Buffy & Willow are out on patrol. After having staked a vampire sneaking up behind Willow,
they take a moment for smoochies.

When Buffy's face morphs to do more than kiss, an unseen watcher nods to herself. "He was
right." she muses. "She saves them alright. For herself."

Buffy turns her head and sees a young woman sneaking up on them.

"Leave the girl alone, bloodsucker." commands the teen. She kicks the unprepared vampire
in the head, knocking her off Willow.

"Who are you?" demands the Slayer Vampire, standing up.

"I am Mary Brown, the Vampire Slayer!" the young woman proclaims. "My Watcher told me all
about how you operate, Summers. First you save them, then you bite them."

She pulls out a stake and is about to plunge it in Buffy's heart when Willow gets in the
way. The young woman draws back in horror as Willow takes it through the heart.

Buffy screams in anguish and attacks the girl. "You killed Willow!" she shrieks. "You
BITCH! You are going to pay for that."

The two fight and Buffy gets the upper hand. She has her opponent up against a wall when
Willow's eyes pop open and she gasps.

"Willow?" gasps Buffy, dropping her opponent and turning to her partner.

"I'm okay." the redhead says reassuringly. "I guess immortality really works."

While they are distracted, Mary runs off to find her Watcher.

"It was awful." she moans. "I saw her stake a vampire who was attacking a young woman. She
held her then changed and started to bite her. I attacked her and was winning when the
woman interfered. She got in the way, and took the stake in her heart."

"Was she a redhead?" he inquired. "Named Willow?"

"Yes. How did you know?"

"I know much about Miss Summers." he smirked. "What happened then?"

"She went crazy." shuddered Mary. "She attacked and was about to kill me. Then the redhead
woke up."

"Woke up?" demands the startled man. "I thought you said-"

"I did!" she says. "Right through the heart."

"So little Willow is Immortal." he muses to himself. "How very interesting."

"You did right coming to me. Now this is what we will do."

As he explains his plan to Mary, Ethan Rayne laughs to himself about what he is going to
do.

"Giles, She claimed to be a Slayer." Willow is telling the watcher. "She fought like one."

"Yeah, she almost staked me." frowns Buffy. "But she got Willow instead. She killed her!"
She is crying.

"Buffy, relax." Willow reassures her shaking partner. "I got better. Immortality is real."

"You told me no slayer had been called." yells Buffy. "Who is she?"

"I don't know." he replies, wiping his glasses. "But I suspect she might have been called
when Faith was ,ah, injured."

"You can say it, Giles." Buffy tells him. "After I stabbed her. She will be upset when she
finds out a new slayer was called."

"A rogue slayer would upset anyone." he responds.

"I don't think she is, quite." says Willow. "She was staking a Vampire. She looked
horrified when I got in the way. And couldn't stop the stake."

"Ya know she didn't fight all that hard." comments Buffy, thoughtfully. "When Willow got
better, she ran off."

"Let me see if Quentin is still in town." says Giles. "If a new slayer was called he would
know."

Twenty minutes later he put down the phone. "Mary Brown was called the night Faith was
hurt. She disappeared before a watcher could contact her."

"She has a watcher." muses Willow. "Or so she says."

Buffy & Willow are on patrol later, when they hear a scream.

"Kinda obvious, isn't it?" Buffy snorts.

"We should check it anyway." responds Willow. "It could be real trouble."

They came to a clear space with a large flat marker. Tied to it was Mary. Standing over
her brandishing a knife was Ethan Rayne.

He waves the knife at them saying "Deq-vasi vjin!" A glowing circle appeared around them
and Mary.

"Why am I in here with them?" demands Mary, sitting up the rope just hanging.

"I hear that Willow is immortal." he grins ignoring his slayer. "I do hope you won't mind
me using it instead."

"If you hurt her-" starts Buffy.

"It will just make her mortal." he tells her. "Of course you will have trouble feeding.
Maybe you can feed on me."

"Vsepgis onnusvemova vu ni." he cries.

Buffy screams as she feels horrible pain in her entire body.

"It worked!" yells Ethan. "It actually worked. After winding up on the losing side every
time, I finally beat you."

"What about me?" demands Mary.

"I am sorry." he smirks. "But I don't need you anymore."

"The sun will be up soon, Buffy." Rayne gloats. "The sun will kill you, and there is not a
thing you can do about it."

As she holds Buffy for the last time Willow makes a discovery. "Buffy!" she whispers
excitedly into her wife's ear. "Your heart is beating."

Buffy starts and checks her wrist. "Ethan, I think your spell went a little off."

"Nonsense!" he smirks. "I feel better than I have felt in years. All those little aches
and pains one gets just from living have faded away. I am Immortal and loving it."

As the sun rises Buffy looks at Willow. "You are so beautiful in the sun, my Love."

Their kiss is interrupted by Rayne's scream. They look as he starts to give off smoke.

"What did you do to me!" he demands.

"There are different kinds of immortality." grins the Vampire Slayer. "And you got the
wrong one."

The two ,Slayer and Hacker, watch as Ethan burst into flame. There is soon nothing left of
the rogue wizard.

"Mary, maybe you should come with us." suggests Buffy.

"Not right now." says Mary. "He lied to me."

"Ethan was good at that." agrees Willow. "I guess you know where to reach us. Lets talk in
a few days."

As they walk to Giles' to tell him the news, they suddenly frown.

"Do you feel that?" Willow asks.

"Yes, what is it?"

A man steps out from behind a tree. He has long dark hair and carries a Katana.

"I am Duncan Macleod of the Clan Macleod." he proclaims. "There can be only one."
