Risky...but worth it

Bad News Giles

[reviews]

"Stop!" Willow held her hand in the air, and the Hell Hounds just stayed in their jumping positions, not entirely sure what was happening.

"Will...what the..." Buffy hadn't actually seen Willow use magick yet. She knew she had some witchy power...but she didn't know it was for real.

"Are you gonna slay them now?" Willow nodded her head towards the hounds, and Buffy just nodded, axing heads, and saving the Prom.

"That was...wow...why haven't you ever done that before...w/ the magicks, I mean?"

"There was never a need really. I don't like to abuse my power, and you're great at the slaying. You don't need it." Willow smiled, as Buffy came over, and planted a 'thank you' kiss on her cheek. Too cute...

"Hey...should still be time for a couple dances...still wanna be my date to the Prom?" Buffy held out her hand, and was more than excited when Willow took it.

"Buffy, wow...you look gorgeous!" Cordelia and the Cordettes came up to Buffy and Willow. "Hey, Willow. I see you've come to your senses about our Buffy here."

"Huh?" The redhead wasn't aware she was being talked about...in a good way.

"Ignore them...you owe me a dance." Buffy waved past the others, and had Willow locked in a slow song in no time. She refused to let her go, too. Buffy didn't want to admit it...but she was in love. If she admitted it, she was afraid she'd jinx herself.

"It's over...wanna go home now?" Willow hadn't let go, either. Even during the fast songs, they slow danced. Everything else around them didn't register.

"Will I get a goodnight kiss?" Buffy puckered up, and Willow planted a quick one on her. "I hope it's better than that. That was lame, Rosenberg."

"You know we can't...here..." Willow looked around, afraid that people were watching, but nobody was...they were saying their goodnights, and getting ready for after parties. "Maybe we can watch some videos? I don't think Giles would mind."

"At your place? I don't want Faith in our business." Buffy wanted some alone time. She and Willow always kissed after patrol...but never like that first kiss. That first kiss was electric. Fire.

"We can watch them at my place. That's fine." Willow's blush made Buffy squirm. The blonde loved when the redhead became red. "No hanky-panky, though."

"Uh...why not?" Buffy's plans were already foiled. She was going to graduate next week...and she didn't want to go to college a virgin. It was just a super plus that she was in love w/ Willow...but why had it happened so fast? Willow had only been here for two weeks. This was their first real date. What happened now?

"Something wrong?" They were walking back to the complex, hand in hand.

"No...just thinking. It gets busy up here sometimes." Buffy hefted the supplies bag over her shoulder a little better, and tapped her head lightly.

"I understand that completely. I'm busy up here most of the time myself." They were to the complex... "Guess we should go inside, huh?"

"That's what people normally do in these situations." Buffy leaned against the doorframe, as Willow unlocked the door. "Well...I had a good time tonight, Hell hounds aside..."

"Yeah...me, too." Willow opened the door, and just smiled at Buffy. "We should probably tell Giles you're going to be over here a bit."

"I can't stay all night?" Buffy was trying awfully hard. She knew that...but she would try even harder if she had to... so, she brought out the pout.

"Aww...don't pout. I just...it's too...well...I'm not sure Giles would like that too much." Willow knew that wasn't true...but she had to say something. If Buffy stayed the night...it was already risky just being alone w/ her. Willow was experienced...she wasn't used to waiting this long for sex...but she knew she had to b/c their first time had to be the mating ritual. Two weeks away...

"Poo on Giles...I'm the boss of me." Buffy was about to start whining about it...but something hit her...whining was an immature, 15 year old thing to do. If she wanted to get in Willow's pants tonight, whining wasn't going to help.

"One day...I promise." Willow kissed her sweetly before she let Buffy in the flat, shutting and locking the door behind her. "Well...here we are. Are you hungry?"

"Hor...hungry, yeah..." She was used to getting the question from Faith every night. Buffy had to stop herself from automatic responses.

"Popcorn? It's about all I really have except sandwich stuff."

