Chapter 5

[reviews]

You guys I am so sorry for the delay. Real life problems have been happening. Anyways Kirky I sure hope you like it :)

Joyce sat there, listening to Willow tell her story. It wasn't at all what she had been expecting, she had expected there to be things that she never thought Willow would ever do. This story was beyond anything she could have even dreamed about. Tears fell from beginning to end, from both women. Towards the end Dylan had woken up, crying and shaking. Willow cradled her baby while she told the last bit, not as graphic as before but still as truthful and honest.

Dylan fell back asleep in her mothers' arms, her shaking always decreased when her mother was touching her. Something Willow learned early on. Joyce asked several polite questions and always received an honest answer. In the wee early hours the true story of Willow's past ended. There were some good parts towards the end, with having Dylan but there were equally as difficult times.

Buffy had gotten worried that her mother wasn't home. She knew where she would have been, with Willow. Instead of just going over there she decided to stay in, looking over the pictures again. Tara and Faith had left soon after, deciding to go and have their own fun. Dawn was studying her school books in her room. During her breaks she would look up anything dealing with Dylan and possible sleeping problems she may be having.

Getting nothing she walked across the hall, knocking on her sisters' door. Opening it slightly she poked her head in. Her sister was in her own world, she watched as she smiled sadly at the pictures in her book. One day Dawn had gone in and flipped through it. There were pictures of the three of them, but since one person had to take the picture usually Willow and Buffy were the only members in them. There were the family pics and other events that were in there, but the ones her sister would focus on where the ones with her.

Walking in Dawn closed the door behind her. As soon as her sister did notice her she started to close the book, Dawn put her hand over her sisters keeping it open on the page. Looking down it was a silly picture, one that she herself took. Willow didn't want her picture take and was hiding. Buffy pulled Willow out from her hiding spot, dragging her to the couch. Dawn pretended to not have the camera and Willow didn't see it and relaxed slightly. Buffy leaned in and was whispering something to redhead, who immediately tried to cover up her giggles. That was when Dawn had taken the picture. It was a great moment, just the three of them. It was a Willow sleepover and the four ladies in the house had a great night full of laughter.

The next Dawn had taken as well. It was late at night and the three of them had all fallen asleep. Dawn woke up needing a glass of water. Turning she saw that both were asleep. Willow leaning up against Buffy, while her sisters' arm was draped over her friends shoulders.

Sitting down beside her sister she wrapped her arms around her older sister. Buffy in turn pulled Dawn to her and began crying. Breaking down once again. The brunette sat there, trying her best to comfort her unstable sister.

Willow and Joyce were going through similar problems. Going down memory lane was not one of Willow's favorite things to do and she had not just gone down the street, but visited the whole town. Practically visiting every tourist destination. Stretching tired limbs Willow carefully readjusted, not wanting to wake Dylan.

Joyce glanced at her watch, noticing the time for the first time that night. Gasping in shock she quickly stood up. "Oh my, look at the time. I'm sorry Willow but I must be heading home." Leaning over she quickly kissed both girls. "I'll call you tomorrow." With that the older woman left.

Lifting Dylan up she held her close to her body. Standing up Willow locked the door before heading upstairs. Deciding to let Dylan sleep with her she pulled the sheets back before climbing in and covering the two of them. Quickly Willow followed her daughter in to the dream world.

The next day Joyce did as she said she would. Calling up Willow in the afternoon to make sure everything was ok. They chit chatted for a bit before Willow asked something. "Do you happen to have Giles and Xander's phone numbers?" Her voice was full of hope. She needed to talk with them, both of them.

Joyce heard this and understood the young mother. "Yes dear," giving her the phone numbers Joyce decided to add, "Willow, I think you should tell them, all of them."

Willow stood there silent. The only person who now knew her story was telling her to tell everyone. She still didn't know where she stood with the rest of them. No one knew what to say or how to act around her. Joyce had been nothing but supportive, acting like a real mother would. That was the reason she told Joyce.

She knew she had to tell them all. She knew that when she decided to come back to Sunnydale. It was even harder than she thought though. Ms. Summers took her in, behaving as though she was still her Willow. The rest seemed to have forgotten, afraid of the unknown that surrounded her.

"As long as your there, I'll tell them." Willow needed her mother there. It was hard enough going through her life alone, not even having the support from her own parents. She needed Joyce, the one person who tried to be there for her unconditionally.

Joyce let out a small sigh, she thought it was going to be harder convincing her redheaded daughter to tell them. It was hard enough for Willow to tell one person, telling the gang was going to be torturous for the young woman. "Thank you Willow. They really should know." Willow nodded her head, admitting it to herself. "I know you may not want to do it, but I think the sooner the better dear."

"Can we do it now? I just want to get it over and done with." Tears were silently falling out of her eyes. She was scared to death, but as long as her mother still loved her maybe the others would too.

