Author's Note: Big thanks to Erin for being my beta reader.

It's the first day of school and I'm feeling quite giddy over the prospect of seeing what my first homework assignment will be. Buffy told me I was "offbeat" but I'd rather be offbeat than some snooty rich person, although I'm not really rich so it'd be hard for me to be that person. I walk up the steps, cherishing the sight of the school building looming overhead. I enter through the doors, oblivious to the staring faces, and whispered comments. I approach my locker, still smiling...and freeze.

"Dyke," I say, reading the inscription on my locker out loud. I look around, scanning over the other students, but either they're busy talking with somebody or they aren't looking at me. I feel a cold dread now, and don't like the feeling one bit. I'm used to torment, but it was usually of the verbal variety. At least then, I could place a face with the insult. I whirl around and dash towards the library. I shove the door open to see Buffy seated with Xander beside her and Giles pacing. "Giles," I say, flustered, and gesturing with my arms back towards the doors. Giles merely nods his head as I walk forward and slump into a chair. Buffy reaches a hand across, taking one of mine, while my other hand is busy checking my pulse to make sure I didn't wind up in hell or something.

"I'm sorry, Will. It seems that the ultra hip contingent of Sunnydale High has nothing better to do," Xander quips, trying to ease the feeling of gloom, or whatever it was that filled the library. I didn't think it was gloom but I couldn't come up with a better word at the moment. I was still too transfixed on that one word.

"They had a picture of two girls...uh...in a sixty nine position...you know," Buffy says, stammering a bit. I look at her, sad for her, and not quite sure what a sixty-nine is. Whatever it is, it can't be good though.

"Sixty nine? Wouldn't it be hard for a girl to position herself in a six and the other in a nine? I mean, that would require serious flexibility and-" I say, confusion evident, before Buffy slides the picture across to me. My eyes widen, and I nearly tilt my chair to the floor with me landing too. "Oh..." I reply, quickly pushing the picture back, and blushing. Xander regards me with a mixture of amusement and concern.

"You didn't know what a sixty nine was, Will?" he asks, as Buffy shoots him a glare. I look at him, feeling defensive.

"I don't have access to porn. Well, I do but...If my mother...you know, if she had...If Joyce finds out that I had such content on my computer, I'd be in so much trouble! Then Joyce would ask Buffy, and Buffy would get in trouble too. I'd feel sad because Buffy got in trouble over me and she didn't even do anything," I say, calming myself down at the end of my tangent. Buffy gives me an amused smile, while Xander gives me a nod, but the twinkling in his eyes say it all. I pout at him.

"God...I swear, the next person wearing black sandals is getting an earful," Cordelia mutters, walking up to the table. Buffy's on her feet and grabbing Cordelia by the front of her blouse before I can even let out a word. Cordelia gives a little gasp, as I'm on my feet, and helping Giles pull Buffy away. Xander stands between the girls. Buffy's clearly irate and I now understand why.

"Did you do this? Did you put your flunkies up to it?" Buffy asks, biting each word. Cordelia frowns. I look back and forth between them, not sure if I should glare at Cordelia or try and calm Buffy down.

"No. I swear, Buffy. It doesn't surprise me that this has happened though. What? Did you think everybody in school would be welcoming the fact that you two are lesbians and together? I hate to break it to you, but you both have target circles," Cordelia replies, sounding a little ticked, but still weary of enraging Buffy further. I force Buffy back onto the table and sit next to her, wrapping my arms around her neck should she charge again.

"I must agree with Cordelia. What happened is to be expected, now that your relationship has come out into the open. While we have been quite accepting and approving, most of the school likely sees it as otherwise. You two should be cautious for the rest of the day. I'll talk to Snyder and see if we can come up with something," Giles says. Buffy sighs, and glances at me. I can see she's still angry, but knows that Giles is right. I kiss her on the cheek and let loose my grasp.

"I have a class now, but I'll meet you here for lunch, okay?" I ask, receiving a nod. I smile, trying to give Buffy the courage that I'm feeling. Okay, not really feeling courage, more like great big balls of fear and dread. I exit the library, ignoring Cordelia. She may not have been involved in the acts of that morning but she had still tormented Xander and I for years, for pleasure. Bitch.

