Corie saw the two young women standing in the graveyard, deep in conversation, and thought them easy targets. They were young healthy and beautiful. The Mistress would reward her well. She waved away a lower minion and advanced stealthily. ____________________________________________________________

Buffy studied the detail on the rings. The silver was warm and flexible almost as if it were made of cloth. "So what's this metal called? I know it's silver, but it's all soft"

"It's the gods quicksilver. Tear of the Sky" Hakida tooks Buffy's hand and turned it palm up "It doesn't come off. Not even in death. There's also an engraving" Buffy read the tiny inscription

"And the moon shall call to all lovers, the wind shall carry the tender whispers, the shadows true rapture..." she glanced up at Hakida "Pretty. There's a vamp coming up behind me"

"I see her and it's my turn" Kida smiled as if Buffy had asked about something mediocre "Wanna get coffee after this?"

"Yeah" Buffy relaxed her shoulders.

Corie attacked when the closest girl- the blonde- relaxed her stance. She didn't expect the darker one to pivot- her arm around the blondes waist turning them both- or the small silver stake that appeared in her hand.

"How did you?" she choked out. She sensed the power they both possesed "You are chosen" She stated before turning to dust.

"Oh she was a smart one" Buffy deadpanned, stepping away from Kida to admire her handywork.

"Yeah smart enough to be vacuum bait" Kida rolled her eyes.

"The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind" Buffy laughed "Mocha?" She dusted off her jacket.

"Sure" Hakida turned offering an elbow.

Buffy accepted and they left arn and arm.

The lower minion Corie has commanded back stood staring in fascination.

"Chosen?" she muttered backing slowly fron her hiding place.

The Mistress would be please indeed.

"Guilt?" Anya said around a mouthful of chocolate chips "For what?"

"S-she didn't stop him" Willow sobbed out "She could've prevented all that happened if she'd only stopped him first"

"She couldn't have stopped him. She's what? 120 soaking wet? 5'6 on her toes? He was 6'8 and 350lbs of pure angry muscle!"
Anya ticked off on her fingers.

"But her magic" Willow argued pushing a cookie sheet into the oven.

"She's a healer, like you. She peacefully rights wrongs and injustices. He was too deeply evil for her to have any effect" Anya reached for more chocolate.

Willow snatched the quickly emptying bag away "No more for you. It's past midnight, they should be back by now" Anya waved away Willow's concern. "Oh geddess. They could be hurt, or worse. The High Witch could have them. or they could need our help.
They could be surrounded by Vamps. Where are they? Anya worry with me dammit! They could be in the hands of evil right now!" Willow was nearly sobbing again.

"Or they could be standing right behind you enjoying your babble fest" Buffy said perkily from the kitchen doorway.

Willow spun quickly and rushed to her side "Are you okay" she began to check the Slayer for injuries. Willow ran a gentle hand all over her. She started from her face and moved down to her hips before Buffy stopped her.

"Wills hun I'm fine" Buffy grasped Willow's shoulders in an attempt to calm the shaking.

"Where's Kida?" Willow looked over Buffy's shoulder for the smaller girl.

"Oh I beat her senseless and left her for dead in a dark alley" Buffy said non-chalantly.

"What?" Willow squeaked turning to look into the slayers eyes.
Anya perked up slightly.

"I'm right here" Kida came up behind Buffy holding out a Mocha "These things go right through me"
Buffy blinked "Too much info"

Hakida winked at her "Too much Mocha"

They all sat down the the island sharing the now cooling cookies.

"So this High Witch. She's searching for her heart in Sunnydale" Willow bit into the warm gooey cookie and sipped the milk that sat next to her.

"Yeah. Do you know of anyone who'd be that obsessed with power that they'd risk bringing it to a HellMouth?" Kida surveyed the cookies with a critical eye.

"Oh eat one. Your nothing but skin and bones" Buffy snapped placing a plate with 3 cookies in front of the Mystic.

Hakida huffed at her but obligingly took a cookie and bit in.

