The Simple Black Dress

Once again it was well into the morning by the time Willow opened her eyes. She could feel the warmth of Buffy's body against her so she pressed closer enjoying the pleasantness of the moment.

A few minutes later Willow disengaged and sat up. The brightness of the morning filed the room. Willow swung her feet to the floor and went into the bathroom. When she came back she went over to the closet. There was the black dress on a hanger separate from the rest of the clothes which were pushed to one side or the other. It seemed to be displayed like a trophy. A trophy demanding attention.

Willow started to reach for it but stopped. "I hate you," she murmured for no reason she could think of. It was just.............? Cotton.

Willow turned and went back to the bed where Buffy laid. It was unlike her to sleep so late. Except when she had had a particularly difficult night on patrol. Willow sat on the edge of the bed and watched her blond love. Unlike Willow who had only her underpants on Buffy had on a pair of white high cuts but also a transparent pastel top. Willow could see the roll of Buffy's breasts beneath and she fought the urge to touch them. She didn't want to wake Buffy although the desire to make love was building inside the Wiccan. She turned and looked away hoping to quell the rising passion in her.

Willow's mind drifted to her own dreams of the night. First Buffy had had a nightmare now Willow.......no hers wasn't a nightmare though. What was it? How could it be described? Stressful. It was a stressful dream of being asked questions over and over, one after another until she had wanted to scream. But as she answered one question she would be asked another. And the questions were about herself. And about Buffy. What did Willow like? What did she and Buffy enjoy the most? What were their favorite colors, foods, movies? Did they hold hands? How often did they make love?

Willow smiled at that question. Not often enough, she thought again glancing at the sleeping blond.

The questions covered everything and anything to the point of being prying and Willow, realized she had forced herself to patiently answer each and every one of them as honestly as she could. So what was the big deal? Why would a dream such as that be unnerving?

Because she was baring the secrets of her life, and Buffy's, to someone who did not wish her well. Willow buried her face in her hands trying to remember, in her dream, who that person was. Trying to remember was not as horrible as the scene that kept popping into her consciousness of the car hurling at her. Where in the world did that come from? And what did it have to do with her?

Willow turned her attention back to the sleeping Buffy. "Honey? I'm so afraid and I don't know why. I'm scared I am losing you. Losing you forever and I can't bear that thought."

Of course Buffy didn't hear those words. She was fast asleep still. Willow reached over to touch one of Buffy's hands and the Slayer's fingers curled around Willow's making the red head smile. Buffy stirred and drew the hand she was holding against her cheek. Willow laid down facing Buffy and just watched her sleep. In a while Buffy started to come to. She opened her eyes and found Willow.

"Morning." Willow said.

"Hi." Buffy lifted her head and had to squint. "Oh my. I slept late. Again? I can't believe it. This is so unlike me, huh?" The truth was Buffy didn't feel like herself. Her mouth was cottony and her head spun when she tried to focus. But it a short time she felt better. At least well enough to kiss the hand she was holding.

"I like that," Willow said quietly. "I want to make love today. All day."

"All day?"

"All day." Willow's words were a firm statement.

Buffy pulled Willow to her. "Won't Morgan and ............Morgan get suspicious?" Buffy was about to add Daphne but she already had caught Buffy and Willow so she KNEW.

"I don't care" Willow said then quickly added. "If you don't I mean. She's your mother's friend and all so............."

Buffy stopped Willow in mid-sentence by kissing her strongly. In the process the two became a tangle on the bed as their arms and legs became entwined. In a moment Willow helped Buffy remove her top then she slid beneath the blond as she offered her body to be taken.

Then, of course, there was knock on the door. On the other side they heard Morgan. "Up and at 'em girls. I've breakfast on the table."

Both girls frowned but they both knew they had no other choice. "Be there in a jiff. We're getting dressed." Buffy called.

"Damn," said Willow.

"Shit," said Buffy.

Before letting Buffy rise Willow stole another long, meaningful kiss from Buffy. "Today, and there's no getting out of it Blondie, today were going to sneak off into the woods with a blanket and show the birds and bees how to do it. Got that?"

"Lezzie."

"Lezzie's girl," Willow retorted.

"That I am."

* * * * *

"How'd you all sleep last night?" Morgan asked as she scooped scrambled eggs onto the plates set before Willow and Buffy. "Lordy, it's almost ten. I thought you girls were dead."

Buffy ignored the question. She had absolutely no recollection of the night. The last she remembered was drinking the hot chocolate, then boom, she was out like the well known light. "Where's Daphne?"

Morgan placed the pan of eggs on the stove and joined the girls at the table. "Had to run home. She's going to stay over again tonight. Her folks are off again to San Francisco on one of their business trips. I can't believe they let Daphne alone so much. I think they're taking advantage of my hospitality." The last remark was spoken without any hint of disapproval in Morgan's voice. Buffy suspected, strongly, that Morgan wanted Daphne's company.

After breakfast Willow mentioned that she and Buffy wanted to go for a long walk. "Do you have a blanket we could take along. Buffy said there's a creek around here. We thought we'd spend the afternoon by it if Buffy can find it again."

When Willow asked about the blanket Buffy, with lowered eyes, kicked her under the table. Willow restrained the grin she felt forming on her lips.

Morgan procured a blanket for them and the girls returned to the bedroom to grab some books. Buffy had on a pair off white tennis shorts and a Jersey top. At Willow's insistence she took off the top and instead put on a green blouse that buttoned down the front and only covered about half her belly.

"Access," Willow explained. "I want easy access to my treasure chest. What would you like me to wear?"

As lovers often do, they dress to please the other. Buffy wasn't as particular as Willow when it came to clothing, her wardrobe was usually more on the casual side. but she did like Willow's taste, and did like Willow in skirts so she mentioned the red, white and green kilt Willow had worn earlier. And the V- neck, gauzy blouse that was hardly a barrier to romantic intentions. Many felt Willow looked like a vulnerable, innocent waif but Buffy had seen the steamy side of the red headed Wiccan and those large green eyes and disarming smile only disguised what Buffy knew. Willow was sexy. Flat out sexy. Even after Willow dressed and added her hiking boots she was scrumptious.

Still Buffy couldn't help observe, "Now who's a Daisy Mae?" This she said even as she pulled on her own boots over her sweat socks.

They kissed briefly before walking out onto the lawn. As they passed the barn Buffy eyed it warily, She desperately wanted to get inside but she didn't really know why she wanted to so badly. It was rickety and probably, as Morgan said, dangerous. Still danger had never deterred Buffy before. After all she had faced more than risks then this barn presented.

Willow had a different reaction. As she passed she saw the lock was back in place. Why did that matter? In her dream................

Willow clung momentarily to Buffy and didn't look back once they were clear of the structure.
