P.S. on a slightly related note...what is it
that makes people think Willow/Spike is a good pairing? Honstly, i can easily
picture Willow with just about anyone (of course, Buffy being the easiest) , but
Spike? It just doesn't work!

I've got to admit that Willow is the easiest character in the entire show
to ship.
As for Willow/Spike, if I squint really hard and look at it out of the
corner of my eye as I run past it on a moonless night, then maybe I can see how
it might work.
The question then becomes 'Would you want see it?' (the answer is of course
NO!!!)
::Mike picks up an axe, stands between Spike and the Scoobies and
starts channelling Joyce Summers::

Spike doesn't belong with Buffy, or Willow, or Xander, or Giles, or anyone
else who isn't a crazy bitch named Dru.

There were two spots they could have gone
there and made it work: The
Freshman: Buffy's depressed and feeling abandoned by Willow, Giles,
and Joyce. She's feeling lost, and enters the Bronze. She thinks,
for a moment, she sees Angel, but it's someone else. Then Xander
makes his first appearance of the season, and is just what she needs,
right then. I suspect they brought Anya back to get Xander out of
Riley's way.
The second time was in Lessons. When Xander comes in the door in his
suit and tie, didn't he, Buffy, and Dawn look like the cozy family unit?

There was a romantic vibe to Buffy's scenes
with both Xander and Willow, created entirely by how the actors played their
scenes.

There were enough romantic vibes flying between B/W/X to flatten
southern California :)

I hated the Anya/Xander ship from the very start (a poor copy of the funny
Cordelia/Xander ship that became a massive sucky black hole where lazy ass
writers dumped Xander when they moved on to their shiny new Riley and
(later) Spike toy). As for Buffy/Giles, well, it's a million times better
than Buffy/Spike, isn't it?

Any other Dawn pairing (Faith, Xander (ick),
and Tara seem
popular) would have to be set in serious AU territory long after
BtVS Season 7/ Angel Season 5.

I can see a season 9 Dawn/Xander ship working (but not before, Xander isn't
a sleaze like Spike or Angel).
One happy idea I had was post W/T break up, having B/W and T/X.
