Chapter 14

[reviews]

This chapter jumps a bit, but I hope its easy enough to follow. Enjoy!

The slayers were ready to advance on the base. Several were chosen to stay behind with Joyce, Dawn, Anya and Dylan. It had been a challenge to get them to stay behind, but Buffy told them it was needed in order to make sure Dylan stayed safe. She had to keep the girl safe, though every bit of her wished she could have done the same for the girl's mother.

Faith, Tara, Xander, and Buffy were spread out around the mine, each leading their own group on the attack. Buffy signaled towards Tara, it was time for their magic wall to collapse and Tara could do that. The coven was on alert and able to feel when the magical force ended, then they would send Willow everything they could.

Quickly entering a trance she pulled the energy around her and focused on her task. Quickly the wall feel before them and the slayers advanced. While the coven members sent their power to the redhead.

Again Willow found herself in the chair, restraints tight around her. Travelers had just finished another pull from her. Placing his prize in the box he turned back to her. She was weak and could see the wounds that covered her body. Proud that he had taken her and tortured her for hours upon hours. Giles would get his reward for helping with such a victim.

Willow had thought long and hard about what she would do. There were risks, but not to the ones she cared about. If she could do this, then she could stop the Council where they stood.

The sudden shift in magic around her forced her mind to do it before she could think. The magic wall she could feel was weakening. Closing her eyes she reached out to the wire within her. A rush hit her. Then another, one that she wasn't expecting. Pulling its power into herself she opened her eyes and looked back at Travelers, the air around her dark with magical radiating from her.

The fear in Travelers eyes was something she liked more than she would admit. Seeing him prepare to fire magic at her she magically threw him against the wall. Surprised that he not just hit the wall, but went threw it to a certain degree. The mine being underground there was nothing but concrete and dirt. Shaking off her surprise she made sure to push extra light on her attackers. Killing them was not something she had planned on doing, but killing him was not going to make her feel bad at all.

Quickly snapping her restraints off, she stood looking around. The room was collapsing from the impact of Travelers going through the concrete wall. Picking up the wooden box she left the room and the men who stood motionless. The door forced closed by the weight of itself. Shutting the men and containing the collapse.

Roughly 50 miles away from the mine a group sat inside another mansion. Dylan was still crying. First her mother had left her, then the blond woman who had been caring for her. The three women had tried comforting her, but to no avail.

Pacing or sitting in the room all the women were stressed with what was happening. At least a dozen slayers were surrounding them. Dylan simply lay on the couch, crying. No one touched her, if they did she would cry and hit at anyone who came near.

Suddenly her crying stopped and she sat up. "Mommy," it was a whisper but everyone heard it and looked at her. Closing her eyes she felt something deep inside her and focused on it and her mother. Everyone watched as the girl disappeared.

The slayers were quick in entering the base. Disabling every one they came across. A force then shook the cave they were in, nearly making everyone fall from the impact. "Where'd that come from," quickly Buffy called to one of the girls who were hacking into the system.

"5th floor, one of the end rooms," tapping on the keyboard she kept her search the base.