I let out a grunt, and shoot an annoyed glance at the person who rocked me with their shoulder. I frown, and continue on my path to the library. I feel a hand clutch my shoulder, and reach into my pocket to grab my bottle of holy water, before realizing that vampires can't appear in daylight. I turn around to meet the sneering gaze of Principal Snyder.

"Principal Snyder, hi," I say, clearly worried about his sudden appearance, and how I fit into the picture. He just gives me a grim smile, sending the hairs on my neck up.

"Ms. Rosenberg, I hear that you have been up to charades again. Namely, consorting with Ms. Summers in sexual manners that are explicitly frowned upon in this institution," he says, his voice stern. My eyes widen.

"C-consorting? We are together b-but no public displays of affection here. We just keep it to hand holding," I say, my brows furrowing, as I quickly realize that this is a war I'm set up to lose. I wonder if Buffy has met with him yet. I hope not.

"Holding hands? My students tell me that you and Ms. Summers have been seen making out quite passionately within the library. They've said that you have been French kissing and groping each other in a manner only seen with apes," he growls, as I flinch, and take a couple steps back. I realize a small crowd's forming, and blush.

"A-apes? W-we don't...no groping," I stammer, praying that Buffy would show up, now would be a really, really great time. I glance over my shoulder, but nobody has come to my rescue.

"Normally, I'd have you both expelled. Unfortunately, and lucky for you, the school board seems to think that we should start becoming more accepting of non-heterosexual people. If I catch either of you, making even the slightest mistake, so much as drinking water for too long at the water fountain, you'll be expelled," Snyder whispers, now closing in on my face. I feel a hand shove me back, and I'm now gazing up at Giles. His back rather, but I see a brief flash of fear pass on Snyder's face as he backs away. Giles turns, and ushers me into the library. It's empty.

"Are you alright?" Giles asks, concern on his face. He's kneeling, eye level with me and I just throw my arms around him, hugging him as tightly as possible. I manage to hold back the tears, barely though.

"He was horrible, Giles. H-he said he'd expel Buffy and I if he caught us doing anything he deems wrong. I've never even been told to be quiet in a class! He can't expel me can he?" I ask, leaning back, and suddenly worried that Snyder could do such a thing.

"The school board could overrule him, but they have entrusted Snyder to do whatever's necessary. He does have the power to expel you both, and presumably, could do such a thing if push came to shove. I talked with him earlier, and he was quite adamant that you two, and I as a matter of fact, were troublemakers, and that if he can, he'll find a way to get rid of us," Giles says. I close my eyes and bury my head in my hands. It's that time when Buffy chooses to open the doors and enter the library.

"What's going on?" she asks, instantly in "Slay" mode whenever something bad comes up. I lift my head and look at her.

"Snyder wants to expel us," I say, as Buffy shrugs her shoulders, not aware how dire the situation is.

"What else is new?" she asks, as I frown, then glare at her. Buffy knows that when I glare, I always mean business.

"Buffy, he's going to expel us. N-not now, but the split second we do anything wrong. W-why, somebody could even tell him something, and he could expel us over that. This is serious, Buffy. This isn't Snyder just talking and making idle threats. He threatened to fire Giles," I whisper, suddenly seeing what could happen. I stare at Giles, who is wiping his glasses. Buffy's busy clenching and unclenching her fists.

"I wish I could just...urgghh," Buffy cries out in frustration. I tense a little; afraid she'll act on what she said.

"Buffy," I warn her, as she looks at me, and nods her head.

"Has anything else happened?" asks Buffy, suddenly worried that I may have been physically harmed. I shudder at the thought, but quickly smile at Buffy, knowing she'd take my shudder the wrong way. I like having Buffy protect me. Makes me a little giddy.

"I'm okay. There were a few snide comments in some classes, but nothing else...except for the Snyder incident," I reply. Buffy glances at her watch, as I frown, knowing what's up when she glances at me.

