Chapter Ten

Back at the Bronze:

"What do you think he'll do?" Willow asked, glancing up through her lashes at her blonde girlfriend as she fidgeted with the back of her neck. She seemed so innocent Buffy just wanted to hold her close and never let go. Willow glanced back down at the floor beneath them as they swayed in rhythm with the song.

"Hey, it doesn't matter what he'll do, it doesn't matter because all I need is you." Buffy said, grabbing Willow's hands to stop the nervous action. Willow smiled up at Buffy and leaned in for a light kiss.

Outside the Bronze:

"Hey, Cordy, wait up!" Xander called out to the pissed off brunette.

"No! Screw you Xander Harris!" she called back over her shoulder, not bothering to look back. He kept running, intent on catching up with her. She however, seemed to have the exact opposite goal in mind. He caught up with her just as she went to open the drivers door to her car.

"Listen Cordelia. I'm sorry." Xander said, for once not sticking his foot into his mouth all the way to his knee.

She glanced at him, squinting her eyes in disbelief. For a minute there her face went soft, revealing just how much it meant to her that he'd say such a thing. Then she squinted her eyes again "Are you serious?" she asked incredulously as she pushed him out of the way. Xander could only look on as she pulled out a stake and quickly disposed of the undead creature who was trying to sneak up on the couple.

All he could literally do was stare in amazement as she dusted off her stylish pants. She looked up at his shocked face. "What? I live in Sunnydale, do you think I don't know about vampires? Get real."

Back inside the Bronze:

Oz scanned the Bronze as The Dingo's continued their session. They were a relatively new band, but one that was definitely up-and-coming. He had been playing the guitar for years and so far it had been his only love in life. But before he knew it that was all about to change.

Buffy pulled back from her girlfriend and took a tighter grip on her hand. "Come on, let's go home." She said, keeping a hold of Willows hand, desperate for contact after the library conversation. Willow quickly let herself be led out of the loud club, not noticing the eyes of the lead guitarist on her. Buffy quickly noticed the audience, but decided to ignore it, if Willow could ignore Xander's blatant attempts to get Buffy to date him, Buffy could surely ignore a single guy. A guy who wasn't even hitting on her girl per say, just looking. But she still couldn't suppress the slight growl as she put her arm around her girlfriend's waist just a little bit more possessively.

The walk home was tense and quiet, and for the first time in nearly three weeks there was an awkward silence between them. "Look..." Buffy said, letting go of Willows hand quickly so that her hands were free for gesturing. Willow looked dismayed for a minute before Buffy swooped in and kissed her, not caring who in the world saw that Willow was hers, and she was Willows.

In the shadows across the street from the couple, a dark silhouette threw down his cigarette and sighed in frustration. "Lesbians? They had to give me lesbians? How the hell am I supposed to work with that?" He asked as he threw his hands up in a gesture of mock defeat. And after a moment, "This should be fun." he said as he rubbed his hands together and chuckled evily and slowly faded into the shadows completely.

At Sunnydale Motel across town:

"No, it didn't go according to plan." Lauren said into the phone receiver. "Well, there's not much I can do now is there?" Pause. "I'm open to suggestions." Half a minute later "That just might actually work, but can we do both spells at once?"
