Best friends and then some

Buffy sighed in frustration. There was only so much she could take, and watching Willow wallow in pain was definently something she had a short amount of patience for. She hadn't been around much, she'd been busy with Riley, and then school too.

Across the room Willow's bed shook as she cried silently, well, as silently as she could so that she wouldn't wake Buffy up. She had been crying for nearly two weeks now, and she knew that the slayer had to be tired of hearing it, but she couldn't help it, it was like the tears just kept flowing and flowing.

Buffy watched her best friend's back as she trembled with tears. Tears which the blonde could tell were meant to be silent, but sometimes Slayer hearing was more of a curse than a blessing. Especially when you didn't want to hear or smell things, or hell, for that matter even sense things. She shuddered as she thought about how she had first reacted when she smelt the smell of Oz, Willow, and sex mingled together on the redhead. She had nearly burst out in tears at the thought of her best friend, the love of her life, having sex with the wearwolf. She had cried herself to sleep for nearly the next month straight, and it had gotten even worse over the summer.

Then Oz had left Willow, and Buffy had wanted to both knock him unconscious he was so stupid, and cry for happiness. Now that Oz was gone, Buffy had been hoping to become close to Willow, maybe rekindle their friendship some? But it didn't seem like that was going to happen, having Oz gone was almost worse than having him there with her. She watched her best friend's back shake and tears ripped through her body. Willow had obviously given up on the idea of crying silently, as her soft sobs shook her body. Buffy had just about had all that she could take when Willow seemed to let up for a minute before quickly slipping into a restless sleep. It had been going on like this for nearly two weeks, and Buffy wasn't sure how much more she could handle, even with fake cheery Willow by her side.

Willow woke up in the morning feeling like she'd been run over by a semi. It was no use, no matter how hard she tried, she always felt like she kept the blonde up at night, even if Buffy never mentioned it. She rolled out of bed, and lightly slapped the blaring alarm clock and rubbing her sleep filled eyes as she grabbed her shower kit and headed out the door, never noticing that Buffy wasn't in her bed.

Buffy walked back into their shared room, with mocha's and jelly doughnuts in one hand and a set of keys in the other. She had set out before Willow had even woken up to go and get sugar for the redhead, knowing that she would need it based on the amount of sleep she seemed to have been getting the night before, but when she entered the room, she found it empty. Her bed was still made from where she had woken up, but Willows was in a state of disaray, with half the comforter on the ground and the other half hanging precariously on the side of the bed. She shrugged before setting down the cups and bags, and dropping her keys onto her desk. 'She must've gone to take a shower' Buffy thought, and went about her morning exercise routine.

Willow was asleep again, well, in bed crying really. Again it started with the silent tears, and she was at the point where she was almost audible to people with regular hearing, so Buffy had been listening to her for the last ten minutes. Finally she sat up in bed. 'That's it!' She thought as she stood up, walked the whole four feet separting the two beds, and lifted Willow's covers, letting herself in and spooning to the redhead. At first she tensed, but then the hacker quickly relaxed into Buffy's embrace, even turning around to face the blonde.

"Thanks, I really needed that." Willow said, indicating towards the hug they had just shared.

"Any time." Buffy said quietly, before watching the hacker drift off to her first peaceful sleep since Oz had left. "I love you." Buffy whispered into her ear before kissing her forehead goodnight, and settling down with the woman of her dreams in her arms.

Willow awoke in the morning, feeling safe and warm. She felt more rested than she had in months, and for a minute there couldn't remember why, then she spotted the hands holding her, recongnizing those hands anywhere. She smiled and snuggled down further into the blonde's arms.

"Mmmmm Willllow." Buffy moaned in her sleep, a large smile tugging at her lips.

"Buffy?" Willow asked, her voice sounding surprised, she hadn't turned to look at the blonde, but she was sure that she had a cheschire grin firmly planted on her face.

Buffy leaned close and kissed the redhead's shoulder gently, and Willow felt a low down tingle as she thought about what the Slayer might be dreaming. "Ohh, baby, I love you." Buffy said as she made her grasp on the redhead become much more posessive than it had been.

Willow turned then, facing the blonde. "I love you too." She said before she leaned in and kissed her best friend.

Buffy was aware that somewhere along the lines her dream had become real life, although she wasn't sure when. She pulled back from the kiss nearly a minute in.

"Oh my god. I'm so sorry." Buffy said, making as if to leave the redhead alone in her bed.

"No, don't be, I'm the one who took advantage. You were asleep." Willow said as she reached out and let her hand grab ahold of Buffy, pulling th blonde instantly back into bed. "I love you." Willow said as she looked into the green eyes she had come to adore so much over the years.

"And I you." Buffy replied with a giant smile on her face, before leaning in and placing a long luxurious kiss on the redhead's lips. When they pulled back it was only to see the smiling face of the other, and then resume their previous activities.

A/N: Should this just be a one shot deal? Or more chapters?- L.
