Dead Prophets

by Rin

And the Winner Is...

[reviews]

The Grammys went by without a hitch. No problem...and Watchers Records definitely scored...especially with Rogue Slayer. Faith's laringytis cleared, so she was good to go on the singing. The days of no voice was killing the normally outspoken, tactless brunette. The Senior partners were happy with the success, and Willow was on cloud nine.

Buffy's book was back on track, and it was in editing now. The blonde was extra quiet about it but she felt the redhead would be super excited to read this copy. Especially since the two actually got to join together...barring, the other two characters joined with them but it was still a monumental process in the life of the witch and slayer. Robin loved it, stating that it was the best installment to the series yet, and Buffy could never be happier.

Right now, they were at Willow's old apartment, celebrating the Grammy success. All the bigwigs were there, and Fred was watching the kids for the two couples. The party was hopping, and Buffy would randomly run her fingertips down the exposure in Willow's dress neckline...which only caused the redhead's heartbeat to increase. Her adrenaline was already pumping big time, and Buffy looked particularly yummy in her white cherry dress. 'Good enough to eat...' was all Willow thought, as she tried to pay attention to Ted from marketing. It wasn't working, though...b/c Buffy kept making googly eyes at her from across the room, and making sure Willow was paying attention while the blonde sucked on the strawberry, or some other piece of juicy fruit. 'Ungh...'

"Excuse me, Ted...I should go...um...over there..." Willow didn't even know what he was talking about anyways. She made her way over to her wife by the food table.

"Hungry?" Buffy's innocent smirk belied the sparkle in her eyes.

"Uh-huh...thought I'd get a snack..." Willow tapped her finger on her chin in concentration, as she scanned the food on the table. 'Let's see...the party isn't over for another three hours...there's a lock on the bedroom door...no other entrances...hmm...this just might work...' "I don't think I see anything I want here."

"Want something from the fridge? I can get it for you. You can keep mingling...do your business thing." Buffy thought the redhead was serious about being hungry. After all, they ate a quick dinner before beelining to make sure everything was ready for the party.

"Nah...I left some junk food back in the bedroom, though. I might go grab some candy. Wanna come with?" Willow kept her innocent face on, inside mentally scheming how to seduce her wife...which shouldn't be hard. They both got off their periods yesterday, so tonight was bound to happen...feminine hormones being what they were...especially super-charged sexual ones gathered over five days, ready to explode on contact.

"What kinda snack food? Candy bars? I could go for a Reese's right now..." Buffy took Willow's offered hand, as the redhead pulled her back to the hallway. She just acted like it was a normal bathroom break...but as soon as Willow had the bedroom door shut, the redhead had Buffy plastered against the door, and lips firmly attached and hungry.

"I was thinking more along the lines of Buffy candy..." Willow started to unzip Buffy's dress in the back, and the blonde couldn't find any reason why they shouldn't... it was their bedroom...and 99% of the people in the main room didn't know this part of the apartment existed. What's a few minutes for a quickie?? She missed Willow, too...since she didn't get to go to the Grammys with her. During the after parties, it seemed all Willow would do was call to check on Buffy and Elita...

"Even better than band candy..." Buffy took the bait, and accidentally ripped Willow's skirt in the process, though neither noticed in the heat of passion, just wanting to feel skin on skin.

"My favorite part is the creamy center..." Willow had Buffy naked in no time flat, and the redhead wasn't far behind, as they crashed onto the bed, and took to the stars, not even paying any attention to anything around them.

"There...gods...Wills...right there...ungh..." Buffy clutched Willow tighter, as the redhead continued pumping and rubbing, doing that rolling thing with her body that the blonde loved so much.

Once they were sated (for the time being), they just lay panting, still clutched atop one another, and sweating, gasping for breath, humming approvals. Willow finally had enough strength to roll off of Buffy, and onto her back...where Buffy cuddled up to her...both sticky messes.

"We should take a shower before we go back out there..." Buffy kissed any patch of glistening skin she could reach without moving too much.

"It'd be even more obvious if we came out smelling fully clean..." Willow chuckled, and played with the blonde locks splayed beside her.

"True...but what will people say when they notice we've been sweating like animals?"

"Also wobbly-legged....I'm thinking we should stay right here for a few minutes until we can walk properly...."

"Yeah...right here sounds like a good place to stay..."

