Obsession

part twelve

"So, how did the hunt go?" Buffy was lounging on the plush red carpet, a glass of wine in her hands.

"Good, the minions are collecting the bodies as we speak from the cars. The pit they dug out was massive, so we should be good for a while." Gunn plopped down beside her and closed his eyes, breathing in her comforting scent.

Wes was reading over some of his books. It wasn't very well known, but Wes used to be a watcher in another life. One he was happy to have left behind.

He was looking for a way to help his Sire.

He didn't want to have to stay in Sunnydale. He wanted to go back to their mansion in L.A, one which made this mansion look like a two bedroom apartment.

So that was why he was looking for a way to subdue the Slayer. Instead of having to wait until she turned to their way of thinking, something Wes doubted, no matter how much she was enthralled with Buffy. He was hoping to find something he had heard talk of when he was a young watcher.

Subdue the Slayer, kidnap her and leave. Buffy could play until her heart was content, then if she wanted to, she could turn the girl. Or kill her, whatever.

His eyes lit on the page he needed after three days and he read through the list of ingredients he would need to create the mixture.

Standing and stretching, he left his room to go and find his Sire, hoping that she would go for his plan.

"Wes, I thought you'd be sleeping by now." Buffy relaxed against her bed, signalling for her Childe to come closer.

She noticed he was fidgeting and wondered what was worrying him.

"Sire, if you could, would you leave Sunnydale?"

"Why? The Slayer is here."

"Yes, but we only came for Angelus."

Buffy sat up and regarded him with hard eyes.

"Yes, but now I want the Slayer."

Wes smiled at that.

"What if I told you that you could have the Slayer and leave here at the same time?"

Buffy's expression changed to one of puzzlement.

"How?"

Wordlessly, he handed her the page, watching as she read. He was happy when a smile graced her lips, glad that he would soon be out of this hellhole of a town.

"I never thought the Watchers would be so wonderfully sadistic to their Slayer's. This is perfect. Do what you have to do, but I want this ready in two weeks." Buffy smiled at him, thinking of all the possibilities this drug would bring her. Things that she was sure would have happened sooner or later; this just made it happen sooner. Which she was glad for.

Willow hadn't seen Buffy or Angelus in over two weeks. She was officially worried. Not about their safety, they could handle themselves in a fight. No, she was worried about what they were up to.

Patrol had been far too quiet for the last week, so quiet in fact, that she had let the gang come with her a few nights ago, and Giles was with her now.

"Giles, what do you think they're doing?"

He shook his head. He had no idea, but he knew it couldn't be good.

One minute they were walking along in silence, the next Buffy stood before them, a little grin on her lips.

"Slayer. Watcher."

Willow wasn't reassured by the look on Buffy's face, to her, it looked too cocky. The Vampire was too sure of herself.

However, she never got to find out. Giles looked on in horror as his charge crumpled to the ground, unconscious with a dart embedded in her neck.

"What...?"

Buffy walked calmly over to the fallen Slayer and slid out the syringe she had in her pocket. Giles stepped up to protect Willow, only to be pulled roughly back by Gunn.

Buffy gently raised Willow's sleeve and wiped the skin with a wipe she had with her before easing the needle into her skin and injecting the compound that would strip the Slayer of her strength, temporally anyway.

"I have to thank you Watchers. If Wes hadn't found out about the Cruciamentum, we would have never thought of simply drugging her and taking her."

Giles looked horrified at the thought of what these demons would do to his Slayer.

"Oh don't worry, you still have the second Slayer." Buffy's look turned hard and she knelt down so they were eye level.

"Don't try to find her, if you do, you all die."

Standing up, Buffy picked up Willow and started walking away.

Gunn thumped Giles on the side of the head. The last thing he saw, was his Slayer being led away, carried in the arms of a demon.
