I have to say that I'm still thinking about these challenges, I
haven't forgotten about them. I'm working on a couple of little
stories right now (heh), one of which has taken on a life of its own.
But you've definately given me a few ideas. :)

I'd like to second this. I'm not a stickler for grammar or spelling
by any means, but I will go so far as to say that it does make a story
easier to read and follow, which in turn really helps get the message
across. Even a little attention in this direction can really go a
long way.

I was an English major in college too (I also changed repeatedly), so
I'd be willing to offer my services as proofreader. When I give
feedback, I just go over in general what I liked and disliked, but
when I proofread, I go into much more detail (spelling, grammar, etc.)
so if I can be of help to anyone, please let me know.

And Kimber, what's Rod's homepage? I'd like to check it out too.
