Chapter Sixteen

Upon entering the highschool Buffy, Willow, Giles, and Faith all heard giggling coming from the libarary entrance, where the doors were propped open. "So then," they heard Xander say, "Then, I heard him say something about never having seen someone drink an entire gallon of gatorade before, and that it was pretty damn impressive." He continued, Buffy rolled her eyes at his bragging tone.

"Wow, that is so sexy." They heard Cordelia say, and before she could stop herself Buffy burst out laughing.

"Good, they're here." Amy said as they walked into the library and Buffy got her laughing under control... kind of anyway. As soon as Giles had entered, he glanced over at Xander, who looked more than slightly dissapointed at his attempt to gross out the cheerleader. "Hey Giles, I think we might need some help." Amy called as she turned around and went back to the computer Tara was sitting at.

"Yeah Mr. Giles, I think we messed something up." Tara said off handedly.

"Messed something up?" Giles asked the girls.

"Well yeah." Tara replied as she gestured towards Xander and Cordelia, and as Giles looked Cordelia leaned in to kiss Xander, who, as soon as he realized the cheerlearder's intentions, leaned so far back that he fell off of the table and landed with a thump on the ground. As soon as he hit the ground Buffy let go all control she had managed to gain over her laughing, and Faith simply raised an eyebrow at the clumbsy boy. It was Willow who merely chuckled as she helped her long time bestfriend up. As soon as he was on his feet, Cordelia was over next to him, clutching his arm like a life saver in a hurricane, but with a bit of added rubbing that Xander and Willow both found to be slightly disconcerting.

"What happened?" Giles asked as he took off his glasses and began to rub them furiously as he awaited the girls' answer.

"Well, you see-" Amy began.

"There was this spell-" Tara took up for her, "And, well, see the effects were supposed to be something reminiscent of a friendship spell."

"Which, if I had stopped to think about it in the begining, aren't really the best spell to cast, especially with the modification we added in." Amy followed up.

"Modification?" Giles asked as he slipped his glasses back on.

"Yeah, well, see the thing is...we kind of made Cordelia want to be friends with every guy that hated her, so that she could know what all of those guys who dont have a shot with her feel like when she shoots them all down." Amy said.

"The only problem was that...Well, it seems like Xander is really the only guy in school that really hates her." Tara said.

"Which makes no sense considering all the guys she's hurt over the years, but whatever." Amy finished up.

"What in the world posessed you to cast such a spell to begin with?" He asked, astounded that the two would get up to such mischief.

Neither girl answered, they both simply shrugged in reply. "Alright, lets try and fix this. Buffy, why dont you, Willow, and Faith begin researching the prophecy while we try to sort this mess out." He more commanded than asked, but all three girls sat down with a book and began researching.

A woman in a dark robe across Sunnydale sat in a circle, surrounded by what appeard to be little dead rat bones, and as she waved her arms she began to speak in a gutteral tone, using an unrecongnizable ancient demon language. (Well, probably unrecognizable to anyone but Giles really.) As she brought her arms together she reached under the robe and pulled out a long, very sharp looking dagger, and dragging it across both palms began to sprinkle blood on all of the bones outside of her circle. She smiled evily as she thought, 'It is done Master.'

Unsurprisingly to her, a reply came 'Good, now all that's left to do is wait.' The man who was usually on the other end of the phone's voice said in her head as she closed her eyes in triumph.
