A Buffy/ Willow centered romace/adventure story by Cathy North

CHAPTER 1

Joyce Summers sat down quietly on the sofa. The dishes were done and the house was cleaned so it was time to relax. In her hand was the newest copy of her daughter's Seventeen magazine. She thumbed through it silently disapproving of some of the fashions that were being hawked to young girls, such as her own daughter, Buffy. Of course she had long ago accepted the fact that her daughter was pretty, and yes, sexy and that she would look quite attractive in some of the fashions displayed. Still.......one could silently protest, couldn't they? After all I am her mother, Joyce thought.

As she read an article on what to say to a boy on the first date she heard the front door open. Then close. "Hi mom."

"Hi sweety," Joyce replied not looking up. She got a brief glimpse out of the corner of her eye as Buffy walked to the foot of the stairs. Buffy was still wearing her school clothes, a white, mid-thigh pleated skirt and powder blue sleeveless blouse. It was early evening so Buffy had yet to change into her, as Joyce referred to them, patrolling clothes. Joyce would have hardly noticed Buffy except for the fact that jack knifed over her shoulder was a very limp Willow Rosenberg.

"Oh Lord," Joyce cried tossing the magazine aside and popping to her feet. When she reached Buffy, who was half way up the stairs by then, she reached out to stroke Willow's redhair as it sprayed across Buffy's back. Willow's arms flapped softly against Buffy's behind as she climbed the stairs.

"Buffy!? What in t..the world. What's wrong with Willow?"

Buffy paused only long enough to look back at her mother. Then she said matter-of-factly, "She's unconscious."

Buffy put a hand on the railing to steady herself. Her other hand gripped Willow by the right thigh just under the hem of the unconscious Willow's green, white and red plaid skirt. Buffy then continued on up the stairs and down the hall with Joyce following.

"Was there an accident?" Joyce asked nervously looking at Willow for signs of blood.

"Nope. No accident." Buffy said as she carried her burden into her bedroom and over to the bed with Joyce close behind.

"B-but how......why is she unconscious?"

Buffy carefully slid Willow off her shoulder and placed her on her back on the bed. Willow never stirred as Buffy staightened Willow's legs and tugged her skirt into place. "She's unconscious, mom, because I knocked her out."

Joyce gasped, a hand covering her mouth. Buffy smiled softly at her mother and softly rubbed Joyce's back. "Don't worry mom, I did it as nicely as I could."

Joyce rolled her eyes. "For God's sake Buffy how do you......n-nicely knock someone out? How does one go about that?"

Buffy sat down on the bed beside Willow's inert form. With the fingers of her left hand she reached over and turned Willow's head toward the side. There was a small bruise on the under side of Willow's chin. "I guess you're right, mom. Truth is I clocked her."

Joyce could not believe what she was hearing. "Clocked her. You clocked Willow? What does that mean."

Buffy was now careingly smoothing Willow's hair. "Clocked her mom," Buffy said a bit impatiently. "It means I socked her on the jaw with a knock out punch. She shouldn't be knocked out for too much longer."

"Buffy? This is unacceptable. I mean slaying demons and vampires is one thing. But punching out your best friend is another."

Buffy was nonplused. She continued to smooth Willow's thick red hair. "She'll be fine. Just a sore jaw for a day or two."

Well, Joyce wondered, would Seventeen magazine ever run an article on what to say to a daughter that just, admittedly, knocked her best friend out cold? What is there to say? Except, "I'll get some ice for her jaw."

"Good thinking," Buffy said. As Joyce fled the room Buffy pulled Willow up so that she was draped in Buffy's arms. By the time Joyce returned with a towel packed with ice Willow was showing signs of coming to. She was starting to move her lips and her eyes were beginning to flutter. Buffy took the towel from Joyce's outstretched hand and placed it against Willow's chin. "See. She's waking up now. Mom? Be a dear and let us alone. I think Willow and I need to talk."

