Chapter Seventeen

Research felt like it was going nowhere fast. Willow had found a couple of refrences to Slayer's who had had their mates chosen for them by the council, but nothing about it having been for a very specific, or patterened for that matter, reason. Buffy had set out to work on finding the actually prophecy herself, although was having very little luck considering she didn't exactly speak more than one language. Well, she did speak more than one language, if you counted making up words a language. And Faith, well, Faith was really just sitting at the table zoning off, with an open upside down book in front of her.

Buffy sighed in frustration, and not just the kind that you get from searching for answers and finding none. She reached under the table and attempted to ignore Xander and Cordelia. Xander had been locked in the book cage for his own protection, and Cordelia was attempting to get him to come closer to the wire wall. Buffy placed her hands slowly on Willow's knee and began moving her thumb in small circles on her girfriend's thigh.

Willow kept her eyes on the pages of her book, but Buffy quickly noticed that she was no longer reading, just staring blankly at the pages, seemingly using up all of her self control not to blush. Buffy began trailing her nails up and down Willows knee, and continued reading while she slowed her ministrations nearly to a halt as she concentrated on reading. Buffy had just stopped mvoing her hand as she had come to a passage that was actually in English, when she felt Willow's fingers lace with hers and she glanced over at the smiling redhead.

Willow quickly let go of the blonde's hand as she stood up announced that she was going to the restroom. She caught Buffy's eyes with her own and quickly glanced toward the door, then back at the blonde. Buffy nodded in understanding, although thankfully they were the only ones who seemed to have caught onto the silent communication. As Willow left the room, Faith leaned further back in her chair, seeing just how well she could actually balance the four legged object on only two legs. Buffy rolled her eyes as she saw Faith get out a pack of chewing gum and start blowing bubbles as she balanced the chair, before moving on to balancing on one leg. She glanced over at Giles and saw that he was deeply engrosed in his reading, as were Amy and Tara. She waited three minutes exactly before saying she was going to go and check on Willow, to make sure she was okay of course, and then she exited the library before anyone could say anything about it at all.

Walking out in the hallway she got all of two steps before Willow flew at her and they began kissing with renewed fervor. The thought of having to give up Buffy was doing nothing to calm Willow's nerves, and nothing ever seemed to calm her better than making out with her girlfriend. Buffy pushed Willow up against a wall and began to slowly caress the other girls stomach from on top of her shirt, and just as she was about to move her hand under the fabric, the library door burst open, and Xander came running out with Cordelia chasing him. Willow laughed as she saw that Cordelia, even though she was wearing heels, managed to easily keep up with the pace Xander had set, even so much so that she was gaining on the boy.

"Xander Come Back!" They heard Amy call as she ran out on the other side of the couple, took a total of three steps, and then turned around to glance at them. "Restroom my ass." She said as she walked back into the library. The couple followed her in, both of their faces nearly matching Willow's hair color.

"Why do you say that?" Faith asked, since she hadn't actually seen the couple, she didn't know what Amy was really talking about.

"Oh, just these two out in the hallway playing tonsil hockey." she said gesturing over to the blonde and redhead with a slight tilt of her head. Buffy and Willow's blush both deepened, as Giles began cleaning his glasses yet again, and Tara just glanced up from her book to shake her head slightly before returing to her reading.

"Way to go B, scorin' at school!" Faith said, raising her hand in the air as though expecting a high five in return. Buffy just stared at her like she was from another planet as she sat down and resumed researching.

Travers glanced down at his phone book before pausing as he began to dial the number on the page opened before him. The P's weren't really all that popular, and so there was really only two pages worth of numbers in his phonebook. He sighed as he waited for the person on the other end of the line to actually pick up the phone. Finally, after what felt like an eternity but was really only five rings, the person answered.

"Peters, it's Travers. I need to call in a favor reguarding Buffy Summers."

A/N: Sorry, had to catch up, and now it's time for bed. -L.
