Chapter 21...
***********************************************************************************
Willow woke up cold and numb. She was in a confused daze for a couple of seconds before she realised she had fallen asleep sitting up against the door last night. She stood up and shook herself awake, before walking into the en-suite, taking off last night's clothes and stepping into the shower. As the boiling water began to wash over her, so did last night's memories.

Clubbing with Buffy, dancing with Buffy, drinking with Buffy, stumbling home with Buffy... kissing with Buffy.

Her tears mixed in with the water. She was so confused and was worried about what the day that lay ahead was going to be like. She did love Buffy. She knew she did, deep down in her heart, she knew. But everything was moving so fast, she'd been in L.A for just over three weeks and Buffy had already made a move. Questions ran wild through her head, how long has Buffy felt like this? Why didn't she say anything before? Did she say it just because she was drunk? Was it how she really felt? Plus, she was still married to Kennedy. She still loved Kennedy. Not like she loved Buffy, but love was there nevertheless. She still couldn't understand why. She knew that what the girl used to do to her was terrible, she wasn't stupid, but she couldn't help loving her.

She climbed out the shower, wrapped a towel around her body and hair and went to find some fresh clothes. She pulled out blue faded jeans and a long white top along with a tan belt to finish the outfit. She dressed herself then undid the towel and rubbed damp locks a couple more times before tossing the towel in the washing hamper.

She went downstairs for breakfast, to find Buffy already in the kitchen with her early morning mocha. They shared an awkward smile.

"Hey," Buffy spoke quietly.

"Hey," Willow mirrored.

They both fell silent again and looked away from each other. It was too much for Buffy, so she began explaining herself.

"Look, Will, about last night..." she sighed and thought about how to continue, the truth wasn't an option. "I-I'd just... had too much to drink or somethin', emotions were running high and..."

"Did you mean it?" Willow cut in, referring to the 'I love you'.

"Did I mean what?" Buffy said, playing dumb.

"You know what," Willow said quietly.

Buffy looked away again.

"Buffy, look at me," Willow commanded, her voice remaining calm, even though she wanted to scream the house down. Buffy looked back up, tears in both their eyes, "did you mean it?"

"Yes," she answered plainly.

Willow closed her eyes tight to stop the tears before looking up at the ceiling and turning around. pacing a couple of steps before pacing back to Buffy.

"Why?"

Buffy's facial expression changed to confused. "Why what?"

"Why did you mean it? Why did you kiss me? Why are you in love with me? WHY THE HELL DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE EVERYTHING SO DAMN COMPLICATED?" Willow's voice got louder and louder until she was screaming at her.

A tear fell down Buffy's cheek. "I can't help how I feel, Will," she whispered gently.

Willow threw her hands up in the air, and she scoffed a laugh. "How long?" she asked, turning her back to Buffy.

Buffy knew exactly what she was talking about. How long had Buffy been in love with Willow? Buffy herself didn't know. She sighed deeply.

"Good question," was her short reply.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Willow's voice was quiet. She was trying so hard to control her tears, she hated crying infront of Buffy and it seemed that it was all she did nowadays.

"I don't know... how long... it all kind of... merged," Buffy continued explaining, "I can't remember a time when I didn't love you."

Willow turned around, a mixture of emotions in her eyes. Love, hate, concern, anger, bitterness. Why the hell hadn't Buffy told her this years ago?

"Oh, well, that's just great, Buffy," she said through gritted teeth. "So, instead of fighting for me to stay in L.A, fighting for me to stay with you, you just let me go to England to spend the next three years of my life wishing I was dead?!"

"Will, I-I couldn't stop you, I thought that was what you wanted! You're a grown woman, I couldn't..."

"You could've told me," she cut her off. "You could've saved me from three years of hell. You seriously think I would've picked Kennedy over you?"

Buffy looked down again and shook her head.

At that moment Dawn walked in.

"Morrrrrrning," she yawned. She suddenly noticed the tension between the two girls, "am I interupting something?" she asked with a worried expression.

Willow just turned around and pratically ran up the stairs, Buffy hot on her tail. "Will, wait..." The door was slammed in Buffy's face.

She knocked quickly, "please, Will, we need to talk about this."

She waited a few seconds then heard Willow unlock the door.

"Start talking."