The girls made it to the end of the party without having to answer too many questions to their whereabouts. The excitement was all about Faith and Rogue Slayer anyways. One person did notice, though...

-------------------------------------------

"Mind if I come...?" Eve peeked her head in Willow's office door. The redhead had Elita again for the day. Buffy was on book tour for the fourth book already, and the boss brought the baby boss to work with her everyday. "...in, that is..."

"Sure. I was just putting Elita down for her nap." Willow really hadn't been paying much attention to Eve at all. The girl was good for the company, even if the redhead wished it weren't so. It seemed Eve was doing everything in her power to make herself non-expendable. The sad part? She was damn near close...

"I haven't heard any fits today, so I take it things are going well." Eve had been privy to one of those hissy fits the other day, when 2 year old Elita (she'd just turned 2 last week before Buffy left on tour) had screamed at the top of her lungs when Eve tried to pick her up. That wasn't happening, according to the younger Rosenberg...

"They're going great, actually. She's been a good girl all day." Willow knocked on wood, just for safety precautions. "How's the reports looking? Did you get marketing to make any progress?"

"I...convinced them it was in their best interest to finish them this week." Eve had that smirk on her face...the one that said, 'I always get my way.' Willow hated that smirk.

"I'm thinking about cutting out early today, take Elita to the park when she wakes up. Get out of the office for a while." Willow was actually planning on working from home tomorrow, barring no complications in the system. She hated waking Elita up in the morning. Neither of them were morning people...that was one trait the redhead passed to the baby.

"Must be nice to be boss." Eve had a plan. A plan on how to properly seduce Willow Rosenberg. Phase one was almost complete: make herself expendable to the company, so she can't be fired. Little does she know, the redhead would fire her in a heartbeat...just give her a reason.

"It is sometimes, yes...though I dread the days when things are bad again." Willow relaxed in her office chair. "So...word through the grapevine says you and Lindsay hit it off pretty well at the party. You know he's Watcher Records' lawyer, right?"

"I know that. It's the main reason he wouldn't date me to start with...but I convinced him otherwise." Eve had that damn smirk again. Damn that smirk...

"Well...just don't let pleasure get in the way of business if it comes down to it." Inside, Willow was just waiting...she had her little spies in the system, watching Eve like a hawk. So far, she was still clean. She even thought about calling up Lorne, seeing if he would read her while the liason sang.

"This coming from the woman that used to mix business with pleasure on a regular basis." Eve was privy to that very thing. As was Darla, a few other girls in the music business, and even Susie from accounting. Eve knew everything there was to know about Willow Danielle Rosenberg. Or so she thought...

"That's in the past. You know that. Do I need to kick you out of the office again? Remind you?" Willow crossed her arms, and arched her eyebrow...reminding Eve of their last sexual tryst. The redhead was tired of Eve's mind games, and threw her out of her office. That was the day before she met Buffy. Almost five years ago...

"No need for reminding." Eve had never been dumped before...she hadn't taken it well. Hence, the plan to seduce Willow again. "When does the wife get back?"

"Two weeks. I'm taking Elita to New York with me this weekend to see her. I won't be back in the office until Wednesday, since I'm going to do Glory's contract signing. Xander'll be in charge." Willow knew Eve hated to be bossed. It was one of the original reasons the brunette had seduced her in the first place...b/c she wanted Xander's job. Better yet...she wanted Willow's job. Then, things started to get intense...and the brunette just focused on trying to keep up with the redhead's sexual appetite. Willow was a different kind of challenge after that.

"I'm sure the wife will love that. Don't worry. Xander and I will keep the place running smooth as always..." Eve had to put that tag in there.

-------------------

"Buffy, perhaps I should take Elita on a walk or something while you finish up here." Willow held a fidgety baby in her arms, as she got up from the signing table. Elita just kept asking questions, and being adorable, and taking too much of her mommy's attention. She was just excited to see her other mommy again after a week without her. Willow was too...but the tour manager kept giving her and the baby evil glares. At least they weren't Lilah-like glares, so the redhead felt a little better...

"Sure...wanna just meet back at the hotel tonight?" Buffy kept on signing, and signing, taking the extra comment, and picture as needed.

"Sounds great. We'll go out to dinner tonight. Something fancy?" Willow felt the need to indulge her wife tonight.

"Doublemeat Palace!!!" Elita made her choice.

