The Most Beautiful Girl in the World

[reviews]

Willow finally gave up. She had been trying to study her Biology for the last ten minutes as she waited for Buffy in the Sunnydale High School Commons. After reading the same line for the fifth time she closed the book and placed it on the brick ledge of the planter she was sitting on. She was a hopeless people watcher anyway so she decided to spend the time doing that. The Commons was bustling with students waiting for the lunch period to end. Normally everyone gravitated outside but a rare light rain was falling and everyone was stuffed into the Commons.

All the tables and chairs were filled and there were clusters of teens standing all over. The planter ledge Willow was sitting on was located in the far corner of the Commons so she had a fine spot to view from.

Willow noticed some of the boys were looking her way so she tugged the hem of her skirt down. The boys were indulging in their favorite past time and Willow didn't want to be part of their sophomoric game. She glanced across to the double doors Buffy would be coming through when she arrived. No sign of her yet. She then turned her attention back to those in the Commons.

And that's when she saw her.

The girl was on the other side of the Commons and was walking deliberately toward Willow. Her eyes were fastened on Willow's and Willow, as she watched, thought the girl was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. She was probably sixteen, tallish and her white blond her splashed over her shoulders and down her back. She was so stunning that she took the oxygen from Willow's lungs. Her eyes, which were the color of the sky on a clear day and they were, without wavering, on Willow. She was absolutely the most perfect looking girl. Even her skin was smooth and unblemished which was so rare for a teen-aged girl.

She moved through the crowded Commons with an athletic ease. Her long legs, though she was moving slowly, were quickly covering the distance that separated her from Willow. She acknowledged no one as she walked. She just thread her way through the throngs unnoticed. A ghost it seemed for no one turned to even look at her.

That was remarkable not only because of her enormous beauty but also because she was not wearing one stitch of clothing. She was completely naked.

Willow rose to her feet. It happened so fast. The girl was only a few paces away and Willow had a brief glimpse over the girl's shoulder of Buffy coming through the double doors.

Then everything went black.

Buffy had seen Willow fall. The redhead had simply folded up and sank, almost in slow motion, to the floor. By the time Buffy reached where Willow lay a group of students had surrounded Willow's inert form. Buffy pushed her way through the crowd and knelt at Willow's side. She pulled Willow into her arms laying her across her body so that her head rested on Buffy's shoulder.

"What's her problem?" That was Cordelia as tactful as ever. "Is she faking?"

"Hardly," Buffy said glaring at Cordelia. Then she looked back down at Willow who was completely unconscious. "Someone get the nurse."

"I'm on it," someone in the crowd said.

Buffy patted Willow gently on the cheek. Of course that only worked in the movies. Willow was out cold and at first Buffy thought she was going to be that way for a while. But in a moment the Wiccan started to stir.

When Willow was younger she often visited the pond down the road. She would lie on the bank and peer down into the water at her reflection. On a still day it was like looking in a mirror. Willow would drop a pebble and her face would disappear into the ripples. As the water calmed her face would waver back into view.

That what Buffy's face did as Willow opened her eyes. She was confused. Why was everyone around her? And why was she cradled in Buffy's arms? It took a few moments for Willow to realize she had been unconscious.

"Was it a right cross or a left hook?" Willow asked.

"What?" Buffy replied.

"That you knocked me out with."

Buffy shook her head. "You fainted Will. Are you okay." Buffy's voice was full of concern.

Willow put a hand to her head. "I.....I think so."

The school nurse arrived and knelt down beside Buffy. "How is she?"

"I don't know." Buffy answered,

With the help of Buffy and the nurse Willow climbed to her feet. "I'm fine. Really I am."

Willow then remembered everything. The girl. The naked girl who had been so intently walking toward Willow just before she had passed out. The Wiccan looked carefully around searching the crowd for the white blond haired girl. She was not among them. Willow turned to Buffy. "Where is she?"

"Who Willow?"

"The girl. The naked girl."

Buffy and the nurse exchanged perplexed glances. The nurse was the first to speak. "Let's take her to my office. She can lie down there."

Willow could see that she wasn't being believed. "You had to see her. She was standing right in front of me when I crashed."

Buffy put her arm around Willow's waist. "C'mon. Let's talk in the nurses office."
