And You Know It's No Fun

Chapter 4

[reviews]

I can hear the song "Wonderwall" playing faintly through the closed door. I find it a little strange, although I can't shake the sinking feeling in my gut. I open the bedroom door with my book bag still slung over my shoulder. I stop, a little surprised to see Buffy lying on my bed, feet crossed, reading over the booklet to my Oasis CD. She lifts her eyes to me with a guilty smile playing on her face.

"Sorry. It's just that I was sort of looking around and found your CD collection. Mom wouldn't let me buy...well, anything, really so I was curious as to what you had. I found the lyrics to this song intriguing, so I hope you don't mind," Buffy says, waving an arm at the boom box on the floor. I shake my head, afraid that if I say anything, she'll just come right out with the dumping. She eyes me with concern. Clearly I'm not exactly being subtle with my feelings right now. "What's wrong?" Buffy asks, tossing the booklet onto the bed, and quickly rising to her feet. I notice she can move her arm a bit, even go so far as to bend it now.

"Nothing. What could be wrong?" I ask, a little too excitedly in my attempt to cover up the inner turmoil. Buffy frowns, taking a step closer. I feel the bag slip from my shoulder and smack against the floor. I instantly wrap both arms around my waist, just wanting the axe to fall already.

"Will?" Buffy asks, worry flooding her features. I wring my hands together, eyes gazing at the floor now.

"You're going to dump me," I exclaim quietly. It is the truth. Who wants to have me after knowing I cheated on my last girlfriend just to be apart of a popular group? I hear Buffy's gasp. Guess I hit too close.

"What? Will, I don't want to dump you," Buffy replies, clearly startled at my exclamation. I lift my eyes to hers, not daring to believe what she's just told me. She's looking at me with fear now.

"B-but I'm a miserable girlfriend. How can you stand to be with somebody that...shallow?" I ask, echoing the words that Cordelia had said earlier that afternoon. Buffy shakes her head, grabbing my arm with her hand, and leading me to the bed. She takes a seat, tugging me down onto the bed as well.

"You're anything but shallow, Will. What happened, wasn't the best thing to do given the situation, however I trust you. You saved me, remember?" Buffy asks, a soft smile appearing in front of me. I give her a small smile but I still don't feel that satisfied.

"Okay, one decent thing. What else have I done though?" I ask, clearly not ready to give up on my self-suffering. Buffy glares at me and I am a little taken aback. She rises to her feet, stabbing a finger at me.

"You want to go guilt trip, fine, Willow, but don't you ever trivialize what you did for me. Don't you ever! You and I both know it's not something that can be pushed aside as a meaningless feat. God, to even think it wasn't important..." Buffy whispers, horrified that I would think that. Oh, God. I quickly stand up.

"I didn't mean to...it's just...I know how important it is to you, Buffy. I don't even know why I'm trying to make you hate me so much. I love you and don't want to lose you. I'm sorry, Buffy. I was so sure that what I did would drive you away like it did to any girl I talked to before," I murmur, feeling so stupid right now. Buffy sighs, taking a few steps forward, and hugging me tight.

"I love you, Will. No matter what you've done in the past or will do in the future, I'll always love you. I'm sure we'll have our rocky moments, but you're my uh...damsel in shining armor. That wipes out anything you've ever done," Buffy whispers into my ear, kissing my neck softly. I let out a low moan, enjoying the kisses.

"Including reading your diary?" I ask with a devilish smirk forming even amidst the kissing. Buffy pulls away in shock, but then fixes me with a devilish smile of her own when she realizes I was only teasing.

"Not funny. I've heard that tickling can lead to laughter though," Buffy growls. My eyes widen, knowing I have no chance anyway. I squeal and turn, leaping for the bed but Buffy catches me by the ribs, starting to tickle me. I squirm, trying to get away with no success.

"Buffy!" I cry, falling off the bed with an audible thump. Buffy gasps and peers down over the edge of the bed at my fallen shape. I giggle up at her as she rolls her eyes at me, sticking her tongue out in the process.

"Good idea," I growl, rising to my feet, and kissing Buffy hard. I climb onto the bed, hands rising up the back of her shirt. Buffy moans into my mouth. I break the kiss off, quickly throwing my shirt off. I press Buffy down onto the bed much to her mixed surprise and delight. I give her a feral grin. I help her out of her shirt and pants, quickly reclaiming her lips with my own.

"Oh, God," Buffy murmurs as I begin traveling my kisses down from her neck to her stomach but pause, leaning back up, and just straddling her. Buffy looks up at me with need but also curiosity. "What?" she whines up at me. I laugh, smiling down at her.

"Are we ready?" I ask, not sure why I'm suddenly worried about the morality of our actions. Buffy groans, clearly aroused, but now showing annoyance. I shrug my shoulders in response as a way of telling her I have no idea why I stopped either.

