Nothing But You

by Whedonist

Chpater 9

[reviews]

A/N: I start back to work tomorrow after an emergency trip home. I will be unable to update pretty much anything for at least a week or possibly two. Because of the upcoming insanity, I wanted to post what I had done. I hope you guys enjoy.

Disclaimer: You may not know the man...and love well...maybe stretching it for some, but these wonderful, crazy, characters belong to Joss Whedon. I'm just havin' some of that wacky stuff called fun.

Chapter 9

Willow smoothed her top out and checked herself in the mirror again. Tara and Fred were sitting on the bed giggling.

"Wills, go. She's waited long enough."

She looked over at her two friends and smiled. "Thanks mom and dad. I'll be back before curfew." She hugged them both and then grabbed her purse.

She opened the door and tried to say hello, but her mouth didn't work. A few vowel sounds came out and she smiled. Buffy was in a white see through cotton top with a white camisole underneath. She had on a pair of tight blue jeans and black shoes. Her hair was down and framed her face. She had a goofy looking grin on her face that Willow was sure reflected her own.

Fred watched from the door way and laughed some more. They just stood there staring at each other.

Buffy tried to speak, "Uhmina Uto giffifyk."

"Will let me translate. I'm fluent in American girl speak. She says you look amazing."

"Hauk ut."

"You're welcome Buffy. No go on you two have fun." Fred winked at Buffy and then shut the door.

It took them a few more moments to get their bearing's, but eventually Buffy's brain kicked in and she took Willow's hand. She led her down the hall and out of Stevenson. Waiting for them was Xander in a black suit and driving cap. He gave the two girls a huge smile when he saw them coming down the walkway.

"This way ladies. I'm Alexander Harris and will be your driver for this evening." He opened the door to the car and ushered the girls in.

Buffy had arranged the date in about two hours after Willow had left the mansion. She had called her mother and apologized for worrying everyone and had assured her that everything was ok. She had asked Angel for help on getting the reservations at this posh restaurant in Santa Barbara. It was going to be the best night of Buffy and Willow's life to date, or at least that's what the blonde had intended and planned for.

They had arrived at the restaurant at 7pm and were seated almost immediately. Willow was in awe. The place was definitely the nicest restaurant she had ever been to.

"Buff, I'm a little underdressed."

"So am I, but it's ok. We have a private room and then it's off to someplace else."

They were seated and took a few moments to decide on what to eat. The waiter came over and offered both a glass of wine. Deciding that it was a special occasion, they accepted and sipped at the drink.

"Ya know Buff you didn't need to go through all this trouble. I would have been happy with pizza and a movie."

"I know, but..."

"What?"

"It's just that I wanted this night to be as memorable as possible. Ya know like if in 50 years we are still together you may not remember my name, but you'll remember our first date."

Willow blushed at the comment and smiled, "Hmm it's very sweet of you. And how did you get Xander to play chauffer?"

"Blackmail."

"Ah, I didn't get the chance to tell you that you look incredible tonight. I was...usually when I see someone I like I can make a few vowel sounds, but then I have to go away. I was this close," Willow measured out a half an inch between her thumb and index finger, "to turning around and running back into the room."

"I'm glad you didn't."

"Me too."

"Wills, you don't have to be nervous. It's you and me and nothing's changed really."

"But it has Buff. I mean, you're gorgeous, even if I never said it before tonight, I've always thought so and I'm just me, not so beautiful daughter of Ira and Sheila Rosenberg, I'm not that special and well, you can do way better."

"Stop Wills, I thought we've had this talk. Someone would have to be deaf, blind, and dumb, not to see the hotness that is you. Again relax."

"So what else is planned for tonight?"

"It's a surprise."

"What if I don't like surprises?"

"Then you'd be lying. I know for a fact you like surprises."

"Darn I shouldn't have told you all of my secrets."

"That and you're a horrible liar."

"Yeah that to."

They chatted lightly until their food came and consumed in silence. They were looking over the desert menu, Buffy was trying to convince Willow to share the tiramisu with her, but the redhead was eyeing a strawberry and chocolate platter. Relenting when Willow introduced Buffy to her resolve face, Buffy ordered the desert.

"Trust me. You can't go wrong with chocolate and strawberries it's better than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches."

"A fan of the PB and J?"

"It's the only thing I would eat for a year."

"Why?"

"With my parents being gone all the time, it was the easiest and tastiest thing I could make at the time."

"What?"

"Third grade is when my parents started leaving me alone. It wasn't that biga deal, but I still couldn't cook. So I made sandwiches."

"You were how old?"

"8."

Disbelief showed on the blonde's face. "You can't be serious. What parent would leave an 8 year old to fend for themselves?"

"My parents. They were very book smart, but I'm not entirely convinced that I wasn't an accident."

Buffy grabbed Willow's hand. She couldn't imagine being left alone at 8. She had the uncharacteristic urge to find the Rosenberg's and hit them repeatedly and hard.

"Hmm, remind me to kick your parents if I ever meet them."

"It's cool Buff. It's just the way they are."

The desert came and the girls scooted their chairs together. Willow took a strawberry slice, dipped it in the chocolate sauce, and fed it to Buffy. She watched as Buffy's lips curled around the offered food and felt that tingly sensation flow through her body. She smiled as Buffy moaned in appreciation.

"Wow. Ok I forsake all other desert."

Smiling wide Willow nodded, "I told you."

The next stop for the evening was a small carnival. It was set up on one of the piers. The girls were sharing some cotton candy and deciding which ride to get on.

"Ferris Wheel?"

Willow shook her head no.

"Uhm, Thunderbolt?"

"That I can get behind or on."