"Please tell me you're cooking actual food, and not taking her to the Doublemeat every night, Will?" Buffy looked over at her wife in slight admonishment and amusement.

"Not every night...just once a week."

"I've only been gone a week, Wills..." Buffy tried not to laugh at the redhead's obvious blush.

"Okay, okay...so we've gone for dinner a few times. They just built a playplace..." Willow did her little pout, and Elita giggled, as she slapped Willow's cheeks with both hands in a playful manner.

"And who is actually playing in it...you or Elita?" Buffy looked up from her signing again to see Willow avert her eyes. That part was obvious...they'd been together too long for Buffy not to know Willow had a weakness for children's playplaces.

"Okay...so I get in with her...no harm in that...just being a good mother." Willow pouted again, and Buffy was mad that she wasn't close enough to kiss the pout away. "We'll see you tonight, and we'll go out for some REAL food. Okay?"

"Okay...tonight...love ya."

"Love you, too." Willow kissed Buffy's cheek, as she let the little girl give her mommy kisses, too.

The two redheads (baby and mama) started on their walk through Greenwich Village. Willow wanted to get something special for Buffy (like that was any different than the norm), and remembered her wife mentioning she wished there were more artwork in the house. So...Willow took Elita to an art gallery...and they browsed. Not seeing anything there, the redhead started talking to the owner, who suggested a website for art auctions and collections. She might find what she was looking for there...

Then, Willow took Elita to an old-fashioned magick shop. They stayed in there for hours, and Willow took a few pictures with her digital camera (she carried on her at all times for moments like these) when Elita would start to get curious about something. The shopkeeper put a little cape over the little girl when she saw her looking into a crystal ball, trying to see in it. It was a classic picture...like Elita was a little fortune teller. It was too cute. Willow couldn't wait to show Buffy the pictures from the shop.

They lost track of time, and made it back to the hotel with only minutes to spare. Willow hadn't given Elita a nap today, so she'd be in big trouble with the wife later...though in her argument, Elita did fall asleep a little on the taxi ride to Manhattan. She woke up just as Willow walked her into the hotel.

"Hey...how was the last signing???" Willow kissed Buffy, as she walked into the room.

"It was okay. Line was long again, or I would've been here earlier. I just had to say 'stop, that's enough, I can't feel my wrist anymore' after a while. The line was still backed up out the door." Buffy flopped down on the bed. Man, what a day... "Can we just order room service tonight? I don't feel like being around a bunch of people...just my two favorite girls."

"Mommy!!!" Elita came running into Buffy's arms, and the blonde scooped her up without a care in the world. "Mommy and I went shopping today but didn't buy anything."

"Okay...did you see anything nice?" Buffy just looked at Willow with a 'where did that random comment come from' look.

"Yeah...this shopkeeper let me try on outfits, and Mommy took pictures." Elita just wrapped her birth mommy up in a big, giant hug...well, as big as her little arms could handle.

"Well...let's just hope they were G-rated, or else your Mommy's gonna get sent to the bad corner..." Buffy looked at Willow in amusement, seeing how the redhead's eyes were wide from the way Elita's comment sounded.

"She'll show you them, Mommy." Elita...two year old grammar...gotta love it.

"How long did she nap?" Buffy looked at Willow for an answer but went into admonish mode when the redhead wouldn't look at her. "Let me ask you this...when did you get back to the hotel?"

"A few minutes ago?" Willow put on her 'please don't be mad' smile. "She slept in the cab on the way here, though..."

"You know she has to nap, or she's cranky later." Buffy never thought in a million years that she'd be the disciplinarian parent.

"We were just having so much fun, and lost track of time. She really did sleep in the cab..." Willow pouted again, and Buffy rolled her eyes. It was hard to stay mad at Willow...even when she goofs. After all, like mother like daughter, and Elita gets just as excited about things...

"I'll let it slide...this time..." Buffy made no room for arguments, and Willow felt like a bad babysitter. "How about we get something to eat, and rent a movie? Just the three of us..."

"Sounds perfect..." Willow came closer to her wife, and kissed her again. "What are you in the mood for?"

"Hmm..." Buffy took Elita to the couch in the room, and prepared to look over the menu.

"I wanna Doublemeat Medley." Elita had this big grin on her face.

"What have you been feeding her??" Buffy just wanted to laugh at her wife's innocent look.
