Band Camp

by Lost

[reviews]

Willow walked swiftly down the path where all the paths in the camp met up. Once she got to the intersection she looked around, carefully deciding which path she wanted to take so that she wouldnt be disturbed while she was thinking. It was pretty obvious to her that no matter what she chose there was bound to be some kind of rift within the band. If she broke up with Oz, then they might be out a guitarist, and she'd be without a boyfriend, and was she really ready to come out to everyone at school? Was Buffy really worth all that? But then her mind argued back that if she didn't make a move, then all chances with the beautiful blonde would be completely lost. She thought for a minute, 'How would I feel if Buffy and Faith hooked up?' at first she didn't feel anything, but then as she imagined them kissing and laughing and holding hands, she began to feel queazy and more than just a little bit pissed off. No. It couldn't come to that. She wouldn't let it. She had made up her mind, and so setting her sights on the cabin, she began to walk back.

Near the cabin she heard laughter coming from inside. 'It's now or never Rosenbug' She told herself as she quickly rapped on the door and stuck her head inside. "Hey Buffy, could I talk to you for a minute?" She asked hopefully. The blonde nodded and they walked outside. For a few minutes they walked in tense silence before they came to a bench and sat down. For a few more seconds they sat there, neither moving. When out of the blue Willow leaned in and captured the blonde's lips. She had never felt anything like this before, something so intense that she felt like she would explode. And that was just one close mouthed kiss.

"Wow! That was kind of...out of no where. And not that I mind, but you do know that I don't do the whole 'Hey, I'm gonna experiment.' Thing that girls who've just come out seem to go through." Buffy said definantly.

Willow nodded. "I wouldn't do something like that." She said in defense of herself.

"You never know, people do stupid things sometimes." Buffy said as she leaned in. "What about your boyfriend?" She asked, less than an inch between their lips.

"Well..." Willow said, closing the distance. The sentence was never finished, well, at least not for the next ten minutes or so as Willow kissed someone, not just anyone either, more than she had ever kissed another human in her whole life. Kissing Buffy seemed to awaken senses in her that she didn't even know that she was missing before that moment in time. And now that she had felt them, well... there was nothing she wouldn't do to keep them. Eventually Buffy pulled back and gazed into the redhead's eyes.

"Wow." Was all the blonde could say.

"Yeah..." Willow trailed off weakly. They were sitting close to eachother, with their hands mere milimeters away from touch, and their lips inches. "Oh, about... Oz!" She said, sounding surprised.

"Yeah?" Buffy asked.

"No, I mean... Oz, hi." She said as she stood from the bench, leaving the blonde sitting, and waved hello to the boy.

"Hey, I was looking for you... Stopped by your cabin and Amy said you went for a walk or something..." He let the sentence hang in midair, hoping for her to finish it.

"Yeah, I did... I needed to think about some things, and well... we need to talk." Willow said softly. Oz scrunched his forehead in concern before nodding and stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"Sure, lead the way." He said with a nod of his head.

"I'll see you back at the cabin?" Willow asked, looking at Buffy before leaving.

The blonde nodded her head yes, and started walking the opposite direction from the couple. She walked and thought about everything that was going on. She hadn't had a serious relationship since Jen and her had broken up two months ago. They'd been together for nearly a year, and Buffy felt that it was time to move on now. And what better person to move on with than Willow? Her and Jen were complete opposites, where as Willow was bright and bubbly, Jen had been moody and deep. She had been Buffy's first true love, and a spicy latina to boot. The two of them had been complete polar opposites, and yet had made their relationship work for eleven months. That was, until Jen's family found out about it. After that the girls weren't allowed to see eachother, and it got so bad that Jen's family had even moved her to a different school system. Buffy sighed as she remembered the girl. And realized that she was standing in front of the door to her cabin, and had been for the past two minutes. She reached down to grab the handle and pull the door open, and was greeted by the sight of Amy and Faith playing tonsel hockey. She rolled her eyes, shut the screen door quietly, and settled down on the steps to wait for Willow to return from talking with Oz.

It had taken her all of five minutes to say it. Five whole minutes to admit to Oz, that number one she was bi, number two she preferred women, and number three they were over. She hadn't once mentioned the blonde, and in her eyes had made the break as painless as possible.

"But how do you know?" He asked.

"I just do! That's all there is to it... I mean... with you I just don't get butterflies." She said before she turned her back on him, and began to walk away.

"Willow wait!" He called after her. "I love you goddammit!!" He yelled as he picked up a stone and threw it as hard as he could at the redhead, connecting with a solid thump on her right shoulder. As soon as he had screamed she had started to walk faster, but when she felt the stone she ran. She ran as hard and as fast as she could in the hopes that he wasn't following her.

Back in the clearing Oz sank to his knees with tears rolling none too gracefully down his cheeks. What had he done wrong? He didn't know, but he knew he'd find a way to fix it. And so after a while he stood, wiped the tears from his face, and went back to his cabin, a plan already formulating in his mind.

Buffy watched down the path, and was startled when she saw Willow run towards the cabin like the devil himself was on her heels. She nearly tripped on the first step. "I did it." She said, looking at Buffy like a hurt puppy. She rubbed her shoulder absentmindedly where the rock had connected, and looked at Buffy.

"What's wrong with your arm?" The blonde asked.

Willow pulled down her sleeve and looked at the red mark. "He threw a rock at me." She said simply. Buffy didn't hesitate to lean over and give the mark a kiss.

"Come on, lets go inside." She said as she took ahold of the redhead's hand and they made their way into the cabin.

A/N: Okay...so, I had typed another chapter of this story a while back, and my computer deleted it before I could post it. Bull, I know. But I couldn't seem to get the wording of the rewrite correct until now. Let me know what you think - L.