"Of course, I'll call them all up and have them come over. You just come on over with Dylan and I'll have everything set up."

"Thank you so much mom." The word somewhat slipped out. She had never called Joyce her mother, even if she felt it everyday since meeting the older woman.

"I love you Willow. Now come on over and bring my granddaughter." Joyce was smiling as the word came out. Granddaughter. Her first one, and what a cutie she was.

Agreeing the two women said their goodbyes. Joyce was going to call the meeting with all the Scoobies and Willow was getting a bag ready for her and Dylan to be at the Summers house for the rest of the day.

What no one knew was that Buffy had overheard the conversation. She hadn't meant to, she was just coming down to get something to eat for lunch and her mother was on the phone. Today was the day they all heard the redhead tell her story of what happened to her these last four years. She had been waiting, not wanting to push anything and it seems she wasn't trying hard enough to get her friend back. Willow had been back for nearly a month and no one knew about her past, except her mother now.

Entering the kitchen she saw her mother hang up the phone. Joyce knew immediately that her daughter had over heard the conversation. Walking over she put both hands on her daughters shoulders. "Be patient with her." With that she walked out of the room, giving her daughter time to collect her thoughts.

Joyce went to straighten up things and make sure everything was pretty much baby proofed. Picking up the phone she began to call the gang to get them over to her house. She informed them it was about Willow and everyone agreed, even the two men who hadn't even welcomed her home.

Buffy was slightly lost. She knew it had to be bad if her mother was nervous, she was trying her best to hide it, but slayer senses gave her away. Joyce called Dawn downstairs and told her about the Willow meeting, remaining silent she nodded her head. Smiling at her youngest she spoke. "Why don't you help me set up some snacks for the meeting?" nodding her head both began putting around, arranging drinks and food on the counter.

It wasn't long when the gang started showing up. Tara and Faith made themselves at home, grabbing a drink before finding a seat in the living room. Willow was next to arrive. Walking in she said her hellos, before going and finding Joyce. Dylan was practically attached to her mothers leg. Faith and Tara gave the small girl a wave, which only made her try to get closer even closer to her mother.

Sighing, Willow picked Dylan up as she headed into the kitchen. Finding the three Summers girls in there she said hello. "Willow dear, you're here." Walking over Joyce hugged both girls.

"Yup," getting nervous again she asked. "Do you have a tv upstairs? I kind of don't want Dylan around when we..." Joyce immediately understood as she nodded her head.

"Of course, Buffy is your room safe?" Joyce didn't want to assume. It did seem Buffy was making it child proof as soon as she found out about Dylan, but she never really went into her room.

"Oh yeah," wiping her hands she continued, "but just incase I didn't do it right I better come with you." Smiling at both girls she let Willow led the way. Once in the room she let Dylan down on the bed and took a quick peak around the room.

"Wow Buffy, it looks great." She smiled at the slayer before turning to her redhead. "Now Dylan, your going to be a good girl and stay in here right?" It wasn't a question and Dylan understood that. Her mother had talked with her about how she was going to be a good girl and play quietly. Not wanting to disappoint her mother she nodded her head. "What a good girl. Now I'm going to put your movie in and your toys will are in your bag. I will be back to check on you after your movie." Putting the movie in she hit play before kissing her daughters head and leaving.

Buffy and Willow headed back downstairs and by now Xander and Giles had arrived. Going in to the kitchen Willow grabbed a drink, needing to take a breath before going back in there. Buffy was right beside her. Not knowing what she should do she tried putting her hand on the stressed girls back. Willow froze up on contact, whipping her hand back Buffy apologized.

"Its ok, I'm sorry. Just a lot going on, you know?" Buffy wanted to understand. She knew a little bit, but not the whole thing. She wanted to be the best friend like they were back in high school, but that took time. Time was something she was willing to give, anything to get back her Willow.

Willow took another drink before entering the living room, sitting down beside Joyce while Buffy sat in another chair across from her. Everyone's eyes were on her. Taking a deep breath she began. "Ok, I just thought I should tell you guys what happened after I left until now. A lot has happened and I know some of you are mad at me, but I thought you guys deserved to know." Taking a look around everyone remained seated. "Dylan is upstairs, so if we could keep this down I would really appreciate it."

Seeing them nod she took began. "Well after I left here, I just left. I hurt so many people I just needed to get as far away as I could. I hitched a ride anywhere. Somehow I ended up in Chicago. I don't know how long it took me to get there. Along the way I did some things." Everyone had an idea, something very not Willow like. Joyce took one of her fidgeting hands into hers, giving it reassuring squeeze.

"I.. um.." taking another breath she tried again. "I did anything to try and forget. I did a lot of magic, tried several different types of drugs, would go bar hoping every night, as well as sleep with anyone and everyone who wanted to." Mentally everyone's jaw hit the floor as their eyes became saucers. Everyone in there was completely shocked, and some were horrified that their shy hacker did such things.