"Just kiss me. We'll go over the morals and ethics tomorrow morning," Buffy growls. I smirk down at her as she moves her hands to my hips. I still have my blue jeans and bra on. She unbuttons the front, lowering the zipper. I watch her hand, slightly fascinated at the moment that us could soon be reality. I lean back down, capturing a hardened nipple with my teeth. For a flash, I'm aware that "Wonderwall" was stuck on repeat. The words mingling together with Buffy's cries to create a new harmony in my head.

I groan, trying to shift my arms before remembering that a redhead has her arm wrapped around my waist, making it pretty hard to move without waking her. I roll over as gently as I can, only to be met by green blinking eyes and a yawning mouth. I smile, kissing Willow on the tip of her nose. She wrinkles her nose in an even cuter manner after the kiss.

"Sleepyhead," I giggle. Willow gives me a sleepy pout, clearly not wide-awake yet. She snuggles back against me, apparently content with just being next to me. She rests her cheek on my shoulder and smiles.

"I don't think I'm up for the morals and ethics talk. I'll just confine myself to marveling at your ability," Willow mumbles. I smile back at her. She closes her eyes as I slowly slide out of bed, knowing there's no way I'm getting back to sleep now. I grab a towel, a bra, panties, and a bathrobe as I head towards the shower, listening to Willow mumble something about footstools and dinosaurs.

Giles is wearing somber face as we enter. I finally forced myself up with twenty minutes to spare to take a shower, grab breakfast, and do every other morning preparation routine known to man. To say I don't look one hundred percent would be fair. Buffy smirks at me, clearly still laughing internally at the fact that my hair's still wet. I didn't have time to blow dry. Giles glances at me in a confused manner, eyes trained on my hair. I roll my eyes as Buffy takes a seat at the table.

"I was a little rushed this morning. I think a dose of fatigue was the problem," I explain, grinning at Buffy with the way I worked in our action. She smiles back at me, a bit of a blush making her cheeks red. I take a seat next to her as Giles turns to us.

"We're in trouble," Giles comments. I glance at Buffy in confusion. I turn back to Giles with an eyebrow arched.

"Uh, trouble?" I ask, wanting an explanation for what's about to come or whatever. Giles glances back at me, then at Buffy with a sad expression.

"It's about Buffy. More specifically, a prophecy that was written ages ago that I just recently managed to translate to English. It says that in two days, the Slayer will die at the hands of an unholy one," Giles states with seriousness. I frown, wondering whom this unholy one is. It's not like the normal vampires have posed a great threat to Buffy. Oh, except for that time when the skinny gymnast guy almost impaled her with her own stake. That was only the third vampire she had ever faced though...

"As if," Buffy retorts, shaking her head. Giles sighs, running a hand through his hair to try and hide his anger.

"It's not that simple, Buffy. This is a prophecy in a book of them and none have ever failed to transpire...except for those two times...but this is important," Giles states. Wait, two failed? I sit up a little straighter, finding this information valuable.

"You said two didn't happen?" I ask. Giles looks at me, knowing that I'm not going to walk away from this empty handed.

"The first one referred to The uh, Master, the supreme vampire. He was said to have tried to open the Hellmouth in 1897 and apparently succeeded. Unfortunately, a volcano erupted, promptly killing him. A few gypsies managed to seal the Hellmouth again, however most of the demons that escaped were never killed. They flocked to various parts of the world. The second prophecy was supposedly the arrival of a vampire called the Angelic one. He was said to arrive to Sunnydale in 1955, however he never showed up. He was last seen in Los Angeles at the Hyperion Hotel where he was hanged as part of a mob lynching. This vampire vanished afterwards and hasn't been seen since," Giles explains. Interesting, right? I look at Buffy who takes a hand in mine.

"Is there anything else you can tell us?" Buffy asks Giles. He takes his glasses off, starting to shake his head, but he pauses, and looks back at us in a moment of clarity. He taps an index finger at us.

"Erm, hold on a minute," he says, racing into his office. We hear the sounds of shuffling pages before he dashes back out, book in hand, and a bit of a smile on his face. I find the smile a little uneasy. "The vampire who's rumored to be the unholy one is named Drusilla. She was apparently driven mad by the Angelic one. Her family was slaughtered in gruesome manners. She's a seer it seems," Giles says, resting the book on the table in front of us. I grab the book, scanning over the page.

"It says here that she received visions...oh, seer, right...a-and it says that she travels with a companion?" I ask, glancing up at Giles. He gives me an apologetic smile.

"Y-yes, sorry. Spike, also known as William the Bloody in his early days, was a well-known associate, and some say love, of Drusilla's. He was staked by a girl named Leslie Duvall up in Sheffield, England around 1986 if my sources are correct," Giles recounts. Buffy nods her head, giving me a soft smile. Well, good to know that we won't be encountering two vampires now. Buffy glances over my shoulder and grips my shoulder hard. I wince, glaring at her, but her focus is still past me. I look to where she's looking and toss the book onto the table. I rise to my feet with a low growl in my throat. I ball both fists and start to stalk forward but Giles stops me with an outstretched arm.

"What a helpful man, Principal Flutie is," Joyce says in a sugary sweet voice. She glares at us, arms crossed in front of her chest.
