Chapter Five

Tara and Amy were walking down the deserted hallways of Sunnydale High when they heard a scream from the girls restroom down the hall and took off running in that direction. Upon entering they found a woman pulling a stall door towards her...and something pushing. Just then the something got the better of the contest and pushed itself out of the restroom, then went after the lady.

Amy, having lived on the hellmouth her whole life, knew exactly what the thing attacking this woman was...a vampire. She dove into as much action as is possible when your not a super human slayer thingy, and grabbed the stake out of her jacket pocket.

Tara's parents had been a part of the council for her whole life, but that didn't mean that she'd actually been in fight before, and when shed actually attempted to learn to fight in elementary school...but had been told by her best friend at the time, Melinda, that she looked like she was trying to swim more so than fight. So as Amy fought she just kinda stood there, and then when she pushed the vamp towards the hallway Tara grabbed the stake that Amy had dropped and put all of her weight behind it so that she could plunge it into the vampires un-beating heart. Unfortunately she wasn't really countin on him goin poof, so she kinda fell, or almost fell, but Amy caught her just in the nick of time.

The stranger stood up, dusted herself off, and held out her hand. "Thank you for...saving me. I'm Lauren Andrews." Amy shook her hand, and then turned around to leave when she heard Tara talking to the stranger.

"I'm Tara McClay, and this is my...friend Amy uhm.." she struggled trying to remember a name that she'd never learned.

"Madison." Amy said. "You really shouldn't be out after dark with out protection, here take this, I've got another one." Amy handed her a cross, and once again turned to leave.

"Could you perhaps tell me where the Library is?" Lauren asked. Tara nodded, and Amy told her the directions...which were really just to walk down to the end of the hall. Then Amy started actually walking out the door, and Tara followed, feeling bad for the woman, but not willing to lose a new friend over it.

As they walked Amy filled her in with what was up with the town. After they left the school building Tara felt completely lost, as she had no idea what so ever where they were going, but she trusted Amy to not get her lost. As they approached Revello Drive they saw a young man walking down the street, looking like he was in a big hurry to get away from something on the street.

"Hey Xander." Amy greeted, giving the stranger a name in Tara's mind.

"Hi...if your looking for Buffy and Will they're over at Buff's." and with that he kept walking very fast in the opposite direction.

"Wonder what's gotten into him.." Tara asked aloud.

"Who knows...he's always acting strangely." Amy responded, not really feeling the need to elaborate any.

Then they were at the Summers home.

Amy rang the doorbell.
