Faith will never get as close to Buffy/Willow and Xander as the three 
are with each other. Simply put, Faith does not put enough energy in 
it.

And the fact that they never had anything with each other, gave them 
the oppertunity to get so close. S6 is vital for it.

Xander said in Welcome to the Hellmouth:
"Oh, me and Buffy go waaay back, old friends, very close. Then 
there's that period of estrangement where I think we were both 
growing as people, but now here we are, like old times, I'm quite 
moved."

This hold true for all three of them and makes the bond so strong.
