Chapter Six

Back at the library:

Giles sat impatiently waiting for the screen on the computer to load. "Stupid Idiot Box!" he hollered when the "this page cannot be displayed" page popped up. He sighed in frustration, he had actually been hoping to get some research done on animal possession. He stood up and, abandoning his attempts at technology, began searching through an obscure passage in one of his older books. Taking off his glasses he begins massaging the bridge of his nose in a futile attempt to make his headache go away.

The library doors swung open suddenly, and in walked a young woman. She looked to be about eighteen years old, and she had brown hair with soft blue eyes.

"Can I help you?" Giles asks, slipping his glasses back on so that he can see his visitor in focus.

"Actually, you probably can." She said before taking a seat in the closest chair.

Back at Buffy's house:

Buffy and Willow were half way dressed to go on patrol, even though they had been getting dressed for the last ten minutes they had stopped frequently to kiss. But then Willow had said that if they kept up at this rate by the time they got finished the Bronze would be closing...and they'd have to walk around the cemeteries as the sun came up. The only response that she got for her troubles of explaining was the cutest pout she'd ever seen. She'd given her girlfriend a quick kiss on her cheek, and left the room, heading to the bathroom.

Buffy had been dressed within thirty seconds of Will leaving the room, and had gone down stairs to finish eating her ice cream to eat it before it became any more melted than it already was. So, when the doorbell rang Buffy went to answer it, thinking that Xander had returned for some reason, so when she opened the door she had a scowl on her face that was not at all pretty. But it wasn't Xander at the door. As soon as she saw Amy and the other girl she stepped aside, allowing them to enter.

"Hey." Was all she said before turning around and hollering up the stairs to Willow that Amy was here.

"Buffy Summers, this is Tara McClay....she's from San Francisco." Amy said by way of introduction.

"Nice to meet you." Buffy said holding out her hand. Then Willow began to walk down the stairs. As Buffy turned around to look at Willow her breadth caught in her throat. Willow was wearing her normal type of clothing, but a pair of much more durable red overalls and a striped shirt. In Buffy's eyes she looked great, and Buff really had to resist the urge to kiss her.

"Oh, and this is Willow Rosenburg...Buffy's girlfriend." Once she said this everyone except for Amy's eyes seemed to pop out of their heads. "This is Tara McClay." She said to the still flustered Willow.

"Hi." Willow said quietly, still beat red.

"Uhm, Amy can I talk to you for a moment in her?" Buffy said forcefully dragging Amy into the kitchen. "How did you know about me and Will?"

"Buffy, relax...breath, any one with eyes apart from your gang of friends and Giles and your mom can see that you two are totally in love... I was merely stating the obvious."

"Oh...are we really that obvious?" Buff was beginning to calm down.

"Only to me...cause I kinda liked Will there for a while...but I'm over it now."

"Oh." Then it dawned on her. "Are you gay?" she asked out of the blue.

"No...not gay, I'm bi."

Elsewhere in the house:

"So...." Tara said, somewhat at a loss for words.

"Yeah..." Willow couldn't think of anything to say either.

"Buffy's the Slayer huh?" Since this was the only thing that she knew about her new acquaintances (Besides that they were dating) she took a stab.

"What?!" Willow was beginning to panic...how did this new girl know about Buffy. "I mean...what's a slayer?" Willow said, attempting to lie.

Even though Tara was new to town she could tell that Willow was lying, and she would've been somewhat offended except that she knew that it was to protect Buffy. Then Amy and Buffy came back into the room.
