Part ten - LET THE LESSONS BEGIN

Buffy scowled as she left Snape's class. That man was worse than Snyder ever was.

"Where's a giant snake when you need one?"

Harry, Ron and Hermione all stopped and looked at Buffy, their mouths hanging open, remembering the last time they had a giant snake to deal with.

"What?" Buffy looked from their open mouth to Willow's smirking face.

The redhead shrugged and threaded her hand into Buffy's.

"Lets go, you have a class to teach us."

Buffy groaned and let her girlfriend pulled her along, unaware of the eyes watching her.

-----

Buffy groaned as she watched all the students pile in.

Finally when everyone had a seat on the floor at the back, she motioned for Angel to start.

He scowled at her, but stood up non the less.

"Okay, I'm Angel, that is Buffy. This class is designed to teach you how to protect yourself from a non magical attack."

He stopped and stepped back, making Buffy take centre stage.

She looked at the faces, pausing on her friends, before moving on.

"Okay, who wants to volunteer first?"

The plan was for Willow, Xander, Cordy, Harry, Ron or Hermione to stand up, no-one expected Draco to.

Buffy nodded at him, and stepped back.

"Okay, attack me."

She saw him frown, before she saw him move.

Easily, she stopped him, earning smiles from the Gryffindors of the group.

"Okay, now, what did he do wrong?"

Buffy was still holding him, one arm up behind his back. She waited a second, then let him go, please that he took his seat quietly, with only a mumble at Harry which she couldn't make out.

Looking back to Angel, knowing that he could hear, she saw him shake his head that it was nothing sinister.

The class progressed smoothly, Giles entering halfway through to check up on Buffy.

"How about we let my Watcher speak for a little."

Buffy grinned and took a seat, letting Giles take the class for a while.

Angel grinned and sat beside the Slayer, happy to let the focus be on someone else for a while.

Giles was fired questions left and right, everyone wanting to know what was real and what wasn't about the Slayer, but all of the, barring Willow and the others, beings too afraid to ask.

-----

Buffy was alone for a change, the others all being in the common room.

She had gotten restless, and figured that a patrol around the school grounds would keep her occupied.

She hadn't expected to see Draco sitting under a tree, a torch in one hand, and a book in the other.

"Hey."

He jumped, and stashed the book underneath himself.

"Oh, its you. I thought for a second it was a real teacher."

Buffy ignored that and sat down beside him.

"What are you doing out this late? Isn't it against the rules?"

Draco scowled and shot her a look.

"What about you?"

Buffy shrugged.

"I'm part teacher, part student. Plus I'm the Slayer. I need to be out a night."

He didn't say anything to that.

"What were you reading?"

He scowled again.

"Its none of your business."

Buffy sighed, tired of the attitude.

"Fine." She stood up and walked a few feet away.

"Ya know, the others warned me about you. I honestly thought that they were wrong about you. Guess I was wrong."

Draco stopped her as she went to leave.

"Why did you think that?"

Buffy turned, a smile on her face.

"Because, even the best of us are assholes in high school. I know I was. But I changed, I don't see why you couldn't."

-----

Willow was sitting in a corner with Hermione when Buffy got back.

Ignoring everyone in the room but her, she walked up and smacked a wet kiss to her lovers lips.

"Hey baby."

Willow blushed, even as she returned Buffy's kiss.

"Hey back. How was patrol?"

Buffy smiled as Hermione moved over to make space for her.

"Boring. The only person I ran into wasn't in the mood for talking, or fighting." Buffy pouted.

Willow smiled and nodded to Xander, who had just came in.

"Well then, the surprise that Giles and Xander whipped up for you should help."

Buffy's face lit up.

"What is it?"

Willow shook her head, and Impish look on her face.

"Not telling."

Buffy pouted some more.
