A/N: Don't worry...the B/W stuff will happen. It's just more boring if you throw them together immediately. They have to overcome lots of obstacles for me.

----------------------------------

Date night. Usually one of the best nights of the week but lately, it'd been a toss-up to Willow's mood. Ever since Buffy returned, it was like the redhead was a completely different person. She was hot, then cold. Cuddly, then distant. It was as though she had something on her mind that was important but she was afraid of it one minute, and tackling it the next. Fred just couldn't figure out her girlfriend lately.

Tonight, they'd gone to dinner and rented some movies. Willow's parents were out of town again, so it was logical that they'd have more alone time there. Halfway through the first movie, the redhead decided to start nibbling on Fred's neck. The brunette gave up on the movie once Willow reached that apex behind her ear. It built from there.

"Willow, hold on..." Fred had to move her mouth so she wouldn't be tempted. "What are you doing?"

"Making it easier..." Willow was blushing from head to toe, as she looked at her girlfriend's dazed face.

"Yeah...but..." Fred was shocked when Willow unbuttoned her pants, and even more baffled when the redhead snuck her hand down said pants.

"I just wanted you to know...that I'm ready...to do that...with you..." Willow was hurt when Fred pulled her hand from her pants. She was being rejected, after all that mental debate she'd gone through these past few weeks. "Do you not want..."

"No, no...I do...I just don't think this is what you really want." Fred could tell something was bothering her girlfriend but she highly doubted it was a debate on sex.

"How can you say that? I was the one that initiated..." Willow huffed back, feeling ridiculous.

"Yeah, I know, sweetie...but you've not been all there lately. I never know if I'm coming or going with you anymore, and now, you just wanna have sex?" Fred sighed before halting Willow from bolting. "Look, I want to...believe me...it's just...something's wrong, and you're not telling me what, and it just makes me feel like you're wanting to do this to forget about something, instead of doin' it for us."

"I'm sorry. I know I've not been a great girlfriend lately but that doesn't mean I don't love you." Willow unstraddled Fred finally, and pulled her shirt back together. "I don't mean to be a poopyhead."

"I just don't think you're doing it for the right reasons. That's all. I know you love me. Just...talk to me. Tell me what's bothering you." Fred took a deep breath, and watched as Willow struggled to find the words.

"I don't know. It's just...the reason Buffy ran away...well, she and Angel...had done that, and...well..." Willow was loaded with thoughts but the words weren't catching up. The mental image of Buffy letting Angel touch her that way flooded her mind, and the redhead closed up again. "Okay, you're right. I'm not doing this for all the right reasons but I still wanna...ya know...with you..."

"Will, I know that, and it'll happen. I promise. Just...don't feel pressured to hurry up just because your friends have already had sex. When the time is right, it will be perfect." Fred kissed Willow's forehead, and lips before fixing her shirt. "Don't hold things back from me. I can take it."

"I know." Willow sighed and relaxed. How would Fred react if she found out about her true feelings for Buffy? That the reason for all this wasn't because her friends were having sex but because Buffy, HER Buffy had sex with somebody that wasn't her.

----------------

Willow handcuffed her to the bed before leaving her sprawled and naked. The tight leather against the redhead's body showed off her womanly parts better than those baggy clothes and overalls she hid under all the time. Now, she was a woman...all woman, at that. Her boobs were almost popping out, ripe for the taste. It was bound to happen eventually. They both knew that. The passion was too strong to ignore; their need to play this game overwhelming.

"Count." Willow had her head poised against Buffy's bare body. It wasn't a count for pain but for pleasure. Count the orgasms.

"One, Mistress Willow." Buffy screamed in pleasure. The look of pure ecstasy across her face. "Two, Mistress Willow!"

"Three, Mistress Willow..." Xander mumbled, as he started to rise from sleep. He'd stayed the night at Cordelia's, and found himself hard from his erotic dream. Mistress Willow? The redhead with boobs? Buffy naked and tied to the bed? Willow and Buffy together? "Man, what a dream..."

"Huh?" Cordy rolled over, content to just lie there in Xander's warm arms. Thank the gods her parents were out of town for the weekend. This was exactly what they needed; a nice weekend, just the two of them. No more Buffy or Willow to constantly dredge on, or complain about. It was all about her for a change, something it took months to train Xander to do. He was a pro now.

