Ok, out of the shadows for one thing, have to...I see Faith...and oh yeah, I can hear the ARE YOU INSANE already...I see Faith as the Willow that Will could have been, had things been diff. I think that it was made clear that Will had the darkness in her, just like we all do...it's how we deal with it, what we do with it...so in my eyes, Faith and Will are 2 sides of the same coin. If you really look at it, at them, Faith underneath it all, was as shy, as scared, as withdrawn as Willow...but she built the tough bad a@! facade and used it for all it was worth.

 

And I so never saw anything in the b/f world...way too cliche...I always saw it more as a...hmmm, I would love to be able to do that...to say screw it all and do what I wanna...Buffy envied her, at first...but did she ever tell her those 3 little words? I know she said them to Will several times.

He's the one who acknowledged that the subtext was intentional, that
they were written as attracted to each other.  It was a metaphor for
how Faith was trying to get Buffy to see being a Slayer her way, and
how Buffy was attracted to that.

The Slayer mind and history seemed to be Petrie's specialty.  If
you'll notice, all the major episodes centering on the psychology,
history, and mythology of the Slayer that Joss didn't do himself were
written by Petrie.  Even "Fool For Love" was mainly a Slayer history
and psychology episode.