"I'll take a sand witch..." Buffy smiled, wondering if Willow got the comment. From the smirk and slight giggle, it was good! "Popcorn's fine. Um...maybe some decaf?"

"Half milk...coming right up." Willow went into the kitchen, and got everything brewing and popping. While she was there, Buffy took her dress off, and changed back into her street clothes. No need for shoes or socks...she wanted to play footsie like a teenager. "I hope you don't mind...I only have whole...ly cow...Buffy?"

"Oh, um...sorry." Buffy was just in the process of putting her shirt on when Willow caught her half naked. "I didn't want to wear that dress all night. Kinda too much..."

"I get ya." Willow swallowed hard. She had a feeling that Buffy was...buff...but she had no idea...and wow...what a Buff buff she is... "I'll...um...I'll go change, too...be right back." Willow needed to breathe after that little show. She shut the door to her bedroom, and went about putting on long sleeved pajamas, sweatshirt, sweatpants, and two pairs of socks. She had to take precautions...b/c after that, any skin on skin contact could cause some serious problems...

"You okay in there?" Buffy knocked on the door. Willow had been in there quite some time. "Need any help?"

"Buffy! What? No!" Willow was still flustered. Maybe a cold shower would work...definitely not coffee...nothing warm... "Um...I'm decent."

"I think so, too." Buffy opened the door, and saw Willow looking hilarious in her layers of clothing. "Are you cold?"

"Oh, um...yeah...you're not? I think my heater's broken."

"It's May...it's almost 70 degrees out every day...why would you use your heater?" Buffy glanced around the bedroom, taking in what she could. "So...this is where you sleep, huh? Looks cozy..."

"It is...cozy, I mean..." Willow watched Buffy's movements, as the blonde got nosy, picking up papers and books. The redhead was glad that she'd put up all the chants and herbs, books and notebooks she had on the mating ritual.

"I like it. Has that...Willowy vibe. I can see you getting comfortable in here." Buffy's innuendo wasn't lost on the redhead. It made her wish she had a fan. "So...what movies do you have?"

"Oh...um...they're mostly in the living room. I didn't bring many w/ me from England...just basic ones that are a must have." Willow wished Buffy wouldn't stand so close to her bed...it was way too tempting.

"Well..." Buffy picked up her favorite book. It was sitting on Willow's nightstand w/ a bookmark in place. So...the redhead did get the book she suggested...and went the next step, and was actually reading it.

"Yeah...I found it at the old bookstore in town. Thanks for suggesting it. I like it." Willow didn't want to admit that it was an amazing novel...or that she was surprised Buffy liked it...let alone read an entire book front to back. "So...movies?"

"Yeah..." Buffy held her arm out for Willow to take, and the redhead linked her arm through the loop. "So...whatcha got that's a must have?"

"Um..." Willow pointed to her small collection, and let Buffy choose. "If you like, we can run to the video store. I'm sure they're still..."

"No way! We're watching this!" Buffy got excited. Willow had her favorite movie, too...and not many people liked it! This redhead was turning out to be a dream come true for Buffy. The best part? Giles approved! Giles never approved of the people she'd bring home.

"I'll get the...oh, you already did." Willow smiled b/c Buffy had already put the popcorn and coffee on the table. She'd even prepared the cushions for cuddling. Not a bad idea...but then Willow remembered...no hanky panky...must resist hanky panky...

"You weren't kidding when you said this flat is the exact mirror of ours. All your stuff is in the same place, too." Buffy sat down on the couch. She'd debated how exactly she'd go about getting cuddles...and which position was the best. Laying down was her final decision...

"Oh, I love this movie." Willow hadn't seen what Buffy put in, and was very surprised. Not many people liked this movie.

"Me, too." Buffy patted the seat beside Willow...but the redhead chose to turn the lights off...to get rid of the glare on the TV of course...not to up the hanky panky possibilities. "Well...um...so..."

"Yeah...pretty much." They giggled. Now that they were here, they didn't know what to say. They both just wanted to kiss...but Willow had to wait for Buffy.