"Sorry, baby. I have to split, since my lunch break's over. Damn...I never ate. I'll grab something when I hit class," she says, before dashing off. I frown at Giles, not happy at the thought of Buffy starving her poor stomach. I bet it's begging for food and it won't receive any nourishment for hours. By then...get a grip Willow. She'll be fine.

"I gotta go too, homework, and stuff," I say, leaving Giles alone in the library. Giles sighs, resting his chin on the palm of his hand.

"You...must be the anointed one," drawls a voice, full of confidence. A figure strolls into view, cigarette stuck between his lips, and clad in a black duster over a red button down shirt, with black leather pants. The child looks up, cautious.

"Who are you?" he asks, as the figure grins, and proceeds to deliver a mock bow, earning growls from the flunkies around the anointed one.

"Name's Spike. Drusilla and I are taking over this operation. I heard you wanted to revive The Master. What a noble plan...raise a vampire who already got dusted by the Slayer. That'll definitely work," Spike says, letting loose with a giggle. A vampire charges him, and receives a hard right to the face. Spike promptly snaps its neck, and lifts his face back to the anointed one.

"What do you want?" the anointed one asks, clearly intrigued now by Spike.

"What I want is the Slayer dead. What I'd really relish though..." Spike says, abruptly pulling a stake out, and driving it through the heart of the anointed one. The anointed one looks up at him in surprise, before dissolving to dust. Spike turns to see the door opening.

"Drusilla," Spike says, a smile spreading on his face. Dru's clad in a flowering white gown, and dances into the room. Drusilla smiles and stares over the faces of the four remaining vampires who all look startled. She lifts a hand, and holds her hand out, palm up.

"Come on," she drawls, curling her fingers into her palm. She grins delighted as the four move closer. They seem in a trance and Drusilla smiles, snapping a neck of one vampire, and moving to the next one who seems unfazed. She proceeds to dust the other three vampires.

"That felt wonderful, Spike. Miss Edith claps her hands in happiness and the moon drinks us," Drusilla murmurs while leaning against Spike.

"The moon will be drinking more soon enough, love. We'll bathe in the Slayer's blood," says Spike, kissing Drusilla passionately.

I stretch lazily on the bed, smoothing my cotton top down over my stomach. I rest my head on the headboard, and just watch Buffy wiping her hair off. I smile, taking in the figure hidden beneath the white robe. Buffy catches me staring and tosses the towel away, seductively walking towards the bed, and climbing atop. My eyes widen a bit, and my breathing is growing heavier. Buffy smiles, getting closer, but pauses at the sight of my worried expression. I'm still thinking back to Snyder's threats of expulsion.

"What are you thinking?" Buffy asks, clearly able to read my emotions already. I guess true love allows for lovers to read each other like a book. Okay, that made a nasty image in my head. I quickly shake it off.

"I was thinking about Snyder. I know you aren't that concerned, but I am. My biggest offense was getting an A- on a paper. Now, I can be expelled for drinking water too long at the water fountain. It's like I'll be walking on glass, with all these elements around me, trying to knock me over," I say, wrapping my arms around my legs. Buffy sighs, and settles next to me.

"It worries me too, Will. I got kicked out of Hemery, and I really don't want my mother having to go through that again. Snyder's a bug. He can talk all he wants, but I have faith in the school board. Look, if something happens, we can always go to the Mayor, okay? My mother saw him at an art gallery, and told me that he was quite partial to children," Buffy says. I nod my head, not feeling that hopeful. Buffy leans forward, kissing me briefly on the forehead. I close my eyes, and open them, gazing into hers.

"Thanks. It's just...with the locker incident, I'm feeling a little vulnerable," I say, eyes glancing down to my feet. I stare at the red nail polish that Buffy chose, saying they matched my hair.

"I'll always protect you, baby. Whoever comes after you, has to deal with me first," Buffy says, kissing me passionately on the lips. We break apart, a grin on my face. I snuggle against her, drifting to sleep. I feel Buffy kiss my forehead again, before drifting to dreamscape.
