make her punish you?" Dario said holding back
her laugh.

"I had a few, rude, last remarks to her treatment of me" Kida wiped
at the yellowish substance "I never thought she'd send me through
Astrial Amniotic Fluid. She would have been a great Vengance Demon"

"Astrial Amni-what?" Buffy asked coming up behind Dario "Eww your a
gooey mess"

"Yes. Can I use your shower" Kida rose dripping slightly onto the
hard wood floor.

"Yeah it's down the hall to the left. Next to Willow's room" Buffy
pointed towards the right wall "Towels are in there"

"Thank you" Kida started towards the door. But not before she
noticed Dario's laughing eyes "What?"

Dario shook her head mutely. She slowly twirled her hair around her
fingers.

"Kida. I like the new do. The braids were nice but the wavy look
suits you" Buffy remarked as she to held in a laugh.

"She took my hair out?" Kida whined. She ran out of the room and
down to the bathroom.

"The hair a sore point?" Buffy asked.

"She keeps it braided as a symbol from her old life. If it's taken
out three times after she's been pledged to someone she can't put it
back in" Dario frowned.

"Number three huh?" Buffy guessed.

"Oh yeah. But I like it loose" Dario smiled "It's easier to run my
fingers through, though the braids did make lovely handle bars" she
choked back a laugh.

Buffy chuckled as well "Handle bars"