"Thanks for being my date tonight."

"From what Cordelia says, you turned down lots of offers. You didn't have to do that."

"I really did..." Buffy leaned forward the little bit, and softly brought their lips together.

"I like this...waking up next to you." Buffy was playing w/ shirt seams, as Willow played w/ golden hair.

"It's not so bad...but Giles will probably kill us both." Willow was safe. Somehow, during all the major kissage, gropage, and moans, she'd been able to stop. She didn't want to...she didn't think she could...but she did. It wasn't time yet...and by waiting, it'd be that much better when it was time.

"I should probably start preparing my pouty face now, huh?" Buffy pouted, and did her puppy dog eyes. Yep, Giles was a goner...

"Hey...since you took me out on a date last night, how about I take you out tonight? It only seems fair." Willow accepted the 'hell yes' kiss that came in reply. "If that wasn't a yes, I don't know what is..."

"That was a hell yes." See? Told you so...

"Well...that's good...it's a date then." Willow smiled. This young woman was more than she'd ever thought possible. Willow Rosenberg...dare she say it? Is falling in love...

"It's definitely a date." Buffy was glad she fell asleep on the couch. Waking up beside Willow was the greatest thing she'd ever experienced. "Do you think Giles is gonna kill me?"

"No...I'd say he'll just do that little clucking noise w/ his tongue...like when he gets upset...but nothing more than a few little lectures on the importance of checking in. I'd say that's all." Willow had only known Giles for two weeks...but she'd already picked up on some of his habits. It was amusing to watch Faith and Buffy purposefully do something to ignite a 'dear lord,' or a quick wipe of the glasses. Those two were fun to watch together in general. They were just like sisters.

"Whatcha thinking in there?" Buffy tapped Willow's head, who just smiled at her. "Good thoughts? You have your 'good thoughts' smile."

"Yeah...all good thoughts." Willow kissed Buffy again, and the phone rang. "I should get that."

"Yeah...but that means I have to let you up, doesn't it?" Buffy tried her pout again. "Okay...but I don't have to like it."

"Hello?" Willow surprised her by just reaching behind her, and pulling up the cordless. She didn't even have to move, so Buffy just cuddled even further.

"Yes...Willow...er...I'm looking for Buffy. I'm assuming she stayed with you last night after the dance?" Giles sounded troubled. That was never good.

"Yeah. She's right here. Wanna talk to her?" Willow mouthed 'Giles' to the blonde, who just shrugged, and snuggled further. She was too comfortable. Only an apocalypse could make her move.

"No, that's quite alright. I received the Pergamum in the mail today, and I'm afraid there's some troubling news. I'd rather talk to you about this before anything is mentioned to Buffy." Giles had been at it all morning. Faith had just stayed out of his way, for which he was grateful.

"Sure thing, Giles. Just...um..."

"Take your time, Willow. I'm sure the two of you are exhausted." Giles cleared his throat. "I do believe I can trust you not to do anything that might disrupt the mating ritual."

"Of course, Giles. No hanky-panky..." Willow chuckled at Buffy's shocked expression. It was too cute. "See you later."

"I can't believe you told Giles that. He's probably cleaning his glasses from here to next week." Buffy let Willow put the phone back in its cradle before straddling the redhead. "So...about this date...where you gonna take me?"

"Now...that would ruin the surprise..." Willow was worried about Giles. He'd sounded exhausted himself, which meant that he'd been working double time. This news couldn't be good.

"What did Giles wanna talk to you about that I couldn't hear yet?" Buffy was sitting on Willow's thighs, their hips locked together, and certain parts rubbing. It was very distracting.

"How did...oh, right...super slayer hearing. He probably didn't think you were right here. I'm not sure. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, though. Probably just something on the Master, or how to kill him. No biggie." Willow held Buffy's hips in place. The way the blonde was wriggling was VERY distracting. "Want pancakes?"

"You cook, too?" Buffy started wriggling again, and Willow's grip just didn't keep her at bay. Willow was afraid she'd orgasm just from the wriggling.

