Chapter 10
Buffy was curled away in a corner covered only by a sheet that Tara had been smart enough to put over her when Giles came in. He was quick to run off an apology for being late. It had ended up being that the supplier was from India, and knew no English so Giles couldn't talk to him anyway, "What the bloody hell happened here?" he asked looking around the room to where Tara was trying to rouse Willow.
He didn't even see Buffy for a minute, and ran over to check on his slayer. Tara informed him that Riley had came over, and had knocked her, and Willow out. When she didn't mention Buffy Giles began to sense the seriousness of the situation.
"Did he?" Giles asked hoping for an answer, but praying about what the answer might be.
"No," Tara quickly said, but looked over at Buffy, and seemed to reconsider, "Almost. Giles she is even worse than before," Tara said trying to hide her fear, but doing little to actually do that.
Giles nodded, and went over to Buffy to try, and access the situation, "Buffy," he called out gently to her, but with a hidden insistence behind his voice. He never really had to do anything for Buffy. Nor had he really come to know her, he had always done the watched thing, and watched his slayer. Even though his slayers friends were falling.
He walked over to her slowly one step at a time looking for her reaction with every step he took. Tara, and the newly awakened Willow looked on in hopeful attitudes. Hoping, but knowing he wouldn't be able to do anything, that somehow he could get to Buffy.
He was within five feet of her when it happened.
Buffy who had never really liked the violence started to scream, and put up a huge magic shield around herself throwing Giles back until he hit the door.
He landed with a thump on the ground. He was shocked as he shook the stars out of his eyes. He had known she was practicing magic, but what she had just done was more powerful than anything he had got to at he age.
He stood up on shaking legs with the help of Willow, and Tara. The three looked over to Buffy who was rocking back, and forth muttering words to herself.
They decided to leave her in the room deciding that they really couldn't do anything if they couldn't get close. Willow, Xander, Anya, Tara, and Giles were all sitting in the lobby of the dorm. They had tied Riley up, and put him in Giles car.
"So Giles what do we do?" Xander asked looking to the watcher like they always did in situations like this.
"Truthfully?" Giles asked taking off his glasses, and starting to clean them. Xander, and the others nodded so he gave them the truthful answer, "Well if we asked the council they would say to kill her. They really don't like powerful magic sources that they know they can't control. But what we should do is keep on trying. We have to find a way to get through. So first of all I say Willow, and Tara go in. Since if I am as good at detecting a couple as when I was a kid I could swear you three are *cough* together."
Xander was looking at Willow with a look of awe on his face, "R-really?" he asked Willow, and Tara who reluctantly nodded.
Xander was suprised to say the least. Willow, and Tara turned their attention to Giles, and gave him a small nod. He nodded to them, and waved them off. The two girls held hands as they started to walk up the stairs on their way to the room with Buffy in it.
