Taking Her Place

by bad shot

[reviews]

Title: In the Dark I Finally See
Rating: This will eventually be NC-17 for violence, and descriptions of torture.
Spoilers: General season 7, 'Empty Places' to be more specific. Mostly my own vision of the future if Buffy had left after she was kicked out.
Feedback: Yes. If anyone has ever said no. I have no clue who they are.
Pairings: B/W of course, F/D, G/Other
Summary: Buffy left after 'Empty Places' alone, and left the rest to deal with her departure, or to them her desertion.

READ A/N OR YOU MAY GET LOST

Authors Notes: Angel came to Sunnydale like he did in the show, but had to get the scythe by himself. Everything else went pretty much the same; Willow did the scythe thing, Faith used it, they won, pretty simple. Giles is the new head of the council. Everything else you should know or get by some point. Also this takes place 3 years after 'Chosen'

Giles pulled Willow into a hug as soon as she got off the plane. Willow pulled back, and set down the luggage case she had that was strapped around her neck, "I missed you Giles," Willow said having not seen him for almost a year.

Giles gave her a small smile, and started to walk with her to the limo. Willow gave him a small smirk when she saw the huge limo. The driver's door opened up, and a man about 5'11", with sandy blond hair came out, and bowed in front of her, "May I take your luggage Miss Rosenberg?" he asked politely.

When Willow nodded to him he picked up the two suitcases she had brought, and the small bathroom bag, and hauled them into the trunk. Giles politely opened the door for her, and Willow rolled her eyes before going in, "Are you trying to impress me, or something Giles?" she asked when Giles had closed the door behind him, and climbed into one of the leather seats.

Giles reached into the mini fridge, and offered her a drink which she declined. Giles brought out a small bottle of wine, opened it, and poured himself a small glass. Willow shot him another look, "What?" Giles asked her.

Willow fought hard not to laugh, "The last time I saw you you would never have indulged in all these luxuries. In fact I specifically remember you yelling at a waiter at a party last year because he wouldn't stop badgering you about a refill," Willow said remembering how the young man had not come near them for the rest of the night.

Giles stammered trying to regain his composure, "Well... I... He was... I mean... Things change Willow. The circumstances changed," Giles finished lamely.

For Giles sake Willow let the subject drop, "So have you been able to make contact with Buffy?" Willow asked hopefully.

Giles shook his head, "No. I have a group of people looking for something to give us a clue, but all the leads have been wrong."

Willow frowned, and changed the subject again, "So why do we have to have this little get together again?" Willow asked referring to the 3 year anniversary of the victory over The First.

Giles sighed, and repeated what he had said to her fifty times on the phone to get her to come, "We need to bring together all the people that were at the battle to remind them of those we lost. Also it is a time to celebrate the fact that we have started a new era of the Watchers Council."

Willow nodded tiredly, and leaned back in the chair. Within five minutes she was asleep.

Buffy woke alert everyone of her senses stretched as far as they could go. She went to the small bathroom of the abandoned house she had found, and brushed her blond hair that had small red streaks scattered around.

She went back into what she called her room, and pulled out the small garbage bag that held her clothes, and pulled out a small black tank top, and black leather pants.

Buffy walked down the stairs, and threw open the front door walking out into the dawn.

She walked down to the street, and pulled open the door of the old Ford Contour she had found, and started it up.

She pulled into the street, and started down the road following the directions to her next employer.

It took Buffy an hour to find the swanky hotel that her next employer had gave her directions to.

Buffy knocked on the door to the hotel room, and was suprised to find it open immediately.

The obvious demon let her in with a sweeping gesture of his clawed hand. She walked in, and was met by the soft glow of over a hundred candles.

She walked farther in, and saw another demon. This one was fat. It alone took up a quarter of the room. It had horns that scraped the ceiling, and its mouth had green ooze dripping out of it.

It spoke with a weird accent to it, "I am glad you came," it said in its weird voice, "I need you to how do you say... Take out a bump in my road."

Buffy nodded. It's not like she hadn't been doing this sort of thing for the past two, and a half years, "Who? Where? And how do you want it done?" Buffy asked taking out a small hundred page notebook that was already almost completely full from the past six months.

The demon grinned if you could call it that, and motioned to the other demon. It came over, and gave her a small yellow folder.

Buffy looked at the demon, and broke the small seal on it, and started to flip through it. For a second her expression changed into one of remembrance, and anger. The fat demon noticed this, "Something wrong?"

Buffy shook her head, and closed the folder before turning to go out the door. When she reached the doorknob she said, "Just make sure to have the money in my account right after I get done," then she walked out.

Buffy walked into an office building. There was pretty much no one there since it was the manager's birthday, and they had decided on a suprise party . She went up to the security guard at the front desk, "Hello may I help you?" he asked her.

Buffy looked up at him, and forced a small amount of fear into her voice, "Hello sir. I need your help. My h-husband was attacked in the alley beside here, and he won't wake up. Can you come check on him?" she asked batting her eyelids at him. The guard nodded to her, and moved to the phone. Buffy's hand shot out, and covered his hand, "Please I need your help now."

The guard reluctantly left his little place behind the desk, and went out a couple steps in front of her. He looked around quickly, and pulled out a flashlight shining it into the darkness, "I don't see anyone here," was the last thing he said before Buffy came up behind him, and twisted his neck till, a snapping sound came.

Buffy pulled him by his coat further into the alley, and threw him into the dumpster after taking his identification card.

She walked back into the building, and walked up to a door with a device hooked up to it. She inserted the card into it, and a green light winked at her. She opened the door, but went back out to her car, and pulled in a suitcase with her.

She walked up to the tope floor of the twenty story building, and set the suitcase down near the edge. She pulled the many things out of it, and twisted them together to make a sniper. She grinned, and set it up on the edge overlooking the plaza, sat back, and waited.

"Dawn are you almost ready?" Willow yelled upstairs putting the finishing touches on her outfit with diamond earrings.

"Coming!" Dawn yelled while running down the stairs in a pink knee length skirt, and baby blue blouse.

"Finally," Willow said, and opened the door, and started to walk out to the car.

Willow, Dawn, and Giles walked out on the plaza, and instantly were greeted by certain watchers, and slayers. They were mobbed by the crowd, but they managed to get Giles to the podium for his yearly speech.

He cleared his throat, and started his speech, "We all now that this is a day for celebration, but let us have a moment of silence for those we have lost during, and after the battle."

Buffy smiled as her target came into her cross-airs, and at the moment of silence she let one bullet loose.
