Obsession

Part 26

[reviews]

Willow had thought that Buffy was pulling her onto the dance floor, she soon found out she was wrong.

Buffy pushed through the crowd and turned a corner before she led them into a back room that was used for storing sound equipment.

Willow was silent the entire time, only speaking when Buffy closed the door.

"What was that?"

Buffy shrugged and sat down on a stool.

"I figured that you wouldn't want your friends looking at you, after what Faith just revealed."

Willow smiled when she realised that Buffy was right, she didn't want the Scoobies looking at her, asking questions.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at the table, Xander, Cordy and Tara turned expectant faces to Gunn.

Gunn laughed at the look on their faces and stood up.

"Anyone want a drink?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Giles mouth opened and closed.

Willow had just told him that Faith was gone.

"Can I ask why?"

Willow's eyes shifted over to the stacks, and Giles followed her gaze.

He was surprised to see Buffy and Gunn appear, but apparently Willow wasn't.

"She over stepped the mark."

He nodded his head and went into his office to phone Faith's watcher, wanting to make sure everything was okay.

Buffy and Gunn moved further into the library, avoiding the sunlight that graced the room.

They had just sat down, when Snyder walked in.

"You have class," he barked at Willow before turning his gaze on two people he didn't know.

"Who are you?"

Gunn smirked and leaned back in his seat, and Buffy gave Willow a look.

"They are... they..." she didn't know how to explain them, luckily Giles came to her rescue.

"Willow I just spoke with... Principal Snyder."

Snyder look Giles up and down before turning to Willow.

"Class. Now." He left the room quickly, wanting to distance himself from the Englishman.

Willow shrugged and sat down.

Buffy's eyebrow rose and she turned to the Slayer.

"What are you missing?"

"English."

Buffy remembered Willow saying something about flunking English.

"And you don't think that that's the class you need to go to?"

Willow pouted at the Vampire's logic and grumbled before grabbing her book bag and standing up.

"Giles, I have to go to class, you want to let Buffy and Gunn know about tonight?"

Buffy looked up at the watcher and waited for him to fill them in.

"While you are now helping with big problems, Willow and I were talking and we think that you should go on patrol tonight."

Buffy blinked.

"You want me to patrol with Willow tonight? Alone?"

Giles nodded his head.

"Okay."

It was Giles turn to blink.

"I was expecting more of an argument."

"Well, I'm going to be around more, I figure I'm going to have to do it eventually."

She just hoped that she could control her lust afterwards.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffy leaned against the tree under Willow's window, and waited for her to show.

She had been waiting for ten minutes now to start the patrol, but for some reason the Slayer was taking her time.

Buffy looked up at Willow's window when she heard raised voices.

Knowing she shouldn't, Buffy climbed the tree and hid out of view, to see what was happening inside.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Willow closed her bedroom door, knowing it wouldn't stop her mom following her. The rows had been escalating.

"Look I don't want to talk about it."

Joyce snorted and placed her hands on her hips.

"Tough, because I do. Willow, you shouldn't be anywhere near her."

Willow threw her arms up in the air and opened her weapons chest, removing her favourite stake and knife before closing it again.

"Mom, we're patrolling, its not like she's taking me on a date."

Joyce rolled her eyes at her daughter and motioned for her to sit down.

"I can't mom, I'm already late as it is."

"She's no good for you."

Willow looked toward the window, sure she could sense Buffy there, even if she couldn't see her.

"It's a little late for that."

"No!" Joyce exploded. "Its not. Your still young sweetie and this phase your going through will be over before you know it."

Willow shook her head sadly at her mom.

"You don't know me at all do you?"

She never waited for an answer. She opened the window and claimed out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffy hit the ground just as Willow stepped out her window.

She caught the Slayer's coat as Willow threw it down to her, and waited until she was also on the ground before turning and walking away, not sure what to say.

"You heard huh?"

Buffy nodded her head.

"I figured, she wasn't exactly quiet."

Buffy snorted and turned her head, catching a glimpse of Willow's face. She could smell the tears Willow was trying to hold in.

"Are you okay?"

Willow shrugged and turned directions.

"Where are you going?" Buffy turned to follow the Slayer.

"Giles' place. I'm going to see if I can crash there for a few days."

Buffy grabbed Willow's arm to halt her.

"Are things really that bad?"

Willow nodded her head.

"I'm sorry."

The Slayer snorted and pulled her arm out of Buffy's grasp.

"Its not your fault, well it is, but its mine too. She can't seem to get it into her head that I don't want to date boys."

Buffy growled before she could stop herself.

Willow smirked at her but didn't say anything.

"I think a little time apart will do us good."

Buffy did a double take before she realised that Willow was talking about her and her mom.

"Maybe that would be best."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Giles hung up the phone and sighed.

Jenny had called again, and while he didn't want to talk to her, he couldn't be so rude as to hang up the phone.

She hadn't sounded like herself, gone was the happy persona he knew.

He was brought out of his musing when his door opened.

Willow walked in and made a beeline for the couch, Giles following her.

"What is it?" He could tell by her eyes, something was wrong.

"Mom."

He sighed. He knew things with Joyce hadn't been good lately, and by the sounds of it, it had gotten worse.

As a draft of wind blew over him, he turned his head, frowning when he saw Buffy just standing there, outside.

As it dawned on him why, he turned to Willow.

"Forgotten something?"

Willow frowned before her eyes widened.

"Buffy!"

Giles smiled at her before turning and inviting Buffy in.

"God I'm sorry, its just with mom and everything that I forgot that-"

Buffy cut her off, shaking her head at her.

"No worries Will."

Buffy took a seat on the armchair across from the Slayer and her watcher.

Willow sent her a half smile before turning back to Giles.

"Can I crash here for a few days?"

Giles frowned and leaned forward.

"Do you think avoidance in the answer?"

Willow looked down and fiddled with her shirt cuffs.

"Is that a no?"

Giles reached out and rested his hand on her should.

Buffy could feel her demon stir at the innocent touch and rolled her eyes at herself.

"No, it wasn't a no. Is it really that bad?"

Willow raised her eyes to his, and he knew, it was really that bad.

"Of course you can stay. I'll make up the spare room tonight while you and Buffy patrol."

Willow smiled before throwing her arms around him.

"I knew I could count on you."

Giles blushed at the display of affection but returned the hug.

Buffy smiled, glad that Willow could count on her watcher so much.

Willow broke it off and turned to the Vampire.

"Ready to patrol?"

Buffy didn't answer verbally, but stood up and handed Willow her coat back.