"Sure...it's just a matter of whether or not I have the stuff to make them." Willow sat up, and had Buffy dismount. She had to do something, or she'd explode on contact.

The two went about making breakfast, which ended up being bagels and coffee. Neither minded, though...just as long as they were together.

"What's the dire, Giles?" Willow walked Buffy back home...which wasn't but two steps to the left. It was time to talk to Giles about the book.

"I'm afraid I've uncovered something that I'm not sure I'm ready for quite yet. Prophecies are always right, though. There's no way of getting around it. I've tried to find loopholes but I'm afraid there's not..." Giles was about out of his mind.

"Calm down. Tell me." Willow wasn't sure she wanted to know now.
"If Buffy faces the Master..." Giles made sure that Willow was looking at him. "...she will die."

"What? No...no...check again. The books are lying." Now she wished she didn't know. "Keep working, find a loophole!"

"There's not a loophole, Willow. I'm sorry. Tomorrow night, Buffy will..."

"Tomorrow? No...not tomorrow. That's too soon. We haven't even done the ritual yet! Buffy and I haven't mated! This isn't fair! Take it back." Willow was in hysterics. She tried coming up w/ a spell that would kill the Master without Buffy having to go near him...but all of her vamp dusting spells would require them to be in close contact. She couldn't let Buffy die. Not now...not now that she knew...that she was in love with Buffy.

"I'm sorry, Willow. Tomorrow night the Master will rise, and Buffy is our only hope of preventing the Hellmouth from opening. This is our cause. We lost warriors all the time." Giles didn't mean that. He didn't want Buffy to die, either. Not his daughter...

"Mating ritual. We can up the mating ritual...then she won't have to worry about the pains in her stomach when she's fighting them. That's probably how the Master will kill her...when she's keeled over in pain from slayer heat. He'll probably smell it, and it'll make him stronger somehow." Willow was at her wits end. They would work extra hard. They would come up with a solution to prevent the Master from rising where Buffy wasn't involved.

"Willow, please calm down. Overreacting will only make this worse." Giles wanted to hit something. She was too young to die.

"How can I calm down? You're telling me that Buffy's gonna die before I have a chance to do what I was sent here to do!" Willow didn't mean to yell.

"What you were sent here to do?" Buffy had been listening to the conversation on the other end of her bedroom door. She wanted to know what the hubbub was about. Now, she wished she didn't. "You have been. You've been helping me, us...you don't have to worry."

"Buffy." Giles should've known better. This news was putting him in a wild state, and he had completely forgotten about super slayer hearing. Damn...he didn't want Buffy to find out this way. He wanted to ease her into it.

"So...I'm gonna die. That's...um...new." Buffy wanted to ignore the facts. One day...one day wasn't nearly enough time with Willow. She wanted more. She needed more. Her cramps started to act up really bad again, and she had to sit down.

"Let me get you some water." Willow left watcher and slayer alone. They needed to talk.
"I wish there were another way but prophecies are never thwarted." Giles sat down next to her, knowing that Willow had left them be for a minute.

"I don't wanna die, Giles. I just found her." Buffy wanted to cry but she was too in shock. She could sense Faith doing the eavesdropping thing but she didn't even feel like yelling at her to go away.

"I realize that. This is hard on all of us...but I'm afraid there's no choice in the matter. Tomorrow night, you will face the Master, and you will die." Giles still wanted to punch something...even moreso now that he saw Buffy's face fall in tears. "I'm so sorry, Buffy."

"It's not everyday a person gets a heads up about their departure date." Buffy fell into Giles's arms. Arms that comforted her through many scraped knees, bad school days, first heartbreak, and now eventual death.

"No, I suppose not...but then again, you've always been different from the rest." Giles smiled a little. A wan smile. "You've always been extraordinary, Buffy. No father could be prouder."

"Oh, Giles..." Buffy wanted to curl up in his arms like she had when she was three, after she saw her first real vampire. Now, she was curled into them...preparing to see her last vampire...the vampire that would kill her.
