Chapter 21

[reviews]

Warning: derogatory homosexual terms are used, I apologize before hand.

Back in the dank smelling apartment, Alex Robert's stared down at her prisoner in stunned, disbelieving horror. Skyton was, calmly, describing murders even she didn't know about and her fractured heart began to bleed silent tears for the unknown victims of these atrocious acts.

Merciful God, she thought, how many destroyed familles has Tom Skyton left in his wake?!?

There was, of course, no answer to that question. Her already immense hatred for the serial killer began to mushroom ever larger as she continued listening to him describe his exploits in an, almost, monotone voice. He spoke of killing like it was a perfectly ordinary thing which caused Alex to frown down at the brown haired man.

Skyton finished up with the lonely, old, homeless man he'd encountered on the outskirts of Sunnydale, it was his last killing. Since that time, he'd spent all his time and effort trying to achieve his goal of immortality without any success. Ever night, he made an effort to run into the creatures of the night but no one would give him what he wanted. He'd even hunted down a stray werewolf, or two, only to be disappointed in the end. Not even his well planned torture techniques had been able to loosen anyone lips though, it had been great fun for him. They all spoke about some all powerful Slayer, which was total rubbish to Tom Skyton. If there was some all knowing being out on the streets, he surely would have come upon them before now.

I've walked the dark path my entire life, he mockingly thought to himself, and there has been no agent of Good to stop me!

The man speculative gaze swept up the length of his captor's body and brightened considerably.

Alex had positioned herself just left of center to the door. The inscrutable look that was flashed up at her, set the Southerner on edge.

"I know who you are."

Skyton clearly insisted, astounded that such an ordinary person would be the one to hunt him down.

"That's not possible," said Alex, "we haven't set eyes upon eachother until today."

The woman held back her smirk because she fully suspected her studies of Bundy, Kraft, Gacy and Dennis Nilsen was just about to pay off! She'd learned that most serial killers liked to take momentos from crime scene's and that, after walking into Scott's apartment, Tom Skyton would not stray from his ilk. This was why Alex had been less than forthcoming with the AR police. It wasn't as if she'd deliberately lied, no, she'd simply never mentioned that there had been one thing missing from her baby's place of residence because she fully intended to get it back herself.

"I know you. Recognized the accent, Arkansas right?"

The bleeding fool was smiling by now. Alexandra Robert's stiffened because she figured he was about to tell her all the details of slaughtering Scott Roger Maddox. The woman struggled to remain perfectly still, thinking that hearing That would be the last thing to break her tenuous hold on her own darker emotions.

"I was in the Natural State a full week before my need to kill got the better of me. Walked around downtown, aimlessly, when I happened to find myself in one of the clubs. I didn't realize it was a Gay club until I saw two women making out in one of the corner's. Thought about cutting out when I spied a man flirting from table to table, with no care in the world. In that instance, I knew he was the victim for which I was searching. Played it cool, figuring, he'd make his way over to my table at some point during the evening. He came over at 9:15, much like a dog following a scent to it's bone. We struck up a conversation and I pretended to be interested in that fucking fairy. Wasn't too long before he invited me back to his place. The moment we walked into the apartment, it grated on me. It was tastefully decorated with everything perfectly in place, I hated it. We where standing in the livingroom when he asked if I'd like a drink. Said yes and came up behind him when he'd just opened the refrigerator. It was easy to knock him unconcious, I then dragged the stupid homo into the bedroom where I could comfortable. Went back to the kitchen for some knives because I intended this killing to be a bloody mess."

After staring into the woman's pale face, Skyton wisely skipped over the actual killings details.

"Once I slit that faggot like a Christmas turkey, I decided to ransack the apartment. Had fun taking orderly and turning it into cahos. Was about to leave when my toe hit a picture on the floor. It was laying right side down, I kicked it over and discovered it was a photo of my victim and some unknown woman. I recognized the club as the background, you where sitting in the man's lap wearing some kinda cardboard tiara, your hair was longer then but, it was you, wasn't it?"

The vein in Alex's jaw pulsed rapidly because that photo was her only representation of her 27th birthday. It had been a fun night and fun, up until then, had been sadly lacking in the Southerner's world. Scott had been the one person who could make her want to experience the joys of truly living and she would adore him past her dying day for That fact alone. She knew that Scott Maddox had been the reason she was a much warmer person, she would be a wholly different Alex had they never met. The pain of loosing him welled up within her but Alexandra Robert's fought back against it's hold.

"He had a name, you sick piece of shit! He was Scott Roger Maddox and there is no finer man to ever walk along the face of this earth. Scott was loved by everyone he came across and he, genuinely, cared about people. My baby was a beautiful, warm, loving, tender man and you turned him into nothing but a butchered corpse. Do you have any idea what it did to me to find him like that?!? "

The dark woman glanced at her wristwatch and saw that it was now 8:35 am. She recognized that she had to bring things to a close because it was doubtful that Buffy and Willow would heed her nine a clock call.

"Scott is the last man I'm ever going to love. The truth of the matter, Skyton, is that I willingly became a tool of your disposal. After walking into that apartment, I knew my own darkness would eventually consume me and I did nothing to stop it's course. You deserve to die and I am joyful that I will be the one to erase you from this world. Unlike you, I won't just discard you like the trash that you are because your family deserves to have their last good-bye with you. Say your prays, Thomas James Skyton, because your life ends now."

Done with words, Alex gave herself over to her darker emotions. He was achingly aware of the moment the light in her eyes died. Those orbs held nothing within them, they where as empty as the glass on his kitchen table. He Knew everything was over when those eyes looked him over, much like a shark zeroing in on it's kill. The wildly grinning, dark clad figure raised the gun and pointed it straight at Tom Skyton's forehead.
