Part ten

Willow looked at her watch, she had been in the game's room for over an hour.

Taking a chance, she opened the door and peaked through it. Not being able to hear anything, she ventured out and moved slowly along the hall, looking for Buffy.

Finally after searching the entire lower floor, she looked upstairs.

Hesitating, she started up them.

At the top, she frowned, not sure where to go. Shrugging, she picked the right side and began searching the rooms for Buffy, wondering why one person needed so much space.

After finding nothing on the right side of the house, she moved to the left.

Finally, she heard sounds of life and followed it.

She blushed when she realised she was in Buffy's bedroom. Seeing the opened door, and praying to god it wasn't the bathroom, she ventured in.

When she saw Buffy standing in front of a canvass, wearing tiny shorts and a tank top, covered in paint, she gulped.

"Hey."

Buffy jumped and dropped her paint brush before spinning around.

When she saw Willow, her eyes widened.

"God I'm sorry, I forgot you were here, and when Mrs Gibbs left, all I wanted to do was to mind off things, and this is what I do when I want to take my mind off of things."

Willow half smiled and looked over the room. It was large, and filled with paintings.

"These are really good."

Buffy smiled and turned back to her paints, picking up her dropped brush and washing the paint off it so it wouldn't dry out.

"Thank you."

Willow wondered around the room, looking over each painting.

"So, what did she say?"

Buffy looked up from her place on the floor as she was tiding her mess up.

"Mrs Gibbs?"

Willow nodded and stopped by a painting of a man and woman, their faces the picture of happiness.

Buffy saw where she had stopped and looked away.

"She told me she believed me, and that she was going to try and talk to Faith."

Willow turned, a smile of her face.

"That's excellent."

Buffy half smiled and finished what she was doing when Willow turned back to the painting.

Looking over the woman, Willow gasped when she saw the same hazel eyes that belonged to Buffy.

Looking at the man, she could see his daughter in him so clearly, and her heart went out to the blonde.

"They looked happy."

Buffy came to stand beside her and reached out to touch her mothers smiling face.

"They were. I painted it from a photograph. This was the day they found out my mom was expecting me."

Willow turned to see tears in Buffy's eyes.

Reaching out, she rested her hand on the blonde shoulder, not knowing what to say.

"What age were you when you painted it?"

Buffy smiled and pictured the look on her Grandmothers face when she had first saw it.

"I was fourteen."

Willow's eyes widened.

Buffy snapped out of it and turned to Willow.

"You should really go home."

Willow nodded her head, but made no move to do so.

Not able to stop herself, her hand reached out and brushed some hair off Buffy's face.

Buffy's eyes closed at the soft touch and she turned her head, pressing her face into Willow's palm.

"Really... you should go."

Willow unconsciously stoked Buffy's cheekbone, causing the blonde to shiver.

"Should... go."

They drifted closed, and before Buffy knew it, she found out that Willow's lips were as soft as she thought they would be.

Willow groaned, it went beyond anything she imagined her first real kiss to be, and the loss of it caused her to whimper.

They both stared wide eyed at the other before Willow swooped back in, wanting another taste of Buffy's lips.

When Buffy felt Willow's tongue tenderly stroking her lower lips, she gasped, her mouth opening for the redhead's tongue.

If Willow thought the kiss before was mind-blowing, she was wrong, this surpassed that.

Their tongue met and tangled like they had done so for years.

Buffy reached up, threading a hand through Willow's hair and pulled the redhead closer, moaning when their bodies touched.

When she felt Willow's hand stroking her back, Buffy arched, bringing them closer.

It wasn't until she felt that hand slide down a little to rest at the top of her ass, that she pulled back, her eyes widening when she realised what they were doing, what she was doing.

"Oh God." Buffy's hand rose to her mouth as she backed away from Willow.

Willow reached out to pull her back, but Buffy kept backing away.

"Buffy..."

Buffy shook her head to clear it from the lust that was rushing through her.

"Go... please, just... go."

Willow's face showed her hurt, but she pushed past Buffy and bolted out of the room, down the stairs and out the front door.

Buffy stood frozen to the spot, even as she heard the front door slam closed.

"Oh god."

'she's a good kisser' was playing at the back of her mind.

-----

Tears blurred Willow's vision as she drove through Sunnydale.

She had made a fool out of herself. She had thought Buffy wanted the kiss, she had sure reacted to it, so why had she stopped?

Willow wiped at her eyes, but the tears kept coming.

She was so embarrassed. How was she supposed to face Buffy at school?

As she reached up to wipe her tears away again, Willow didn't see the truck coming towards her.

She felt it though when it crashed into the passenger side of Cordy's car.

Her head bounced off the airbag and hit the back of the seat, catching on the seatbelt hook. The last thing she felt before darkness took her, was blood running down from her temple, and a sharp pain in her head.

-----

Buffy paced for a full five minutes after Willow left, knowing she had handled things very badly.

Grabbing a pair so sweats, she pulled them on and grabbed her sneakers and her car keys.

Pulling out of her drive, she went in the direction Willow would have had to go in, hoping to catch up with the girl and explain things to her.

Pushing the peddle on her car, she sped up, hoping that there were no cops near her.

Finally, she spotted Cordy's car up ahead and sped up a little.

Buffy watched as if in slow motion as a truck came barrelling through a cross section, and her heart was in her throat when it smashed into the car Willow was driving.

When Buffy was aware of sound again, she heard screaming, it took a second for her to realise it was her.

Speeding up, she stopped her car and jumped out, running straight to Willow's side.

When she saw the blood, Buffy panicked.

Running back to her car, she grabbed her cell and dialled 911.

-----

Willow woke up in pain and cried out. When she felt someone take her hand, she opened her eyes to see her mom and dad.

"W...he..r..."

Willow's mother stroked the hair back from her face, avoiding the bandage around her daughters head.

"Schuss honey, don't talk. Your in the hospital, your going to be fine."

Willow sighed as darkness took her again, never seeing the third person in the room.

Buffy wiped the tears from her eyes and turned to Willow's parents.

"I'm gonna go and give Xander a ring."

They nodded and turned back to their daughter, fighting their own tears.

"Thank you. I'm glad my daughter has such good friends."

Buffy swallowed her guilt and left the room after taking one more look at Willow.

Walking down to the pay phones, Buffy tried to remember the number Anya had given her for Xander, but she couldn't.

Picking up the phone, she dialled the school and asked to speak to Giles.

"Giles its Buffy... their was an accident... no I'm fine, it was Willow... could you get Xander Harris down to the hospital, her parents are with her now, but I know he would want to be... car accident... the doctors think she'll be fine... okay, thank you Giles."

Buffy hung up and sank into one of the hard plastic hospital chairs.

Putting her head in her head, she let the tears fall again.

'this is all my fault'