Running as fast as she could she went down, that was her best guess where Willow was. Going deeper with Faith on her heels, both girls were hitting every piece of scum on their way down.

~~~
"Oops," Willow hadn't meant do that. She was supped up on magic. Taking a deep breathe she tried to control it better. It was almost too much for her body to handle. Listening for the first time she heard an alarm going off. "Great," rolling her eyes she figured that men were on their way to stop her.
Just as she was about to move someone appeared before her. Falling to her knees Willow dropped the box before opening her arms. The warm body ran into them, holding onto her with all the strength they possessed. Warm tears feel from both sets of eyes.
Rocking herself back and forth she couldn't believe this was happening. "Dylan, baby, you are such a good girl. Mommy missed you SO much." Kissing her daughters face all over as she spoke.
Dylan was relieved to see her mother after such a long time. She couldn't stop crying as her mother held her close.
Willow sat there holding Dylan, not a care in the world. Forgetting all about where they were or what was happening. As she heard footsteps approaching she stood up with Dylan still in her arms, preparing to hurt anyone coming near her or her daughter, anger quickly filling her with those thoughts.
As she was to shoot magic at the oncoming persons she stopped, they didn't. Running up Buffy quickly wrapped her arms around both girls. Completely clueless as to how Dylan had gotten there, since she was left with the others. Faith quickly came up behind and waited.
Buffy let Willow go, all too soon for her liking. Willow bent over to pick up the box, but before she could Faith had it in her arms. She could see how important it was so the brunette nodded her head, understanding. Quickly the four moved back up.
When they came to the front of the main entrance they saw all the slayers still alive and working. Some were pushing the men into different rooms and locking them in. Xander came up and wrapped his arms around Willow and Dylan. Tara later came over and did the same. No one said a word about Dylan being there, all knowing they had left the tiny redhead behind.
A group of slayers were holding a man against the wall. He simply stood there not listening to a thing they were saying. Keeping his eyes on her the whole time. Handing Dylan to Buffy, Willow walked over to him.
The slayers stepped back as Willow advanced towards him. He went for a hit, but she quickly stopped it and wrapped her hand around his throat. Pushing him back against the wall she looked dead into his eyes.
"If I see you, hear about you, or even THINK you are going to come after my daughter again I will send you straight to hell." Her voice was calm and cold the whole way. After a small pause she spoke again. "Ripper."
The man gave a surprised smirk. He would have laughed at them if he could breathe. Instead his eyes and his smile was more than enough to piss her off. Slamming his head against the wall she knocked him out. Quickly looking through him she found what she was looking for and 'disconnected' a piece of who Ripper was.
Dropping the unconscious body she looks back to Dylan. Buffy had made sure to cover the girl's eyes and distract her by whispering in her ear. Neither wanted Dylan to know or see what had happened.
Walking back over to the two she picked Dylan up and walked out of the mine. Her body had been aching from the physical blows she received as well as the magic being forced from her.
Everyone quickly followed behind her, leaving all the men where they were. As soon as all the slayers were out of the building Willow closed the entrance, trapping all the Council members inside. Buffy walked close to Willow, she didn't know if the girl wanted to be touched or not. In reality she was a little terrified of Willow and the magic that seemed to be circling her.
The redhead reached out and took hold of the slayers hand. Lacing their fingers together they walked back to the buses. The walk was made in relative silence. Piling into the buses, Willow relaxed in Buffy's arms.
Buffy pulled out a cell phone, but before she could call Willow took it from her. Hitting send twice she got Angel's voice. "Buffy? Is everything ok?" The man was terrified as to what happened. It had been hours since he had contact with them.
"Hey Angel," her voice was smooth yet exhausted. "The Council members are trapped in the mine, I believe you know what to do with them." The two smiled before saying their goodbyes. Hanging up the phone she leaned further into Buffy and passed out, the magical energy returning to where it had come from. The girl in her mothers' arms started to glow a slight red color before falling into a deeper sleep.
~~~

Things were getting back to normal, well as normal could be for them. The gang was currently having a BBQ at the Summers residence. The sudden ring of Buffy's phone stopped everyone from what they were doing.

Slowly reaching into her pocket she pulled out her cell and flipped it open on speaker phone. "Hello?"

"Buffy, you guys might want to turn on the TV." Nodding to the gang she entered the house, everyone filed in close behind. Picking up the remote she hit the power button, clicking a few buttons she found a news station.

"There is a new problem sweeping the world. Men from all over seemed to have formed an underground community where they believe in the existence of vampires, demons and other creatures. Not only do they believe they fight 'evil' but they take young girls. Kidnapping them from families to 'fight' these said 'creatures'. There is currently an investigation in this group who have named themselves the 'Council' to see how far this goes back and charging anyone who participated in such acts. So far no girls have been found in any case we have found."

Angel was still on the phone waiting for Buffy to say something. This was a perfect way to deal with the Council. The government would cover up any evidence of demons and slayers, no way would they let information of the Initiative out. There was another surprise for the girls.

"Uh," no one was able to say anything, let alone comprehend what just happened. "Angel?"

"Yes Buffy," he was smiling. He could almost see all of their expressions.

"How..." still at a loss for words she stared at the TV as the news anchor gave further details.

"Well, it was easy really. I called the police and informed them that there were men in that mine. I sent them files on the Council with enough information to jail everyone who had contact with them. Called a couple news stations as well and told them about grown men taking girls away. There's something else Buff."

"Something else? What else could there be?" She was shocked that in less than a week Angel had completely taken out the whole Council.

"I have taken the liberty of depriving the Council of their assets. They now have nothing and you and Faith being the oldest slayers now have it all." Buffy nearly fell over. Faith having heard it shouted a 'holy crap' or two. "I think it's time to start up an All Girls School, someone is going to need to train all these slayers." He knew it was up to them to get this going.

Buffy was still to out of it to do anything. Willow walked over and took the phone with one hand. "Thanks Angel, I think you've completely broken my girlfriend, so she'll have to call you back." With that she closed the phone while everyone stood around. Letting the information soak in.

Xander was the next person to speak up. "Oh no, the dogs!" Running back outside he checked on the grill. Laughing behind him the girls quickly followed. Buffy still stood there a bit frozen. Everyone having left she stood there for a moment.

Hitting the power button she turned the TV off, "Several men have esca..." Walking out into the yard she sat next to Willow and Dylan. Putting her arms around her girls' shoulders she kissed Willow on the cheek.

The picnic was starting to wind down with everyone playing and talking again. The surprise of the news wearing off, all knowing that things would need to happen soon but for now enjoying the moment. Dylan stood there for a moment, looking across the street.

~~~
A figure stood there watching them. Watching her. "I will get you my dear. No one will stop me from taking what's mine." His voice was dark and powerful as he spoke. Not wanting his presence known of yet he turned around. Walking away only to return.
