Chapter five

Willow just stared at Buffy, knowing what the Demon wanted to hear, but not being able to talk just then.
Her silence was misunderstood by the Vampire who nodded her head once before turning and walking out of the Library which pulled Willow out of her stupor and sent her running after her lover.

"Buffy! Wait!"

Buffy slowed down before coming to a stop and tried to quell her hurt and bloodlust. The hurt was from Willow rejecting her and the bloodlust was from the anger at Willow rejecting the Demon after telling the soul that she accepted it.

"What?" Buffy's Demon tried to keep it's voice as calm as possible but it came out sounding very strained and it caused Willow to take a step back, which did not go unnoticed, and start to babble.

"It was just a shock hearing you say that. I mean, how does a person just wake up with apart of themselves missing and yeah, okay Vampire, but still I don't understand how it happened and I'm worried about what's going to happen but that doesn't mean that I don't still love you well unless your gonna kill me and everyone else know... are you?" The question was asked with a hint of sarcasm as Willow knew the answer, but Buffy never took it that way.

Buffy stared at her Mate with mixed feelings. On the one hand she was elated that Willow still loved her but on the other she was upset at having her loyalty called into question. The Demon was getting annoyed from having all these feelings inside when all it should want to do is hunt and kill.

Growling loudly, Buffy grabbed Willow and pulled her into an empty classroom before pinning her lover against the wall by the door. She held her arms above her head and moved her face, which was still in its demonic guise even though they were walking around in a public building not seconds before where anyone could have seen them, within inches of her lover's before growling out her displeasure.

"Why do you suddenly assume that just because I have no soul that I'm gonna go on a killing spree? Newsflash! I could have killed Xander, Giles and Cordy before you got back but I never even went for Giles or Xander! They are family! That includes you and mom — or the souls mom at least — and I seem to remember 'Buffy' mentioning that to you yet here you are questioning me! Why?"

The growl changed to an involuntary purr towards the end as Willow was unconsciously moving against the body of her lover.

"Stop that!" The Demon was not in the right frame of mind to take Willow right now. It was hurt and confused and worried that It would hurt the other girl without meaning to.

Willow stopped as she realised what she was doing and tried to get herself under some semblance of control before trying to answer her upset and fangy girlfriend.

"It was more complicated than me just taking her word for it. I needed to know that I could trust the Demon inside with my life. Why do you think I offered my blood? When you bit me, it was you in control wasn't it?"

After receiving a nod she went on not letting her lover speak just yet.

"I needed her to know that I would trust all of her. I needed you to know that as well. I don't think that your going to go on a killing spree, well at least not with me Giles or Xander but what about others? You were ready to kill Cordy and as much as I hate her you can't do that! Not and stay with me. I can't be with you if your going to kill humans."

Willow hoped that this worked. She didn't want the Demon to go out killing. She knew that when they fixed whatever was wrong with Buffy, when she got her soul back that she would feel the guilt and she didn't need that. She just hoped the Demon went along with her.

The Demon weighted her options. If she did what Willow wanted, she would have her Mate by her side, but she would have to live on bagged blood. If she said to hell with it and left her Mate then she could have all the warm human blood she wanted. As she began fantasying about ripping into human necks and taking her fill of their warm, rich blood, Willow tears caught her eye and she realised that she couldn't, no wouldn't, give this up for anything.

Lowering her lips to Willow's and mumbling out "sounds good to me" she kissed her Mate careful of her fangs and felt Willow release a breath into her mouth that she must have been holding for a while. As the kiss ended the bell rang.

"Eep, we have to get back to the Library before anyone sees you! Everyone thinks your dead."

"Well technically I am." This response was met with an eye roll before the Vampire was pulled out of the classroom and led back to the Library.
