Something Pink

it's time

[reviews]

Well things were going fine until until two weeks ago. You see two weeks ago, Daniel Alexander Summers-Rosenberg was supposed to grace us with his presence, but since he is Mama's boy, he is being stubborn. Then, Mom didn't help matters any when she told Willow I was late too, so we haven't spent too much time together lately which is why I am on patrol with Faith and Giles. Faith is here to keep me entertained while Giles is here as my ride in case tonight is the night.

To make matters worse, the forces of darkness are seemingly taking the night off. We have been through Sunnydale Cemetary and Shady Hill and got bupkiss. I have half a mind to slug Faith just for some action, but that would get her angry. Plus, I would have to deal with the wrath of Tara. No thank you.

We had just entered Restfield when Giles' phone rang. He was smiling while he was listening to whomever talk, but had yet to say what it was about, so I swatted Faith's arm and motioned for us to keep walking. If it was time, Giles would let us know.

"Buffy, where are you going? Willow's water just broke," Giles asked as Faith and I turned around glaring.

"I may be blonde Giles, but one actually has to say the words. For all I knew, Mom got a stain out of your pants. Now, let's go," I said grabbing Faith's hand, but she stopped.

"This is yours, B. I'll do a quick sweep of the rest before joining you guys later," I nooded before taking off for Giles' car.

Even though it was an emergency, Giles obeyed the speed limit. I completely understood, but the voice in the back of my head was telling me that I was going to miss it if Giles didn't speed up, but thankfully, I was too nervous to listen. Once Giles had found a parking spot, I jumped out of the car and ran into the hospital. Mom told me the room number, and I took the stairs to make it there faster. I found Tara outside the room and let her know Faith would be here shortly. I also gave her a quick hug before opening Wil's door.

"Buffy," she said with despiration, "I'm scared. I don't think I can do this," I silenced her babble with a kiss.

"Yes, you can because I have faith in you. Just think about holding Daniel Alexander in your arms. Besides, you can try and crush my fingers when you have contractions," I said cracking a joke causing her to giggle until she gripped my hand tightly going through a contraction. I knew from my book reading that the closer the contractions are, the closer the birth is to happening.

We finally got put into one of the birthing rooms. Well, after I almost came to blows with some hospital personel for almost not allowing me to be with Willow, who has been a trooper since I arrived. Of course, my cheerleader bits were the hit of the room, and they kept Willow happy. On her last check, the doctor told Wil that her next contraction was when she wanted her to start pushing, and to help, I leant her some of my strength.

And about a dozen pushes later, the room was filled with Daniel's cries. I was allowed to cut the cord and watched as the nurses cleaned him before handing Daniel to Willow. She was introducing herself before showing him me and telling him that I was his Mama, and then went on to tell him about the rest of the family.

"Buffy, would you like to hold your son?" Willow asked as all I could was nod before taking him in my arms. I started by explaining to him that I was the crazy person that had been talking to him for the last nine months. I had just finished the last of it when the door opened, and the family poured in.

"I'd like to introduce you all to Daniel Alexander Summers-Rosenberg," they hadn't been told them the name that Willow and I chose, "Would you like to hold him, grandma?" I asked as Mom and Giles came over. After giving him to Mom, I went and laid beside Willow while Daniel physically met the family.

After about a half hour, the head nurse kicked everyone but me out. She wheeled in a rollaway bed for me, so I could stay with Wil. I moved it as close as possible, so we could hold hands while we slept. Daniel spent the next couple hours with us before being taken to the nursery.

Wil and I were were just holding hands looking at one another. I think we both knew that nothing needed to be said, and that yes, Daniel changes things. Like, Willow is now just research girl while I continue to battle the forces of the Hellmouth.

"So when do I get to impregnate you?" Willow giggled before falling asleep while I thought to myself, hopefully someday.

~Fear not gentle readers, this is the end of Willow's story, but not the story. Stay tuned for a Mini-Series epilogue, post-Chosen.~
