Chapter 2

[reviews]

"Is she okay?" Faith asked Buffy as she came out of Willow's room. Buffy shrugged her shoulders and leaned against the wall.

"I don't know," sighed Buffy, completely worn out. "I think she just needs some rest."

"Well, she slept the whole way here," pointed out the dark slayer. "Then again I think she was having nightmares so I guess that doesn't really count as sleep." Faith starting walking down the hall knowing Buffy would follow her. "So, not that I'm not glad to see you, but... aren't you dead?"

"I don't even know anymore," shrugged Buffy, not having an explanation for way she was back in the land of the living. "The last thing I remember was talking to Spike, then I got trapped. Next thing I knew I was laying on the edge of that crater that was once my home."

"Weird, huh?" asked Faith and Buffy nodded. "So you don't know where you went?"

"No, I just woke up," answered the blonde. "Oh, and my stab wound was healed," she added pulled up her shirt to show the other slayer. Sure enough the only mark was a scar.

"That's some strange shit, B," exclaimed Faith not wanting to ponder the meaning of life and death. "So how many times is this now?"

"Three," smiled Buffy, proud of herself. "And I'm still standing!" Faith laughed as they descended the stairs and were meet by a very loud group. As soon as they were spotted, everything went quite. "Hey."

"Buffster!" cheered Xander as her ran over with his arms wide open and pulled her into a loving hug. She smiled and held onto him tight.

"X-Man!" she laughed back as he let her go so the others could hug her. Giles was next in line. He moved towards her, but stopped to stare at her lovingly. "Giles..." she whispered before being pulled into a warm hug. Then came Cordy, Robin, Andrew and then Fred even though they had never met. Angel stood near the back, kicking his feet nervously. She excused herself from the group hang time and walked over to him.

"Hello, Buffy," he greeted quietly. She ran up to him and hugged him for all she was worth. He was surprised by her action, but hugged her anyway. "Umm... good to see you, too." Buffy dropped down and was suddenly very embarrassed over her behavior. Angel could tell that she needed to talk and motioned towards his office. They walked in and shut the door. "So, why do you think you're back?"

"I'm not sure, but..." she paused. "I think it's because I'm done."

"Huh?" he questioned not understanding what she was saying.

"Baking," she stated. A small smiled appeared in her face. "I think I'm cookies."

"Good for you," he said sadly. "Any idea who gets to enjoy you?" Her expression softened.

"Angel...I'm sorry," she said quietly. He held up his hands, stopping her.

"I know it's not me," he explained. "I know I'm not why you're back. I've always known that what we had could never be forever, but it was amazing while it lasted. But... your heart will always belong to someone else. Someone better. I just wanted to know if you figured out who it was yet."

"I'd like to say that I always knew on some level who my soul mate was, but that would just make me look stupid," she smiled nervously before getting quite. "So is that a yes or a no?" Angel asked for clarification. Buffy smiled at him and nodded, indicating a yes.

"She's kinda Willow-shaped," she explain, not wanting to draw out the answer to Angel's unasked question. "A little taller than me, red hair, cutie pie smile... You got that I was talking about Willow, right?" Angel laughed. "You know I'll always love you, but... it just isn't there anymore. I'm sorry."

"You don't need to apologize to me," he corrected her. Angel walked her over to the couch and they sat down. "You can't control the way you feel."

"I know that. It's just that when I look in your eyes and see all the pain, I can't help but think that I cause some of that," the small blonde replied. Angel shook his head.

"All that pain comes from two hundred and forty-five years of evil," he explained, trying to get to the point he wanted to get across. "The only emotion that you strike up in me is happiness. That is all you have every caused me."

"Really?" questioned Buffy, not sure weather Angel was being truthful. "Cause if you're just trying to make me feel better..." Angel cut her off with a finger to her mouth.

"Cross my heart, hope to die," he smiled, removing his finger. Buffy smiled back at him and hugged him.

"Thanks," she mumbled against his shoulder causing Angel to chuckle. He was about to say something, when there was a knock at the door. Without waiting for an invitation, Cordy entered.

"Sorry to interrupt."

"No you're not," corrected Buffy with a smile as she unfolded herself form Angel's embrace.

"No, I'm not," admitted the brunette. "He's my boyfriend!"

"I am?" asked Angel in surprise. They hadn't really had that conversation yet. Cordy gave him a mysterious smile and turned her attention towards the slayer.

"Dawn's asking for you," she informed the blonde. Buffy nodded and stood up. "We'll talk again later?"

"Sure," answered the vampire, who was having a staring contest with Cordelia. Buffy noticed this and quickly made her way to the door.

"I better go before you start having sex on the desk," she commented as she slipped out the door. As soon as she was on the other side, Fred came running over to her. "Hey?" she laughed at the girl's enthusiasm.

"Hi, I'm Fred," she greeted putting her hand out. Buffy shook it and smiled.

"Right," stated Buffy. "Willow was telling me about you. I guess I don't really have to introduce myself around here."

"You certainly don't," agreed Fred. "I've heard about you since I first came here." Buffy raised her eyebrows in surprise.

"Really?" she question. Fred nodded. "And when was that?"

"A little over two years ago, I think," Fred thought. "Oh, back when you dies the last time."

"I do have a tendency to do that." They laughed. Buffy looked over towards the stairs. "Nothing personal, but I was kinda told may sister wanted to see me..."

"Oh, yeah," replied Fred. "Go ahead." Buffy gave her a smile before heading up the stairs without any further interruptions. She made her way up to the room Dawn and Willow were resting in. She knocked on the door. "Dawnie?

"Buff, come in," Dawn called, in a scared voice. Suddenly Buffy's slayer senses went wild. She slowly opened the door and froze when she saw what was inside. "What happened?"

"I don't know," Dawn frantically answered, as she tried to wake Willow up. "When I woke up she was shaking and then her nose started to bleed." Buffy ran over to her best friend's bedside and touched her face. She withdrew her hand when she felt how hot it was. Dawn looked like she was about to cry. "What's wrong with her?" she questioned. Buffy shook her head.

"We need to get her to a hospital ASAP," the slayer informed as she carefully picked up the redhead and made her way out the door. Dawn stood in the middle of the room and knowing what to do. She quickly grabbed Willow's purse and followed her sister to the lobby.