They took two turns on the ride and stepped off the ramp a little dizzy.

"Ok, that was fun. What next."

"Now I get to try and win you a prize. You see anything you want?"

Willow looked around at the booths and noticed one that had a big stuffed Scooby Doo. She pointed it out and they took off.

The guy working the booth whistled as the two girls approached. "Ladies right this way. Come on and try and win a prize."

"How much?" The blonde looked at the set up. It was a balloon dart game.

"Two dollars for three shots. You hit three balloons and you get your choice of prize. Where are your fella's?"

"No fella's one girl." Buffy grabbed Willow's hand.

"Well then let's see what you can win for your lady friend." He handed Buffy the three darts and the blonde handed over the money.

Sinking one dart into the center of a balloon, the man laughed and didn't expect her to get anymore. Much to his dismay she popped the last two in rapid succession.

"Well good job little lady. You get to pick which prize you want."

Buffy pointed to the Scooby Doo and smiled.

"You sure?"

She looked at Willow who still had a stunned look on her face. She hadn't honestly expected Buffy to win her the toy. She nodded and the man handed it over to her.

"Thank you."

"You ladies have nice night and don't come back; I'll be out of business. Hey there Barbie?"

"Name's Buffy."

"Ok Buffy, where'd you learn to do that?"

"Secret. If I tell you well then..."

The man laughed and waved goodbye.

"Thanks Buff."

"You're welcome." Buffy placed a light kiss on the redhead's cheek. Willow turned and caught Buffy's lips. She let her tongue move out and enter the blondes. Buffy deepened the embrace and wrapped her arms around the taller girl's body. They broke away at the same time a little breathless.

"Wow." Willow said running her hands over her swollen lips. "Way better than fantasized."

"Fantasized?"

Willow blushed at the admission and nodded.

"I'm flattered Wills."

"You kiss much better in reality though. So uh really my imagination kinda sucks."

Buffy grabbed her hand and went in search of more rides and games.

They got back to Sunnydale a little before midnight. Xander dropped them off at the dorm's and went back to drop the car off.

"So this is our final stop. Is there anything else you wanted to do?" Buffy asked swinging their entwined hands.

"Hmm, dinner at a nice restaurant, a carnival and a walk on beach. Buff that was a picture perfect date. Really it's the best time I've ever had on one."

"I'm glad." Buffy raised their hands and placed a light kiss on Willows.

"Buff, uhm, You want to go back to my room?"

Buffy's eyes bulged and she stuttered a few times. That wasn't what she had expected out of Willow.

Realizing how that sounded, she corrected the proposition, "I mean ya know to go back and talk or something."

"I'd like that."

The girls walked up to the room and set their purses down.

"Do you want something to change into?"

"Sure."

Willow handed Buffy a pair of sweat shorts and a top. As Buffy got changed Willow put on some music. She chose an album Fred had given her; it was Ska compilitation that she had picked up when she went to New York last fall. The music was light and fun. Buffy looked at her and raised an eyebrow.

"Fred."

"Ah, she certainly has interesting taste in music."

"If you don't like I can put in something else."

"No no it's nice. Mellow just not what I expected."

"So what do you usually do after a successful date Ms. Summers?"

"It depends, most nights I go home and think about the girl I just spent the evening with, but I don't have to do that. You're here and I'm here and there's always room for improvement." She grabbed Willow's hand and laid on the bed. Willow took a position on Buffy's stomach and let her hand roam freely over the other girl's stomach.

"Buff, why didn't you ever say anything?"

"I was scared I guess. I mean you weren't or aren't still into girls I think and well I'm very much into them. It just didn't seem right."

"Hmm...I can understand that, but have I ever given you the impression that I didn't want to be your friend? Buff, I'm closer to you than I am to anyone else. Sure everyone else is all, and by all I mean Tare and Fred are she likes you, blah, blah, blah. So ya see I can be kinda of a dummy sometimes."

"That's now obvious and yes I can be a dummy too, but I...I was serious Will. I love you. I wished that I didn't, but I do; so thank you for agreeing to go out with me."

Willow leaned up and placed a light kiss on the blonde's lips. Sure the whole girl on girl thing was new, but so was the boy on girl when she dated her ex. Smiling into the embrace, she thought this was defiantly something she could get used to. She scooted up further to get a better balance and used the rest of the night to make out and hold on to the girl that made her feel whole.

Xander walked into in the dorm and cocked his head in confusion as he saw the still made bed of his friend. Deciding she must have spent the night at Willow's he went to get a shower. When he came back, Buffy was there in some borrowed clothes.

"So how did it go or do I need to even ask?" Xander leered at Buffy and she threw her socks at him.

"Out of the gutter Harris. We talked and cuddled and there may have been some smooches. That's all."

"Buff the least you can do is egg on my lesbian fantasies. It's really all I ask. So let's start this over, how did it go?"

"Cuddles, talking, smooching that's it."

"Fine play that way, Buff my fantasies will do nicely."

"Pervert."

"Lesbian."

"Breeder."

"Oh," Xander placed a hand over his heart and fell back on the bed. "unnecessary Buff."

""If you can't take the heat..."

"I can take it I'm just not invited into the kitchen that often."

"Oh boy."

"So what are the plans for today?"

"Gallery and then I don't know. Mom was talking dinner. Hey gather everyone up and let's see if we can do a cookout?"

"Good plan. I'll see if we can gather some beast to roast and swing by Angel's maybe I can convince him to join in the fun."

"Good luck. I'm gonna go, if I'm late my mom's gonna be testy."

"Bye Buff."

"Call me when we have something worked out."

She gave Xander a kiss on the cheek and left.
