Chapter two

Willow awoke to feel two very strong arms wrapped tightly around her, not in an uncomfortable way, but in a way just so she knew how strong they were.

Turning her head she regarded the sleeping Buffy. Looking hard at her, she noticed that she looked tired, even when she was asleep. She never noticed last night. The joy of having her back overruled anything out of the ordinary she should have detected.

She was brought out of her musings when she noticed Buffy was looking back at her.

"Morning." Moving her head forward she accepted the kiss that was waiting on Buffy's lips.

"Mmm good morning." Buffy began purring when she felt Willow stoking the arm that was wrapped around her body. Looking over to the clock on Willow's nightstand, she noticed that it was 6am. The sun was up and willow needed to start getting ready for school.

"You should get up its 6am." Her actions belayed her words as she tightened her grip around Willow's body.

"What are you gonna do all day? What have you been doing all day for the last six months?" Willow was really curious and Buffy thought she heard a miffed off tone coming from her lover.

"Will, I couldn't show up when everyone thought I was dead — am dead — like this. I was scared of what would happen. I didn't know whether or not you or anyone else could accept me the way I am now. Giles tried to stake me, granted it was when he though I was a blood sucking fiend - but I am a blood sucking fiend - I just don't go for the jugular. That hurt. I figured it was what would happen so I stayed hidden, but I was always near. You have no idea what it's like to be so close to being a part of something only to not be apart of it."

She was determined not to cry. Buffy felt Willow trying to turn in her arms so she lessened her hold on her.

"Baby, Giles was wrong to do that and he knows it. You saw how he reacted when he found out you had a soul."

"You always knew didn't you?" Buffy had been wondering why Willow was so trustworthy of a Vampire, even if it was her.

"There was never any doubt in my mind. You weren't some demon that wanted to kill us — you were Buffy. My Buffy."

Buffy's growl of approval at being claimed once again by her Mate was interrupted by Willow's alarm going off.

"So. What are you doing today?"

Letting Willow get out of bed Buffy answered her.

"I'm gonna go home and check out some stuff then head over to the library, so you can meet me there." She watched as Willow spun round to face her, enjoying the view of her breasts swinging with the motion of her body.

"Where are you living?"

"You know that huge place over on Crawford Street? There." She waited for Willow to blow up. She didn't have to wait long.

"WHAT!?! That place is huge! How did you afford it?"

Buffy debated whether or not to answer that truthfully. It would mean dragging up things that she would really rather not talk about. Looking at Willow and realising that she couldn't lie she told her.

"My Sire. The Vampire that Made me. He was very powerful and very rich. Before I killed him, he told me about that place, and money he had hidden there, in the hopes that I would spare him, but I never did."

She looked up at Willow's gasp.

"What?"

"You killed your Sire?" Willow knew what a big deal that was for a Vampire.

Buffy looked at her like she had two heads.

"Of course I did! He was a monster. He turned me into a demon! Angelus would have come after everyone I loved even after he turned me and that would have involved you! In fact he would have went after you first! I couldn't let that happen." She noticed that Willow paled at the mention of Angelus.

Getting out of bed she walked to Willow and looked her dead in the eye.

"Willow, I hated him, but even if I didn't I would still have killed him because he would have hurt you. I'll kill anything that ever wants to or tries to hurt you." It was said with such passion that Buffy had to fight to keep her face set on Human.

Giving Willow a small, soft kiss on the mouth, she walked over and began getting dressed. Hearing Willow leave to take a shower Buffy wondered if she came on a little too strongly but she needed Willow to know that she would do anything to protect her.

Buffy finally got to the library around 10am. She had to swing by her place to change and feed. The butcher had delivered the blood as promised so she now had sufficient to last her a week.

Sneaking into the building was laughably easy. She had discovered that the tunnel system in Sunnydale travelled through the whole town so she could get nearly anywhere without the threat of the sun.

Walking into the library she saw Giles sitting at the head table staring into his cup of tea. Deciding not to scare him she approached him making as much noise as possible to alert him to her presence. It didn't work. Reaching out she gave his shoulder a slight push and was rewarded by Giles whipping his head round so fast it was lucky he didn't suffer whiplash.

"Sorry. I tried making noise but you were pretty out of it. What's up?" Buffy sat down on the seat opposite him and waited for him to speak. When he did she wished that he hadn't.

"What happened?" Knowing that he wasn't talking about last night but about the event that changed her life six months ago, Buffy decided to stall him by giving him a watercolour of the night before.

"I took her home and reclaimed her. Repeatedly." She never felt embarrassed talking about this stuff with Giles. He was her watcher even if technically she was no longer the Slayer of the time.

Looking at him she knew that he wouldn't let it drop and was about to answer him when a smell hit her senses. Willow. Standing she turned to face the door and waited for Willow to walk through it.

"Hey you. I see you got here without bursting into flames. That's good." Willow's happy demeanour put Buffy at ease and she happily accepted Willow's kiss, purring as she did so, though she broke it off before it really progressed.

"Used the tunnels. Actually I just arrived so I haven't been here long. You on a free period?"

"Yeah so I thought I'd see if my girl stopped by. And hey you did."

Buffy's eyes flashed Amber at the 'my girl' comment but she quickly regained control sensing that Giles really wanted to talk to her about this. Sitting on a chair, she pulled Willow onto her lap before telling her what Giles had asked before she had come in. Looking over to him, she began but left out the more gruesome parts of her turning.

"-then when the others were dead I turned to him. He pleaded for his life but I dusted him. I demolished the whole line that night. I'm the only member left of clan that I know of. I couldn't take the chance that they would come after any of you."

The last was said looking at Willow but Giles knew that they all were included in the statement.

"I know that you left some of it out and I can guess what happened. I read Giles books on Angelus and how he operated." It was said for Buffy's ears only as Willow didn't want Giles t overhear.

Buffy looked to Willow and realised that she did know. That was the reason she had paled earlier when Buffy had mentioned Angelus, not because Buffy came on too strong with the protectiveness. Giving a small shake of her head to indicate that she didn't want to talk about it there and then, she was glad when Willow dropped it, thought she knew they would have to talk about it and soon.
