Something Pink

Willow and I decided just to wear pajamas. She went with her pink cow ones while I picked the ever popular yummy sushi pair. I mean it's not like we were planning on going anywhere. I had no idea what to expect when we got downstairs, so I held Willow's hand and had her stay behind me. I was definitely surprised when I saw Giles sitting beside Mom, but It didn't surprise me that Tara was standing in front of Faith who was shooting daggers in his direction.

Willow and I sat in the chair as the room fell into silence. I looked over at Faith who wasn't easing up, so I nodded to Mom to have her and Tara to take Faith somewhere. I waited until I heard them in the kitchen before I started to speak.

"Giles, I expected more from you, but I shouldn't be all that surprised considering my own father disappoints me," I stated knowing how harsh it sounded, but I never got to speak my peace in the backyard.

"I know I deserved that, and after thinking about what I said, I am deeply sorry for that and hope that you will forgive me. You kids have become my family these last few years, and I feel like such a ponce for jeopardizing it by thinking like a Watcher instead of a father," Giles said as Willow climbed off my lap and into Giles' and started to cry.

He was looking at me when I just nodded as I tried not to cry until Mom came in. She lifted me up before letting me sit in her lap. I just curled into her lap as she wrapped her arms around me.

After calming down, I joined Willow and Giles on the couch, and he gave me a hug as he pulled an envelope out of his pocket and handed it to Willow. She must have like it because she kissed Giles on the cheek before running into the kitchen without letting me know what it was.

"What was that since she ran off before showing me?" I asked.

"It is a gift certificate for baby furniture. I figure it is the least I can do for the daughters giving me a grandchild," Giles said as I blinked back tears before giving him a kiss and tracking down my girlfriend.

I found her in the kitchen with Mom and Tara, but I didn't see Faith anywhere. Then I heard the heavy bag taking a beating. I walked down the steps, and she was really laying into it. I knew from experience not to come from behind, so I made my way around and stood in front of her.

"Faith, it's okay. Giles apologized and fixed things. I know how protective you are of us, and I want to thank you for that. You may be younger than me, but I've always seen you as my big sister," I said wrapping her up in a hug.

Faith started to quietly cry as I led her over to the sofa Mom had brought down. I laid her head in my lap and just let her get it out. I know when it comes to family stuff that it hits Faith hard. She has never really given me the whole story, but I know enough that growing up for Faith was hard, and when things get tough for her family, she tends to protect the offended party.

"Thanks B, you always know how to make me feel better, and the reason you see me as your big sister is because you're such a tiny little thing," Faith said laughing as I smacked her on the forehead. and before I knew it, we were wrestling around on the floor trying to pin each other until we heard someone clear their throat. Faith and I both looked towards the stairs to find our girlfriends who just rolled their eyes before heading back upstairs.
