Chapter 8...

The witch and the slayer sat on the bed facing each other.

"So..." Willow began nervously, "w-what did you want to know?"

Buffy thought before she spoke. She didn't know how to approach the question asking. She decided that the "ripping off the band aid" method was the best.

"How long has she been... erm... hurting you?"

Willow was a little taken a back, not by the fact that Buffy asked the question, but by the fact that she couldn't remember a time when Kennedy wasn't abusive towards her, "Since... since we moved in together I guess..."

Buffy paled, then continued asking questions, "Why didn't you stop her?"

"I-I wasn't strong enough, I defended myself as best I could, but..."

"No, I mean why didn't you stop her with magic?"

"I was scared. My emotions were so out of balance, I was... I was angry and, and if I tried a spell I could've hurt her." Buffy put a hand on Willow's knee and squeezed gently when she noticed Willow was tearing up.

"You should've called me, I'd have kicked her ass"

Willow smiled half-heartedly, "I-I-I tried to call you, keep in touch with you, but she stopped me, kinda isolated me." Willow barely whispered the last bit.

"Why didn't you leave her?"

"I..." Willow thought about it. She looked down and thought about whether to answer Buffy truthfully or not. She looked back up into the blonde's eyes. She needed to tell her the truth, "I didn't want to be alone," Willow looked down once again, "and if I left her, there isn't a great chance that I'd find someone else. I'm not good enough for anyone else to love. I'm pathetic." She said the last part almost robot-like. Kennedy had drilled it into her after all.

Buffy cupped Willow's cheek and lifted her face back up, "Is that what she told you?" Willow didn't answer, she just leaned into Buffys touch, "Will?"

Willow burst into tears. Buffy held her and whispered in her ear, "Shhh, it's gonna be OK, I'm here," before laying her down on the the bed, one arm underneath the witch and a hand stroking her face, gently.

To Buffy's suprise, Willow pushed herself out of the embrace, "God, she was right, I am pathetic," at this point she was hysterical, "all I've done today is sleep and cry and complain about how shit my life is."

"Will..." Buffy tried to comfort her.

"DON'T, BUFFY," Willow stopped, and her face fell as she realised her tone came out harsher than intended, "Buff, I'm sorry, I..." the witch stopped, sighed and shook her head, "I think I just need some alone time."

Buffy tried to hide her disappointment, but she couldn't, her voice was broke slightly, "O-OK, Wills, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to crowd you, I just thought..."

"No, Buff, don't apologise," Willow cut her off, "you've been great, you've helped me alot through today, more than you know. I just need some time to think things through." She finished with a weak but genuine smile.

Buffy smiled back, and gave Will a quick hug before leaving, "You know where I am if you need me."

Willow nodded, "Thanks, Buff."

With that, Buffy left and Willow sat back on her bed and tried to think, but she didn't know where to start.

Buffy was sitting in the kitchen. She couldn't take her mind off Willow. The things that poor girl must have been through.

Dawn walked in cautiously, "Buff?"

Buffy turned around to see her little sister. She had tear-stained cheeks, "Dawnie, what happened, are you OK?"

"Yeah, I just... Faith told us about Willow," Buffy sighed deeply, maybe they should have waited before telling everyone, "I hope that bitch rots in prison."

"Dawn," Buffy said sternly, and then added, "say cow not bitch."
