As Buffy and Willow woke groggily that afternoon, they could barely hear a faint bustle downstairs. Instincts kicking in to protect her girlfriend, Buffy sprang from the bed and hurried to the door, pulling on a pair of jeans and a beater as she went. Willow, still dazed from her sleep being interrupted sat still in the center of the mattress, waiting for a resolution as to who (or what) was creating the racket downstairs. Buffy motioned to her to stay put as she silently crept out into the upstairs hallway and to the stairwell. Still unable to see anything, she slowly and cautiously slid down the stairs, careful to avoid the creaky spots and potential giveaways to her position. She peered around the corner of the banister and saw her mother and Giles in the hallway. At first she thought to spring forward and save her mother from her watcher, who had apparently decided to attack her in broad daylight. It was as her mind analyzed that thought that she realized that Giles was not attacking her mother, but rather kissing her. And kissing her quite passionately.
'and to think all those times they made fun of me for having a crush...wait a minute, that's Giles...and my mom...and they're....KISSING!'
"MOM! Mom what are you doing?" Buffy finally vocalized her thoughts, although she hadn't realized she'd done so until her watcher and her mother looked away from each other and stared fearfully into her eyes.
"Buffy! Oh god Buffy, I can explain...you see...Mr. Giles and I have been...discussing...discussing some really important parts of your education and have decided that it's in your best interest to..."
"To make out? Wow, I never realized that you two getting it on would lead to furthering MY education...must be a new thing...either way, keep it down, you woke us up....and before either of you say anything about willow and myself just remember that I just caught you guys making out in the hallway with me upstairs...ok...have a nice day." Buffy cheerily concluded her interlude and made her way back up the stairs, leaving her mom and watcher gaping like fish out of water.
As she returned to her bedroom, a smile crept upon Buffy's face. 'Never in a million years' she thought, 'I would have never thought that she would ever find anyone like Willow. But now that she found her what was she going to do, I mean, I always mess this stuff up and now that I have finally found something that can make me happy, and keep me happy for that matter, what can I do to prevent myself from messing everything up.' As these thoughts raced through her mind, similar ideas were flowing through the mind of a certain redhead, crouched on the bed awaiting her return. 'wow, that was some dream I just had, I mean come on, one minute we're talking, and they we're kissing and then she's telling me that she cares about me more than anything else in the world...that's some fantasy...or was that real?'
'It was real' a voice answered from inside her head, a strangely familiar voice.
'Buffy? Is that you?'
"Yep, it sure is, I'm not sure how of course, but this is kinda cool'
'You heard everything I just thought?'
'No, only the things you just said...I wonder why?'
'I know you wonder, I can hear you wondering, why wonder, or why when you wonder will I whose with your brain'
'Whoa, slow down Will, take it easy...I think its just a connection between the two of us, I think it's just because we're so close...maybe it has something to do with that spell you did...'
'What spell, I did a spell?
'Yeah, last night...with the snakes...Will, you levitated them all and they burst into dust, that was some spell...you don't remember?'
'No, I don't...not at all actually...I mean, I felt that I had done something, but I thought it was just the failed spell's residue...I did a spell that actually worked?'
"Yeah baby, worked like a charm" Buffy finally spoke with her voice as she intertwined her finger's with her girlfriend as Willow turned to face her. "I think everything's gonna be just fine...we just need to figure out what happened with the spell is all." She placed a comforting kiss upon Willow's lips; they rested their foreheads against one another and breathed together. "Alright, let's figure this thing out."
