Joining the Band

[reviews]

A/N: sorry it's been so long since an update on any of my stories. If you want more, give me more reviews!! woot woot....- L.

The rather large woman in front of them droaned on and on, stopping only for a couple of seconds to suck in a rather obese breath before continuing her lecture.

"And furthermore, there will be no sexual relations during the summer, if caught having one, you will both be sent home. Immediately!" She said, slamming her fist down onto the podium for emphasis.

Buffy looked at the people who surrounded her. The whole student body was gender seperated, so there was an overwhelming amount of estrogen creating a cloud around her. Willow sat on her right, and on the other side of Willow was Amy. Buffy sighed as she looked in between the two girls, Willow would be fine, she could handle a little spazziness, Amy though? Amy might be more difficult to handle, although she couldn't place her finger on why exactly. Amy seemed to be nice enough, just something about her bothered the blonde.

Oz glanced around the auditorium, looking for his girlfriend. They'd been together for a whole month now, which was quite a while considering that they were really only sixteen. The band had been playing together for two years before the two of them had started flirting with one another, and it had taken him the rest of the time to actually get up the nerve to ask the redhead out. In two days it would be their anniversary, and he thought that maybe, just maybe, it was time for them to move to the next step in their relationship, and what better time??

With another thud from the podium, all the students stood up, and Buffy, looking around startled, stood as well. "See? That wasn't that bad." Willow said happily. Buffy looked down at their hands, wihch were mere centimeters from touching again. Willow had drug her all the way to this smelly gym-like facility by the hand, and as soon as they had sat down had let go. At first Buffy thought that the girl had just been in a hurry, but then, throughout the speech, the redhead had scooted closer and closer to the blonde, until eventually their legs had touched, sending electric shrills up both of their spines.

Buffy swung her hand just a little bit and let it brush against Willow's. She had expected the other girl to jump in surprise, but she didn't, she just sent a brilliant smile towards the blonde. Amy and Willow chit chatted as they exited, and Buffy did her best not to blush too much each time she let their hands brush together all the way to their cabin. Waiting at the entrance were Oz and Jonathon.

"Hey babe." Oz said, leaning in a giving Willow a quick peck on the lips. They hadn't done more than that yet, small pecks and quick kisses. He was hoping that in two days he would finally get to make out with the beautiful redhead. She ducked her head and blushed like she was embarassed by his behavior when he reached out to grab her hand. Jonathon waved hello to the group, and after a second, Willow introduced her new roomie.

"Guys," She said, letting go of Oz's hand. "This is Buffy, she's from...where'd you say you were from again?" She asked, having the good sense to at the very least look abashed.

"Uhm, actually, I just moved to a little town called Sunnydale, but I'm originally from L.A." Buffy ducked her head down, making new friends was not something she had planned on, either here or at the new school she'd be starting at in the fall.

"Wow, that's where we're from!" Jonathon said excitedly. He liked this new girl, she was pretty and didn't seem to be too much of an airhead.

"Anyway though, she plays the bass guitar." Willow finished elaborately.

"Oh wow, that's awesome. Have you talked to her yet about maybe playing with us sometime?" Oz asked, looking directly at Willow and completely ignoring Buffy.

By this time the blonde was more than pissed off. Not only was she jealous of the guy who'd kissed Willow, but she had just been down right ignored. "No, she hasn't talked to ME yet about it." and in her head followed with 'God, I'm standing right here dumbass!!'

"Oh, no... But uhm, well-" Willow started to say.

"Oh shit! Oz, Jonathon, we've gotta go. Our class starts in five minutes and its on the other side of camp." Amy said, interrupting Willow and dragging off the two boys.

"Uhm, okay, see you later!" Willow called after them.

The two girls walked inside and sat for a few minutes on their seperate beds, neither knowing what they could actually say, only what they wanted to say.

'God this is stupid!' Buffy thought to herself. And so she started out. "How long have you two been together?"

Willow paused for a minute to think. "Not long...nearly a month I guess."

"Wow...that's...just. Wow." Buffy said the only thing she could think of now.

"Yeah, he's okay. I don't get the butterflies with him, but, well, that all comes in time right?" Willow asked as though waiting for assurance.

"Uhm, I guess. I usually just have them to start out with."

"Oh."

"Yeah. Listen, I think I'm gonna play, could maybe turn me on?" Buffy asked as she reached down and grabbed her bass, having already hooked it up to the amp.

"Turn you...? OH!" Willow replied, her face blood red, as she reached down and flicked the on switch on the amp. 'This is gonna be a long summer'

'Don't look at her. Don't look at her.' Chanted through her brain over and over again as her fingers played out smooth jazz, and rock and scales, and anything that came to them, while Willow sat there, mesmerized by the blonde's hands. Without meaning to, Willow leaned forward, watching her fingers as closely as she could.

Buffy was playing wiith her eyes closed, just feeling the rythem, and when she opened them, there was Willow, not an inch from her face. "Sorry, I was uhm-" Willow started to make up an excuse.

Before she could say anything else, Buffy leaned in and captured the redhead's lips. It took a minute, but before she could pull back, Willow's lips started moving of their own accord against the blonde's.

After a while they both pulled back, panting for air, their eyes holding one another, the only noise in the room the static coming from the amp. They were in the same place, just an inch apart, when the static was interruped by the door swinging open, pulling them out of their reverie.