"Nothing. Go back to sleep." He gulped big time. It was the sexiest dream he'd ever had, and if Willow and Buffy being together was anything like that...far be it from him to stop them. He'd tell Willow first thing tomorrow at school.

---------------

This was all too confusing. Two months since she tried to sleep with Fred, and nothing happened yet. Now, Xander drops this bomb. He's okay with her and Buffy now? Matter of fact, he was so enthusiastic about the idea that he was more animated than usual. How dare he! Why now? She's with Fred, and things are going great! She and Buffy were just starting to build a strong bond again, and now Xander drops this bomb. It's all she's been able to think about all day, and now she's supposed to meet with Buffy to study tonight. She won't be able to look her in the eye now.

"Hey...big thoughts?" Fred smiled at her girlfriend, who looked ready to pop a blood vessel.

"Oh...sorry. Kinda. It's just that tonight is the first time Buffy and I are going to be alone for a long time." Willow went back to her thoughts.

"You've been alone before, silly. Are you worried about what to say?" Fred was so blissfully unaware, despite her massive genius.

"Oh...um...yeah." The bell rang, and Willow hopped up from their table. They walked to their lockers, and the redhead walked Fred home before detouring to Buffy's house. "I'll call you later, okay?"

"More than okay." Fred was worried. Willow had barely said two words all day, lost in her own world again. "You sure you're okay? Do you need me to go with you?"

"NO!" Willow calmed down, and forced a smile. "Sorry...no. It'll be okay. I'm just nervous is all."

"No need to be nervous. You're best friends. You need this time together, okay? Go have fun." Fred gave Willow a kiss before letting the redhead head that direction. "I'll be home after nine tonight. Don't forget that call..."

"I won't." Willow gave Fred one last kiss before watching her girlfriend walk in the door. "What am I gonna do now?"

She had a little time to ponder that, as she started towards Buffy's house. It'd been a long time since she'd been here. She was worried that Ms. Summers wouldn't welcome her, or remember who she was anymore. Buffy answered the door, and ushered the redhead inside. It was going to be great to get together like this. It was exactly what they needed. If they were going to move on as friends, then they had to make the effort.

After studying a few hours, they ate dinner, and still Willow was silent and distant, blushing randomly. Buffy was worried something might be wrong, or that maybe they shouldn't have studied up in her room but it was innocent enough. Right? She'd accidentally brushed her foot against Willow's once, and it was pure accident. Nothing to go all silent treatment over. Once dinner was finished, they helped Ms. Summers with the dishes before retreating back to Buffy's room.

"Xander wants us to date now." Willow had been debating whether or not to even say anything. She just blurted it out.

"What?" Buffy was shocked. It was more from the words than the actual fact that Willow talked after being contemplative for so long. "I mean...he does?"

"I don't know why the sudden change of heart, and it's not like something can happen. I love Fred, and I'm still with her, and I'm not going to do anything to mess that up, and I look at you, and I can't help but wonder if you still kiss the same way, and now knowing that we can, I don't know what to do, and it's so confusing. I just...I just..." Willow crashed on the bed in a dramatic gesture. "Sorry for the drama."

"It's not your fault. We wouldn't even be having this conversation if Xander wasn't such an asshole in the first place. He's a good friend, as long as it's all about him. He and Cordy are perfect for each other." Buffy sat down on the bed beside Willow's sprawled body. "We shouldn't have needed permission. We should've just talked to him together. I see that now. We could've done so many things differently...but you're right. You're with Fred now, and no matter how much I've wanted to hear you say that we can be together, I'm not going to let you ruin what you have with Fred. I would be a terrible friend if I did."

"Oh, Buffy..." Willow jolted upright, and wrapped the blonde in a tight hold. "It's so confusing. I'm so confused."

"I know." Buffy wrapped her arms around the redhead and squeezed lightly. "I love you, Willow. That'll never change."

"I love you, too..." Willow was shocked that she'd said that out loud. She had a hard time with that word, not hearing it enough growing up, afraid of what would happen if she said it out loud. Buffy was still here, though. The bad part? She'd never even said those words to Fred, her actual girlfriend.
