Part six

Buffy stared at the woman before her for a full minute before bursting into laughter, even though it hurt to do so.

Walsh scowled and looked at Forrest.

"Shut it up."

Forrest smiled and moved forward, punching Buffy on her already sore mouth.

Buffy's head whipped back, but she held in her cry of pain even as she tasted the blood welling in her mouth.

"What is so funny?"

Buffy sobered up and smirked as well as she could.

"You know who I am, you know who my family are, and you think I will be accommodating without a soul? Lady, its lucky your surrounded by people in white coats."

Forrest lashed out with his right foot, but Buffy saw it coming and caught it.

"Just because I may look weak, doesn't mean I am boy," glaring, she pushed him back, not showing how much effort it took to do so.

Forrest glared, embarrassed and went to lash out yet again.

"Enough."

He stepped back and stood to attention.

Buffy rolled her eyes at the soldier and concentrated on the real threat - the doctor.

-----

Giles looked up when his door burst open to reveal five smoking vamps.

"You know, it would be better for your health if you refrained from travelling during the day."

Everyone but Willow rolled their eyes. The former Slayer had missed her watchers humour.

Maybe he could join them too.

"Any word?"

They filled him in on what happen earlier, and he agreed with Angelus, though he wondered what was happening for Buffy to project her pain.

-----

Buffy paced the contours of her cage, wondering what the hell the doctor thought she was up to. What did they even want with her?

Hearing a commotion down the corridor, Buffy pressed herself as close to the glass as she could without getting electrocuted, to see two soldiers fighting a demon that had somehow escaped his cage.

She watched closely, looking for any weaknesses she could use to her own advantage.

Buffy knew her family were in town, she could feel them through the bond shared with them all, and wondered if they had found a way to get her out yet.

Chances are that they hadn't because she was still staring at white walls.

Two soldiers became six and still the demon fought on.

Buffy watched the soldiers, and finally spotted something she could use.

They fought well, but they repeated their moves like a dance. One step kick, two step punch.

They must have all taken the same class.

-----

Willow sighed as she walked around her old town. Everything seemed so small.

The Vampire turned when she felt something tug at her, thinking one of her family was near.

Turns out it was family, just not of the undead variety.

"Hello mother."

-----

Looking around his living room, Giles sighed. He knew, that under different circumstances, that the humans in the room would be dead in seconds. The demons before him were anything but merciful, no matter how Gunn had acted when his Slayer have been breathing.

All the Vampire's had returned bar Willow. They had each taken a section of the town to search, hoping to find some clue as to where the soldiers had taken Buffy.

He didn't know why they insisted on using his home as a base, it wasn't like they had anything to research.

-----

"Willow." Joyce kept a safe distance from her daughter, her dead daughter whom she hadn't seen since she was carried out of the mansion, so many months ago.

Willow had no real feelings for the woman before her. As a human, she had loved her, but now, she didn't factor in to Willow's new life.

The only reason Willow was not ripping her throat out, was because of Gunn.

Her 'brother' had formed a friendship with her mother, and out of respect to him, she was off limits.

"How have you been?"

Willow was about to answer, when something caught her eye.

"Do me a favour, run back to Giles and tell Angelus and the others to meet me here."

Watching the man in army clothes cross the street, Willow narrowed her eyes.

Could he be one of the soldiers that took Buffy.

When Joyce didn't move right away, Willow turned and growled at her.

"Now would be good."

-----

Buffy groaned as she came to. She was strapped to a trolley bed again, and was hooked up to over a dozen machines.

Her clenched fist was locked tight, even when she was unconscious, so they couldn't take her two incisor fangs, like they had tried to.

Forrest had even tried cutting her hand open, but Walsh had stopped him when Buffy refused to budge. It didn't matter that she had deep knife wounds in her hand.

Taking a mental tally of herself, her eyes widened.

She didn't know how the bitch did it, but she was currently lacking a soul once more.

-----

Walsh smiled from the observation room, watching the demon inside.

It had taken a lot of persuasion, but she had finally been given the go ahead to use the Sharman on the Vampire.

According to him, the Vampire's soul was locked down tight, and it had taken strong magic's to release it.

The stronger the magic, the more money he had to be paid.

The big wigs had expressed the need for this to go smoothly, and if it did, which Walsh was sure it would, they would have a vicious, mindless, controllable assassin.

-----

Buffy couldn't stop smirking. The removal of her soul was almost enough to thank the bitch, but it didn't mean that as soon as she could, Buffy wasn't going to drain her dry.

She was weak, in agony and hungry, but she had a bounce in her step as she was frog marched back to her cage.

The demons in the surrounding cages must have sensed the change in the Vampire they knew by reputation. They knew, that now she was back to herself, the Initiative would burn.

One by one, they began stomping their feet as she walked past.

Buffy smirked. She was finally who she was supposed to be again.

She couldn't wait to see Willow. To hunt with her, and train her properly, the way only a Sire could.

-----

Willow scowled as she waited for her family to arrive. Luckily, the soldier was still in the coffee shop, chatting to some blonde girl Willow vaguely recognised.

Hearing the rush of feet, she turned and sighed when she saw her 'brothers' running towards her.

Nodding her head in the direction of the coffee shop, she smiled.

"Looks like we could have found one."

Now all they had to do was wait for him to lead them to their base.

Then, after they had Buffy back, it would burn.