"I don't remember a lot of the first year and a half. Except that there were a lot of things that were so not of the good." Tears began to slip from her eyes. "I was even abused by some of the guys, including my dealers. They knew I couldn't stop and did anything they wanted to."

Faith looked understanding. She knew what it was like to be trash. What people did to someone like that. She herself had done some very similar things, but nothing like what Willow had done to herself. As she kept listening she knew that Willow had been deep. How hard it must have been to crawl out of that hole. Remembering her own problems she knew what the redhead was going through. Unlike Willow though, she had someone to help her. Tara.

"One day I found out I was pregnant. I knew I couldn't give her up, so I decided I would stop. I was able to contact a few members in a coven and ask for their help. I went there and the high priestess there helped me learn to live with the magic that was in me. I still feel it in me, but I've sort of put it away. They helped me learn how to," thinking about the right way to put it she paused for a moment. "No longer be addicted to it, but help me use it. I can't stop using it, you see, I found out some things about me. I guess I've been doing some form of magic all my life. It's in me and I learned how to use it and control myself with it in a way."

"It took awhile for the magic part to be under control, but someone was always with me helping me through it. There was also a priestess there who helped me with Dylan. Making sure she was doing well, helping me off the drugs, she was even there when Dylan was born." Smiling she had the far off look as she remembered giving birth.

"Anyways I stayed with the coven, they helped me more so since I was no longer going through withdraws. Dylan was checked out by the doctors as well as coven members and surprisingly enough she is a normal child with developmental problems."

"After that the coven members helped me get a job with a computer programmer. Now I make programs and ship them off to him. He puts my share in the bank and mails me any programs needed." With that she stopped, waiting for the questions she was sure would follow.

Sensing that she was waiting for the Q and A part of the night Giles spoke up. "What about your parents? I didn't hear them mentioned in any of your story." He spoke as gently as he could, knowing they probably weren't all that helpful.

She gave a sad little laugh before replying. "Well, I called up my parents a few months after I found out I was pregnant. I was already in the coven getting help. I told my father I was pregnant, but none of the other things. He sort of figured I wasn't his good little girl anymore. He told me he was 'done raising children' and that they weren't able to come and help, 'business' they told me. They still haven't seen her."

This whole night was taking its toll on her as she spilled her juts out. Even thinking about it made her hate herself. Everything she did to herself, everything she did to them. Joyce wrapped her arm around Willow, holding her close as she cried into her hands. Xander came running over, dropping to his knees before her.

Wrapping his arms around her he held her close. "I'm so sorry Wills." She clung to him as both cried. He knew her parents weren't real parents, but not being there to help her at all was something he couldn't stand.

Buffy and Faith both heard that the movie upstairs had ended awhile ago, knowing that the little girl should be checked on the looked and nodded towards one another. Buffy spoke up, "Guys, I, uh, well, Dylan's movie is over and has been for sometime." She tried to sound normal, but her voice was slightly shaky and small from hearing the story.

Willow understood what she was saying. Pulling back from Xander she looked into his eyes. "I'm so sorry Will, please forgive me." She could tell how torn up he was about all of this.

"There's nothing to forgive Xander." Smiling he hugged her again before pulling back and wiped his eyes. Willow wiped her own eyes before excusing herself. Going upstairs she made sure to look well enough not to worry her daughter.

Opening the door she saw Dylan sitting there. She wasn't playing with her toys, just sitting there waiting. As soon as she saw her mother she jumped off the bed and into her mothers' arms. Hugging her tightly she kissed her cheek. "Mm, how's my baby girl?" Pulling back only far enough to look in her eyes she asked.

"Good, I was a good girl." Smiling proudly Willow had to laugh.

"Yes, you were a very good girl." Hugging her again Willow slowly began to relax. Dylan always had that effect on her and visa versa. After several more moments she pulled away again. Dylan not wanting to leave her spot held on, making sure not to leave her arms.

Looking around Dylan seemed to just have sat there. She had the remote and managed to turn the tv off, but wasn't tall enough to pull the tape out and put it back in her bag. Dylan gave a big yawn and snuggled back into her mothers embrace. "Are you tired baby?" Rubbing her back Dylan nodded her head. "Lets go say goodbye and go home." Dylan nodded her head again, beginning to drift off. Still holding Dylan she pulled the tape out and picked up the bag.

Opening the door she walked downstairs with the bag over one shoulder and Dylan in her arms. When she got to the landing everyone was standing. Some had still been crying, but made sure so wipe their eyes so Dylan wouldn't see. Walking over everyone said their goodbyes to the two.

With that Dylan and Willow went home to sleep, while the rest stayed behind. The gang decided to wait for awhile. Some things needed to be discussed between the rest of them.