Joyce flung her arms out in despair. "Well of course. Wouldn't think for a minute to interfere with the business at hand." With one last look at the twosome Joyce Summers sped from the room. "Can you believe this?" she muttered to herself.

After her mother had left Buffy gathered Willow closer to her and kissed the Wiccan on the mouth. It was the first sensation Willow felt, being kissed by Buffy Summers, when she came to. She, of course, returned the kiss as best she could under the circumstances. When embrace ended Willow briefly gazed lovingly into the eyes of her blond friend. Then a furrow crossed her brow as she remembered what had happened.

Buffy and she had been arguing, Willow remembered, behind the bushes in front of the Rosenberg house. Willow had been on her way to meet Dusty Laurent, her new classmate. Dusty, a pretty dark haired girl had been at Sunnydale High for only a few weeks. Willow had met her in her Chemistry class and though the girl seemed aloof to many of the other students, she was warm and friendly to Willow. Indeed, Willow even felt that Dusty had sought out Willow's friendship. But strangely, Buffy had grown suspicious of the girl and even had gone so far as to warn Willow to be careful of her. Willow, on her part, had felt a little flattered that maybe, just maybe, Buffy was a teeny bit jealous. Also, she found Dusty to be kind of.......attractive. She was beautiful, lively and quick to laugh.

And it was about Dusty that Buffy and Willow had been arguing about behind the bushes. Willow, school books in hand, had been on her way to meet Dusty at the library. Dusty admitted to not being a very good student when it came to chemistry. Dusty had asked Willow, who was a straight 'A' student, to help her. Buffy all but ordered her not to go. Though Willow often deferred to Buffy she thought her blond Slayer, lover was going way too far.

"She's dangerous Willow," Buffy had said. "I'm not totally sure why yet but I've looked into some of........."

Buffy had had a grip on Willow's wrist at the time and Willow, now greatly annoyed, had yanked herself free and was about to walk away when Buffy had gripped her again. "Willow! Please. Not tonight. I beg you. Give me a few more days before you let yourself be alone with her.I promise I'll explain everything then"

Willow had tried to brush Buffy off and that is when Buffy had knocked Willow out with one well aimed punch. Even Buffy had realized that knocking Willow cold wasn't exactly the best solution to the problem but, as she stared down at Willow's sprawled form, the deed, right or wrong, was done. Buffy gathered Willow and placed her over her shoulder.

The frown on Willow's face expanded as she thought back. Willow pushed the towel of ice away from her and explored the sore chin with her finger tips. "You socked me Buff. And it hurts."

Buffy hugged Willow pulling the red head against her. "Oh Will. I'm sorry but you have to understand that I had your best interests in mind."

Willow was skeptical about THAT. "Really? Look Buff since we've been pals, and lets be honest, more than just pals, it's not been an unusual occurrence that I have found myself knocked out and kidnapped. It seems to happen on a weekly basis. But what shocks me is that you're the one doing the knock out, kidnapping routine."

"I know, I know," Buffy pleaded. "If you'll just give me a few more days I'll explain everything. Honest."

"You want me to stay away from Dusty for a couple of days. That's it? You mean not having any contact with her at all?"

"No. Just don't be alone with her. I believe she is much more dangerous than you realize."

"I guess I can manage that." Willow said uncertainly. Then she look deeply into the eyes of the Slayer. Buffy met Willows gaze and then slowly her lips moved forward until they met Willow's. Buffy drew Willow against her as she kissed her. Willow wrapped her arms around Buffy's neck locking their two mouths together. Willow open her mouth inviting Buffy's tongue to find her's. A soft moan was drowned by the kiss as Willow's heartbeat increased. Buffy had learned long ago that Willow's sexual passions were barely beneath the surface, and had also learned to her pleasure, that the Wiccan was a devastating lover. The pressure of Buffy's body forced Willow onto her back and Buffy rolled atop pressing her breasts against Willows.
When the kiss ended Buffy looked down at Willow and said softly. "Why don't you call your folks and see if you can spend the night?"

Willow lit up. "Why don't I do that? We have some mending to do don't we?"