"Well no. I don't know anyone 'that' obsessed with magicks" Willow rubbed her cheek in thought. "Maybe the Troika?"

"Would they be able to transport themselves from the Kush and back to Sunnydale in two days?" Kida asked taking another cookie from her plate. It had been so long since she'd had sweet things.

"Not a clue" Buffy flipped her hair back over her shoulders "But if anyone could manage it, it'd probably be those three geeks"

"Buffy's right" Anya piped up around a mouth full of cookie.

"Ew Anyanka" Kida frowned.

"Chew"

"Your staying here tonight" Willow said in a strong voice "Buffy tell Kida she has to stay here tonight?"

Buffy gave in to the slight whine in Willow's voice "You have to stay here Kida. Willow will kill me if you don't"

"Well.." Kida seemed to stare at the wall pleadingly.

"Your staying and that's that" Willow said firmly.

"Okay" Kida sighed shrugging her shoulders.

Buffy wondered why the Mystic was acting so weird.

Anya answered her question.

"She's in here isn't she? Your partners in here" Anya bounced in her stool. "Who is it? Aika?"

"No" Kida shook her head.

"Spiri?"

"Nope"

"Ayumi?"

"Not in this lifetime"

"Bricu"

Kida paused frowning slightly "No. And you said her name wrong"

"Are you sure?"

"Spiri is Bricu's partner"

"Oh. Khavi?"

"Ayumi's partner" Kida sat back on the stool hooking her ankles around the lower post.

"It's one of the two that I don't know the names of" Anya frowned her displeasure. She was just glad Xander wasn't around to see that she did'nt know everything about the Chosen Eight.

"Yup" Hakida laughed softly.

"Damn"

"This is your room for now" Buffy opened the door to the guest room "My little sister's room is across the hall. She's not here tonight spending the night with one of her friends. You'll meet her tomorrow"

"Okay" Kida smiled at the slayer "Thanks. For letting me stay here"

"It's cool" Buffy sighed glancing at what used to be her mother's room. Now the room Willow inhabited "Whatever makes her
happy"

"I know what you mean. She has that affect on people" Kida laughed softly entering the room "Good night Slayer"

"Night short Mystic of Artemis person who see's invisible people" Buffy rolled her eyes "Was there really someone there or is that just to piss off Anya"

Hakida gave her a Mona Lisa smile

"Both"

Willow tried to settle in. the room just felt so void without Tara in it. She couldn't remember the last time she'd slept alone. She was tempted to go to Buffy or Hakida but she didn't want to invade their privacy. So she lay there. Silent tears fell down her face.

"Oh Tara. What did I do?" Willow sobbed softly into her pillow. She didn't want the slayer to hear.

But with her advanced hearing, the Slayer unfortunately did.

Buffy lay still for as long as she could listening to Willow's pain filled sobs for the other wiccan. Buffy wanted to march in there and make her forget. But she didn't think Willow was ready for that. She'd loved the girl almost from the moment she'd met her. Her sweet disposition had made an impression on Buffy that she still carried with her. No one deserved this kind of pain. Especially not Willow.

Buffy had watched as the girl turned into a young woman, and as the young woman turned into the sometimes, strong willed and stubborn witch. She'd watched Willow fall in love. First with Oz, then Tara. She always suspected that the other witch knew that Buffy's feelings for Willow went beyond friendship. But she knew that Oz had been completely oblivious.

Willow had quieted momentarily. Buffy prayed that she'd cried herself to sleep. She couldn't take much more of her pain. The soft sobbing returned. Buffy got out of her bed and crossed the darkened hallway to Willow's room. She quietly opened the door and saw Willow. The weeping young woman was curled up in the fetal position weeiping into her already soaked pillow.
Buffy crossed to the bed and sat down. She rolled Willow towards her and guided her head into her lap.

"Oh Wills it's gonna be okay" Buffy caressed the witches soft red hair.

"I thought she loved me" Willow wept into the slayers lap.

"She loved you. Maybe not enough. But she did love you" Buffy spoke softly to keep her voice from breaking .

"But I'll always love you. No matter what"
