Part nineteen

Buffy was standing in the kitchen, just after Willow left. She was torn. On the one hand she wanted to take Willow as her own, but on the other, she didn't want to bog her down with everything that came with her new status. She was pulled out of her musings when she smelt her mother standing just outside the door.

They hadn't spoken much the night before and she was nervous.

"Buffy."

"Hey..." she was going to say 'mom' but she wasn't sure her mother would appreciate it.

Joyce walked into the kitchen and took a seat on the stool closest Buffy.

"Why did you wait so long before you let anyone know you weren't dead?" The question was out before Joyce could stop it, even though it wasn't the one she wanted to ask.

Buffy lifted her head and looked at her mother.

"I am dead mom. Well undead, and to answer your question I didn't wait because I didn't tell anyone that I was still around. Willow knew somehow and she's gonna explain everything this morning."
Joyce just stared at Buffy letting all of that sink in.

"You were going to let everyone just assume that you were gone?"

"Oh come on, you've made no secret of the fact that you hate the undead. You and Xander are the most outspoken about them, though he strangely seems to be okay with it... me. I just... I didn't want you to be disappointed in me." At the last part, Buffy averted her eyes and tried not to cry.

She wasn't startled when she felt two arms envelop her as she had sensed her mother move, and her tears came once again.

"I'm sorry mom, I didn't mean for this to happen."

"Oh Buffy, no matter what your still my daughter you hear me?"

Buffy nodded and finally gained back her control. They were interrupted by Xander's shout.

"Everyone in the main room. Will's gonna start her story."

When everyone was seated Willow stood up. She didn't like that all their attention was on her but she knew she had to get through this.

"Okay fist things first. I'm not exactly the Willow you all know-" she was cut off when she was grabbed by Buffy who buried her head in Willow's neck.

Karen shot up out of her seat but Willow shook her head no and she sat back down.

Buffy was breathing in Willow's scent, she was convinced that the Willow before her was hers, but after a remark like that she just had to make sure.

She smelt the perfume that Willow had used, she smelt the shower gel as well, and under that she smelt Willow. Happy that she was right she was withdrawing her face when she spotted something on Willow's neck - teeth marks.

The demon in her sprang forth and a growl was heard throughout the room making Karen stiffen once more.

Buffy's demon was incensed that someone else had marked HER mate, and Willow knew exactly what was going through her mind. She smiled, happy that she wasn't wrong about her and Buffy.

"Who?" The growl was heard by all, as what Willow's answer.

"You. Only you."

Buffy pulled back to look into Willow's eyes and saw nothing but truth. The Vampire looked again at the marks and a sudden shot of lust went through her. She growled again and Willow who could by know tell the different between the I'm-so-angry-right-now and the oh-I-want-you-right-now growls smiled.

"How?"

"If you'd sit down and let me finish I could tell you."

Buffy's demon retreated before she turned to face the others and she sat down beside Troy, wondering just how her mark was on Willow, and trying to squash her lust long enough to listen to the how of the story.

It wasn't lost on Troy, who had seen Buffy vamped face from his angle, that she had allowed Willow to see her true face but hidden it from the others. He could also tell how aroused Buffy was and it was making him harden inside his leather pants.
