Tonite's Buffy- My Two Cents :)

Greetings Everyone.

First, That was a cute one-parter Kimber. We all love Buffy/Willow mushies. OK here are my two cents.

ON THE INITIATIVE: I have to say that I am glad that they exist. It is nice to know that Joss is finally acknowledging the fact someone besides the slayer her friends, and a rag-tag group of brits know about the existence of vampires and demons and such. Am I the only one who thinks that a "PCP Gang" is a lame cover, heck PCP isn't even a main stream drug anymore (or so I've been told VBG.) As for if they are good or evil, that is another kettle of fish entirely. I suppose that it is possible that Walsh acted alone, but IMHO, not very likely. The kind of experiments that she was performing, took a lot of research, and research isn't cheep, someone would have had to finance it, and I don't think it was the University. I think that the initiative is probably more like The Section (La Femme Nikita), except voluntary, and without the body count. The ideals are sound, but the means are questionable.

On Riley: My first reaction was annoyance, that once again Buffy's love life is worse than tragic (What Spike said was dead on.) However, at further introspection... what else CAN happen. Buffy is the slayer, Meeting a nice Guy/Girl, settling down, having a family, and growing old, isn't exactly in the cards for her. So, as far as guys go.... Riley's not so bad.

When we were watching, my Hubby complained that Riley just went along with what ever the Iniative told him to do, took pills without asking what they were, all without questioning it. My answer was simple...HE is a soldier, that was what he was trained to do. I can say this with at least some authority. I was In the Navy for five years. The military is Weird to say the least, and being a women....Weird squared. But the old axiom "Ours is not to question why, ours is but to do or die." Is fairly accurate, that's what they try to train us to do in boot camp. Granted most of the Military is fairly wimpy by Iniative standards, but what about the Seals, or Marines, or Special Forces. It could happen.

He obviously has some sort of past, but I don't think that he is a bad guy. As for the "Willow incident." Yes that was bad, I don't condone violence against women, but this is Buffy the Vampire Slayer everyone. The slayer, or slayeretts get the crap beat out of them on a weekly basis. Besides, what is worse, getting knocked down in a withdrawal induced haze, or a cute little boy being skewered and mutilated??????

ON Tara...De-Nile is not just a river in Egypt. I would love to believe that Tara is not evil, but let's look at the track record folks. How many new characters have been introduced into Buffy that HAVEN'T been evil. Heck, even the other slayer (obviously a good guy, right?) became evil. Best care scenario is that Tara is half demon like Doyle.

Let me repeat that I think this SUCKS. I like Tara and Willow. As my hubby pointed out, they are bringing the best out of each other. Did you notice that Tara wasn't quiet as shy and she was less frumpy, and Willow seemed stronger, and actually kinda happy. I think that those two are cute and it makes me grrrrr. BUT I think that she is gonna be bad :(

On a side note, I think that Kimber hit it in her fic, I don't like the pattern that every time Buffy gets a new playmate (Angel, Faith, Riley) that the Scooby gang suffers, especially Will. Not to mention the fact that I don't think that they were quiet supportive enough of the whole Oz leaving thing. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Buffy and I think that it is the best show out there, these are just observations. :)

I think I'm done now. He he, feel free to tear me apart now.

Heather (creeps silently back to lurker mode)

What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire?

Frostbite.
