chapter 8

[reviews]

"Not you guys," Laura added quickly. "The jerk I'm talking about is Bill Larson. I'm through with THAT loser."

Willow and Buffy already knew that the Chandler sisters, who weren't allowed to date, were meeting their boyfriends for make out sessions at the drive in. Buffy and Willow were just cover so their parents wouldn't suspect what they were up to.

Laura soon followed a bit annoyed with her sisters for cutting her evening short. "Anyone really watching this movie?"

Ten minutes later Buffy and Willow were standing in the Chandler's drive. With a quick, unacknowledged wave, Buffy and Willow walked off together.

The sky was clear with a bright moon and sparkling stars. A night made for romance. Out of sight of the Chandler house Willow grabbed Buffy's hand in hers. Buffy didn't resist and held on lovingly to the offered hand.

"Any misgivings?" Willow asked cautiously.

"No. No. Absolutely none. Tonight has been perfect. Almost."

"Yeah." Willow stopped and faced Buffy. "Buffy, I know it's too late to ask about tonight but...but would you like to sleep over tomorrow night?"

Buffy didn't have to think about that very long. Yes she wanted to. And yes, she understood what sleeping over would lead to. She had never gone as far with anyone as she had with Willow earlier. Though she was still a bit taken back by the feelings that had burst from her seemingly out of nowhere, Buffy felt there was an incompleteness to the night. As far as those feelings, well, she didn't want to make them public. Willow would know but only Willow.

Now here she was about to, perhaps, sleep with another girl, Willow. And it was clear to Buffy, even if she was still confused about how strongly she felt about Willow, she had no regrets about what happened. At the same time where they were headed, as far as they would go, that wasn't a forgone conclusion. Would they go all the way? That remained to be seen.

Good lord, Buffy thought, you just felt Willow up. And liked it. And wanted her to feel you up too. More than that even. Much more.

Reflecting, Buffy told herself she was too young for this. Her mother, Joyce, would have told her that immediately. Buffy also knew she wasn't sure she knew how to make love to another girl. Or that she would let that girl make love to her but there was no misreading of her feelings for Willow. She wanted to give everything she had to the red head standing beside her.

The question was did she have the courage to?

"I love you Buffy." It was Willow who said it first. She said the words with total conviction. "I want you to know that. And to know that this isn't some kind of........exploration. Some kind of an experiment. I've.........," then she paused with a shy giggle. ".........had the hots for you for weeks. I dream of you and of us being like this. Holding hands. Being with each other and ........"

"Did you know you were a ...........?" Buffy asked haltingly.

"Lesbian?" Willow knew what she was referring to. "Yep. If I didn't know before I met you, I knew the moment I did."

At the moment Buffy didn't want to actually admit, even to herself, that she too was a lesbian. She wasn't sure she was. In Willow's case she certainly was but maybe only when it came to Willow.

Buffy took the safe route and changed the subject.

"All I'll need is a nightgown and fresh underwear for the morning." She wasn't sure if that was a statement or a question.

"Not even that," Willow answered. "I've night gowns. And you can wear my panties in the morning. In fact I kind of like that idea. You in my panty drawer."

"How crude," Buffy said laughing.

"I can be a tramp as you're about to find out." Willow pulled Buffy off the sidewalk and behind a large spruce tree. There she kissed Buffy hungrily her hands moving down to grab Buffy's butt. When they parted from the embrace both were breathing heavily.

"You promise to show me just how trampy you can be."

"I will. " Willow said. "And by the way, all my life my parents insisted I keep my bedroom door locked. In case someone broke into the house my door would be an added barrier for them to solve. We'll have all the privacy we need to do whatever."

[Monday]

Willow was gliding through the morning encased in happiness. Saturday night had been so totally wonderful and now she felt she was completely in love. And she believed Buffy was in love with her.

She took the 'Buffy route' to art and Buffy was there waiting by her locker. They had spent all Saturday night and most of Sunday together and talked and planned. Next semester they would take some classes together and definitely their lunch period. It wasn't as if they were making a lifetime commitment but to each of them it was meaning they had a special relationship.

"Hi Buffy."

"Hi Willow."

Buffy was just as warmly happy about the weekend as was Willow. "Hey, I got a suggestion if you'd like to hear it."

Willow nodded. "What is it?"

"Why don't we meet up after school. I took the after noon off of work and I really would like to spend it with you. Just hanging out. Talking. Just," Buffy held her hands out to her sides, "being together."

Willow closed her eyes blissfully. How could life ever get any better? "You mean like a date?"

"Yeah," Buffy acknowledged. "Like a date."
