Chapter Nineteen

[reviews]

Courtney twirled around in circles as the stars seemed to dance above her head. She suddenly stood still and said "Come on now, no more fooling around, must hurry if we hope to catch the Slayer before she falls for that nasty little trick." She smiled slightly and laughed a manical laugh as she continued her journey down Main Street before happening upon the highschool. She stood right in front of the main entrance and clapped her hands joyfully as she bounced slightly on her toes. "Goodie goodie gumdrops! So much to do and so little time to do it in." She jumped playfully at the doors before pulling out a stake. Turning suddently she quickly slammed the stake into the unbeating heart of a vampire who had been trailing along behind her since the bus depot. "It's not nice to sneak up on people." She told him as he turned to dust, and turning, she entered the highschool, holding a stake in one hand, and the other waved emptily through the air as she whistled the tune of "if it makes you happy" by Sheryl Crow.

Buffy's head raised up suddenly. After having lost their seemingly only oppurtunity at escape, the couple had given up all hope as soon as the romance inclined cheerleader had been trapped in the book cage. Xander seemed to be losing control over ignoring the pleas that came from her as he read a rather large tomb of a book. The group had resumed research, but seemingly to no avail as neither Amy nor Tara were having much luck on the computer, and Buffy and Willow seemed to have plans other than reseach in mind, and Faith sat, carving stakes. Giles had been in his office for about an hour when he walked out, carrying a book in one hand, and biting the index finger of his free hand. "Might this be the reversal spell?" He asked tiredly as he walked over to Amy and Tara. Xander, Willow, and Faith all raised their heads, their interest having been peaked. Buffy however, was more focused on the door. She stood from her seat and began walking towards it, as though transfixed.

Amy and Tara both looked over the spell several times before confirming that the spell should be an adequate counter spell. "Oh, I even have the ingerdients for this at my house!" Amy said excitedly as she began going over the spell again.

"Good, I was getting tired of having to fight off the slutty cheerleader from hell. Do you have any idea how many diseases she's probably carrying? Yeesh!" Xander said, ending with a shudder that coincided exactly with the double doors of the library swinging open, and a tune meeting everyone's ears for the first time that night. (Except for Buffy's of course.)

Giles stared at the girl. "Isn't it a bit late to be studying so hard?" She asked as she twirled the stake and began doing some odd movements that resembled what the movements of a balet dancer would be if her toe was broken. Giles began to clean his glasses as he stared at the odd young lady before them all.

"May I assist you with anything?" He asked warily.

"No, But I may assist you. If I want to that is." She said as she finished with a rather unbalanced pirouette.

"How could you help them? What are you gonna do? Offer them some fashion advice worse than what they already have?" Cordelia spat towards the new girl she saw as competition in her quest to have Xander for her own. Courtney glared at Cordelia as she made her way to the table. "Hey! Stay away from Xander! He's mine!" Cordelia hollered at her.

"I haven't come for him. Please? You think I'd be interested in him? My only interest lies at the bottom of a ditch, probably rotting away!" She began to get hysterical. "Oh god, why couldn't I save her?" she said as she let out a heartwrenching sigh.

"Save who?" Faith asked, her interest having been peaked even more by the emotional roller coaster this girl seemed to be going through.

"Never mind! Let me introduce myself!" She cried out with a dramatic sweeping bow. "I am Courtney Leshire. Mate of Eliza Fox. The last slayer." She paused dramatically as if waiting for the group to accept what she had just revealed.

Willow squinted at her, while Buffy raised an eyebrow. Giles opened his mouth in the shape of an 'o' of recognition, and Xander and Faith started checking her out like she was the hottest thing like sliced bread, and Amy and Tara just shook their heads as they muttered over the spell, the Slayer and her Mate issue evidently not an issue with them. Cordelia simply glared harder.

A/N: Okay, so I realize now that it's pretty much gonna be impossible to put out a chapter a night, especially with school starting up soon. So I can most definently guarentee a chapter every two days, but for now that's all I can do. Let me know if you think I should keep updating this or not? Because, although I do have a plot line in mind it's a big big plot line. Oh and also, would anyone happen to know someone who could be my Beta person? Cause I think I might need one. Thanks - L.
