Chapter 15...
***************************************************************************
Willow sat nervously in the uncomfortable aeroplane seat. She was really doing this. She was really going to L.A. It was hard leaving, but she knew it was for the best. She hadn't recieved a beating from her wife for two days and the bruises were already starting to fade. She wondered what would happen to Kennedy. She loved the woman, and she knew it was wrong, but she just couldn't stop loving her. She looked down and saw her sleeve slip down slightly, revealing a black and blue arm. She pulled the sleeve up and stared out the window. Silent tears began to fall. She felt Buffy grab her hand and squeeze slightly. She didn't say anything, she just grazed a thumb over Willow's knuckles, gently. Buffy knew that there was nothing she could say to make the witch feel any better. She just had to cry it out. However, this small gesture from Buffy made her feel so much better.

Willow's tears stopped as the aeroplane started to move. Her emotions changed quickly from upset to terrified. She hated flying.

"Uh... Buff, the plane, moving, flying, not good."

"Will, that's usually what planes do, sweetie," Buffy interlaced their fingers, both girls loving the feeling for a second. Willow looked at Buffy. "You get scared, just squeeze, OK?"

Willow gulped, "'K."

The plane got faster and faster, and as it did, Willow's grip got tighter and tighter.

"Ow, ow... ow... ow ow ow," the slayer was pretty sure, that if it weren't for her slayeryness, her hand would be broken. To make matters worse, Willow's nails were digging in, too.

When the plane was in the air, Willow had her eyes shut tight. Buffy leaned over.

"It's OK Will, we're in the air now, far from the ground and crashing into it," Buffy said trying to ease Willow's grip.

Willow eased off a little but still held the blonde's hand. Buffy stretched out her fingers best she could, making Willow look down at the hand that was starting to bruise and the finger marks she'd left in Buffy's skin.

"Oh my God, Buffy I'm so sorry," Willow looked at her with pleading eyes. She was expecting a smack. But instead, the slayer smiled at her.

"It's OK, Wills," Buffy squeezed Willow's hand a little, "slayer healing remember."

Willow smiled back.

The two sat in comfortable silence for a minute or two, still holding hands.

"So, you excited about coming home?"

Willow showed her a half-hearted smile. "Yeah, can't wait," she fiddled with Buffy's hand in her own, "just a little nervous. You know... new home, new lifestyle... and the time difference is going to be a bitch to get used to." Willow half-joked at the end.

The plane hit turbulance and Willow's eyes were closed again. She squeezed Buffy's hand, releasing an unexpected 'eeeee' from Buffy. "It's OK, Will, just turbulance, it'll be over in a sec."

When it was over, Willow was still holding on tight. "Uh... Will? Think you could let go now?"

"Forget it, slayer, you've got another 8 hours of this," she showed Buffy a cheeky smile.

Buffy laughed, "oh, goody."

Willow stuck her tongue out at the blonde, revealing the metal stud.

"OH MY GOD," Buffy shouted a little too loud. "Sorry," she said, quietly, to the pissed off passangers next to her row who she'd just woken up.

"What Buff?" Willow looked at her with scared eyes.

"When did you get your tongue pierced?"

Willow sighed her relief. "Oh... Kenn wanted me to get it done, I got it done a couple of weeks after the honeymoon. I was thinking of taking it out, but I think I kinda like it."

"Me, too," Buffy said a little too quickly. She blushed bright red. "I mean, it's cool. I would get mine done but I'm too much of a baby."

"Tell me about it!" Willow said, nodding to the slayers hand.

"Hey!!"

The two giggled.

The next two hours was filled with teasing and playful banter, until Willow yawned wide.

"Maybe you should get some sleep, Wills. I'll wake you up when we get to L.A." Buffy smiled.

"No, I wanna say hello to America," Willow said through another yawn. Buffy's smile got wider at the cuteness.

"Fine, I'll wake you up when America comes into sight."

"Yay," Willow smiled, sleepily.

She leaned into Buffy's shoulder and closed her eyes. Buffy wrapped an arm around the tiny woman and kissed the top of her head.

"Buff?"

"Yeah, Will?" Buffy was expecting a little sentimental moment.

"What if you're asleep, too, when we get to America?"

Buffy chuckled at the brunette's words. "Tell you what, I'll tell Faith behind us to wake us up, OK?"

"Mmmm'K" she said sleepily into the blonde's shoulder.

"You hear that Faith?" Buffy said to the girl behind her.

"Yep, slayer hearing picks up everything. Not always a perk, by the way! I can't help but listen to the old couple who went to the bathroom a couple of minutes ago." Faith said disgusted.

"Tell me about it," Buffy said as her face screwed up.

She looked down at the already sleeping witch and looked for a flight attendant. "Excuse me, miss. Could we have a blanket, please?"

"Sure, no problem."

The attendant came back with a blanket and handed it to Buffy, "thanks."

She draped it over Willow best she could with one hand then rested her cheek against Willow's head.

Soon, she joined Willow in the land of nod.
